Features

Materials: The Sound Ordnance B-24 is a pre-loaded bandpass-style enclosure with dual 12" subwoofers. It is constructed of ⅝" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet. It also features dual clear acrylic front windows for viewing the subwoofers. The subwoofers feature polypropylene cones with rubber surrounds, 2" voice coils, and a heavy-gauge stamped steel basket.

Box Design: The enclosure has separate sealed chambers in front of each subwoofer, and a vented chamber behind both subwoofers. The front-firing slot port is 2-13/16" wide and 13-1/2" tall, and is centered between the speakers. The box has a total of 2.9 ft³ of airspace.

Terminals: The B-24 is equipped with a single set of spring-post speaker terminals, mounted in the rear panel. The terminals will accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, the two 8Ω drivers are wired in parallel to present a 4Ω load at the speaker terminals.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.

Q
Will kicker cvr fit in the box?
jessie  Aug 25, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not have all the measurements necessary to check if the Kicker CVR 12" subs can fit without having to modify the box in some manor. We do know there is plenty of mounting depth for the CVRs.
jason  Aug 26, 2023 (Staff)
Q
What are the box specs? Cu ft of sealed side? Cu ft of ported side? And port tuning frequency?
anthony  Sep 04, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Tony, and thank you for your question. The engineering team at S/O which makes these for us exclusively came back with the measurements in liters. I did a conversion, Air space for the sealed side is .625, ported side is .839, and the tuning frequency is 52Hz.

Q
If I order the Sound Ordinance B-24s, what will come with it?
jeremy  Jun 29, 2022

The B-24s only comes with the enclosure loaded with the two subs. It does not come with any speaker wire or any other accessories.

Q
Is Audiotek AT2400S 2 Channel Stereo Car Amplifier - 2400 Watts enough power for the B+24 subs?
joshua  Jun 19, 2022
1 answer
A
We do not carry Audiotek gear and cannot find the RMS watt specifications for that amp online. We are not able to confirm if that amp can work. We can tell you that if the amp is bridgeable and outputs 400-500 watts RMS at 4 ohms when bridged, then that amp will work with this loaded subwoofer box.

Q
I currently have a jl audio 500/1 amp installed in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Would these subs work well off that amp? Can the box be ran at 2ohms
alex  Jun 06, 2022
1 answer
A
Thank you form your question Alex. The Sound Ordnance enclosure comes with two 8 ohm subwoofers wired in parallel to 4 ohms, It cannot be wired to 2 ohms. JL has a few models of 500/1 amplifiers, and that 500 is at 2 ohms, not 4. Your amplifier might be putting out 300 watts at 4 ohms depending on the model of your amp. 300 watts can run those subwoofers, just not at full potential.

Q
I currently have a jl audio 500/1 amp installed in my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Would these subs work well off that amp? Can the box be ran at 2ohms
alex  Jun 06, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Alex. The Sound Ordnance enclosure has 8 ohm subwoofers wired in parallel to 4 ohms, it cannot be wired down to 2 ohms. JL has a few different 500/1 amplifiers, and that 500 watts is at of course 2 ohms. Depending on the model of your amp, it may be more like 300 watts at 4 ohms. You can still run that amplifier, but the subwoofers would not be ran at their full potential.

Q
Can they be bridgeable?
keithink  Mar 03, 2022
1 answer
A
I ended up buying 3 3000 wat. Amps. And running one apm per box , but i also have 2 crunch 15 inch hooked up to the same system . The sound ordinance sub box only has one pot connection to hook up for both speakers . But yes they can be bridged , I ended up taking to sounds to finish the hook ups to the speaker . And they sound great , I go down street and sett off every car alarm and house alarm in the path .

Q
i have a soundqubed s1-850 mono, can i run these on it?
teddy  Jun 13, 2021
1 answer
A
Based on the specifications shown on the amp manufacturer's site, that amp will be able to power this loaded subwoofer box. It will not give them the most power they can handle, but definitely give them enough power for them to play like they should. We have advisors that can be reached by calling 1-800-324-9695 who can help build a perfectly matched amp/sub setup if you want to get the most performance out of your amp and from the subs.

james  May 06, 2021

I didn't measure the depth but it fits perfectly in the trunk of my Chysler 300C still have trunk space to put other stuff in there and the bass and sound is amazing you would Love it Mike ??

Q
I have a kicker 600.1 mono class d will this be too much for this ohm speackers?
elgin  Apr 16, 2021
1 answer
A
Typically, 600.1 indicates the amp outputs 600 watts at either 2 or 1 ohm. If that is the same with your Kicker amp, it actually may not be enough power to make this loaded subwoofer box sound the best it can. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to check your specific model Kicker amp and if needed, to get a recommendation on a matched system

Q
Are these subs dual voice or single voice coils?
loren  Dec 07, 2020
1 answer
A
They are single. The speakers themselves are not high end, they are pretty cheap....but for the money, his is a great unit. I have had two of them. Sold the first one because I downsized in car. Bought a car with a bigger trunk, purchased this unit a second time.

How would these sound playing classic rock - say UFO?
william  Oct 23, 2020

This speaker sounds fantastic no matter what type of music. A lot of older music lacks the real punchy bass, but it still makes it come alive. Just make sure you have the proper amp pounding it out.
toby  Oct 24, 2020
A
William , these are amazing, sound good with any type of music . I'm older so yes I listen to all kinds. My friend has jl audio and says mine sound better and hit harder. Extremely happy with these subs. Great deal as well.
joe  Oct 23, 2020
A
I have owned two of these band pass boxes, the first one I sold when I sold my car. I currently have one in the trunk of my Ford Focus powered by an older sound ordinance one channel amp. I am 54 and am a classic rock fan (Rush, Boston, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar, and Van Halen are my faves). This band pass box is perfect for hitting the bass and drums on the classic rock songs. For the money, this set up is perfect as long as you have the trunk space.

Q
What kind of amp do i need for this box?
henry  Oct 22, 2020
2 answers
A
I'll preface this by saying I know very little about audio equipment and electrical wiring, but this is the amp that I purchased from Crutchfield that has worked fine for me for the past year: Item # 109GTR60 This is the JBL GTR-601 600W amp. I also purchased the wiring kit item #007CK4 needed for installation. Now again, I don't know if that amp is overkill or not, but it definitely works. If you're looking for that insane bass you can feel in your chest, this set up is fantastic. I had everything installed at my local Audio One, but at your own risk you might be able to do it yourself.

I purchased the Bandpass Dual 12" Subwoofers. What type of wiring do I need to purchase to install it in my 2015 Toyota Camry XSE? Forgive me, I am ignorant when it comes to wiring. I also have an amplifier & capacitor that my friend gave me. I believe the amp is 3000 Heratige brand. Thank you!
tyler  May 09, 2019

You would need power, ground and remote turn on wire for the amp. You would also need RCA or speaker wire to get signal from the radio to the amp and sub. Here is a cart with everything you would need to connect an amp to the factory radio https://bit.ly/2YOg3DM

I have two subs that are 2,200 watts a piece would this box be suitable for them or would I need to reinforce the box stonger or just find a whole new box that can handle that kinda power??

Our gonna wanna make sure what kind of cubic ft of air each of ur subs r best rated at. If the box is too small M, the coils r not working in and out the way they r intended for and if the box is too big. U could have a lot of air coming out of the port snd it will sound like crap. Just giving ya a heads up.

I would reccomend buying an AMP to power the subs. Without the AMP the sound coming from the Subs will be minimal to no sound at all. Sound Ordnance has a really nice Mono block AMP that pairs with these subs very well. Ive personally been using both AMP and Subs for 4 years and no issues.

You need an Amp! Crutchfield offers a very nice 1ohm stable pioneer amp however these speakers are 250w RMS and are wired for a 4 ohm load. So the Pioneer amp that Crutchfield offers will only provide 500w RMS to this loaded enclosure. Which is more than enough bass unless you're in a sound competition contest.

The answer to your question it is indeed necessary to obtain a power amp to push those speakers you will never regret it

I don't have information on the internal measurements of the box to determine if the regular Punch series 12" subwoofers can fit it. As long as the cut out diameter is the same, it should be fine. Although some speakers are not recommended for band pass enclosures, I have had many band pass boxes over the years and have had no issues.

You can fit it inside of the box but maybe the sound won't be the best, because the specifications of both subwoofers are different

Q
Would a sound ordnance m-1500 be enough to push a sound ordnance b-24 subwoofer?
josh  Dec 03, 2015
3 answers
A
Yeah I purchased the m-1500 and the b-24's and they run perfect together it's been about 3 or 4 years and I push them hard and they sound great still to this day! It's hard to push the b-24's and get distortion from them. I would recommend!
aaron  Dec 10, 2015
A
Any amplifier is fine. The B-24 max is 500w RMS @ 4ohms. The M-1500 amplifier is 300w RMS @ 4 ohms. I'm currently running it at 300w RMS @ 4 ohms with an Alpine M500 amplifier.

Q
If this sub should be run on a 500W amp and my 2 door speakers should each be run on 100W, should I have 2 separate amps? One for my subs and one for my door speakers?
colby  Oct 13, 2015
3 answers
A
These subs do not need a bunch of power. I bought this box and a Sound Ordnance 4 channel amp and bridged it. Ran the gain at a quarter turn and they thumped. You will not hear distortion as easily with a band pass box, like you do in a conventional box. Everyone believes you have to run a lot of power to get great bass these days, you do not.
thaddeus  Mar 28, 2016

I didn't have an amp for my speakers but I ran the subs just fine with a 600W amp by itself

I am using these subs with a Alpine v-power MRP-500 mono amp. The amp has nobs on it where you can change the gain, bass eq, and low pass filter. I wasn't sure where's to turn these settings to? This bass package is rated for 500 Watts RMS so it's not the subs you would have to worry about blowing, it's burning up that amplifier. I would not recommend installing Subwoofers into a vehicle without a bass knob (remote bass control usually near dashboard) or an after market deck in which you can control and change subwoofer settings. However if neither of those two applications are viable, here's how to tune your subs. Turn your stock audio to as loud as you would ever listen to it. That way you can adjust your subs to match these levels. Now to access your equalizing knobs. The low pass filter usually labeled LPS should be ALL THE WAY DOWN. The gain should be all the way down unless there is fewer than 500 Watts being used. If you're already at your 500 mark, leave it alone. And the bass boost knob can be used for that bump you want to have in your vehicle. This is tricky because you want to get it is close to peaking your subs as healthily possible. Remember you already turned your audio to as loud as you would ever listen to it so keep that in mind during use, so as not to blow your subs. Hope this helps!

You adjust the sound to your preference. There is no specific setting that they should be at, all you need to do is listen and turn until you find what you like.

Its all about feel and preference. You will just have to play with it until you find what works for you.

It seems that these subs can handle way more than noted...I would turn the gain up and let it fly....im running them off of a arc audio 700 watt amp at 4ohms and they seem like they can take way more...

Greetings! The box only has (1) terminal for both subs. The box is wired for 4 ohms. I'm using a Arc audio 300x2 briged@4 ohms and it sounds amazing.... Can't beat this set up for the money.

This is a Band-Pass enclosure in which both subs are connected to a single + - terminal. The Amplifier i've equipped mine with is the Sound Ordnance M2250 and its a 4 channel bridged to 500 watts RMS. I couldnt be more satisfied with my equipment and by the way it looks and the price is amazing. These subs sound phenomenal in my BMW 3 series.
