I have friends with systems that cost several thousand dollars. I've heard competition vehicles. I've been in the Rockford Fosgate Demo van. These subs, come very close to beating my friends' systems, and I haven't even broken them in or turned them up all the way!! I can't wait to hear what they sound like in a week or two!! They hooked em up at the garage I use, and I could hear them testing it out in the separate shop!! These things sound amazing, and I got them on sale for $150!! These are an amazing value. You have to spend a LOT more money to get anything better, and these subs are WAY MORE than most people need. I cannot believe the value. Build quality is superb, the enclosure feels extremely solid. The only minor detail on sound quality is that it only goes down to like 42hz, so songs like "put on" by jeezy, where the base gets lower and lower, it will get a little bit quieter on the next to last lowering, and basically that last and lowest bass hit theres no bass coming outta the speaker. On the bright side, unless you have really good headphones, you'd never know that bass was ever there or supposed to be there. This is a minor drawback on these awesome subs!!
Dance music plays well, rap hits very hard, and I haven't tried rock or anything yet.
For those wondering I'm in a Buick Park Avenue with a midrange Kenwood head unit, Kenwood 6x9s on the rear deck and Kenwood 5.5s in the front doors amped by a cerwin vega 2 channel. I used the M2250 amp for the subs.
Pros: Great, loud bass. Excellent build quality and price.
Cons: Minor flaw with the 42ish hz limit... but again, if I didn't have a $300 pair of sony extra bass headphones that go down to 4hz, I wouldn't even know those notes were in the song.
