Box bangs for a discount brand
1998 Ford Escort
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
This little band-pass box bangs. No, it's not a Kicker SoloBaric so you can't expect results like that. But for a discount product line it serves it's purpose. I have zero regrets purchasing this little sub after a few weeks. Maybe it won't last as long as a big name brand, only time will tell. But for the $100-ish I paid it has enough value to dollar for me. I'm not using it in any SPL contests or to out do the guy next to me with the $3k setup. I simply wanted to add just a bit of thump to a replacement system in a beater car that gets driven a lot. I paired this powered sub with a JVC media head-unit that has a 4.0v pre-amp output and there are no issues. I read some reviews where people claimed they had no increase in bass response so I was a bit nervous about the purchase but my concerns turned out to be unfounded. All I can think of is those other consumers paired this with a head-unit with a very low pre-amp voltage output and/or didn't understand how to configure gain settings at either end in addition to the other settings options.
Pros: Very good value for the price point, Inexpensive, stable installation without permanent mounting, easy 4 connection wiring, ability to enable or disable the subwoofer light, sub works well and can add a legitimate amount of bass to a system for anyone not looking to win an SPL contest.
Cons: Being an off-brand it may not last as long as name brand equipment, power and response are not that of the more expensive name brands (but again you're not paying the same price)
