The Sound Ordnance B-8P powered bandpass sub comes ready to add some dynamic thump to your ride — just wire it up for power and secure it in your trunk or cargo area. This rugged box houses an 8" sub that delivers plenty of firepower, thanks to its polypropylene cone, treated foam surround, and stamped steel basket. The B-8P's built-in amplifier powers the sub with 80 watts RMS for surefire response, and you can use the variable low-pass filter and phase control to tune the bass barrage for your vehicle.

Inside the chamber, four LED lights provide visual enhancement to go along with your bass. The durable black carpet cover protects the B-8P and your vehicle from nicks and scrapes. Who needs a powered subwoofer?

To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Good speaker!

Written By Sound ordance B-8P, Hester, louisiana on Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Nice speaker for how small it is!

Pros: Hits really good highs. The speaker is only an 8 but dont let the size of the speaker fool you!

Cons: Doesnt hit lows, but i didnt expect it because its only an 8".

Awesome, but takes time to install

Written By Spencer, Georgia on Saturday, December 13, 2014

This sub woofer and amp combo is a beast, and as everyone has said delivers solid bass. I am a teenager and I think this is fully sufficient for the bass heavy music these days. You will definitely feel that vibration, but without it vibrating your entire car, which I think is ridiculous. Also, if you do want it to shake your whole car,,, you're going to have to increase your price range a couple hundred dollars. Also note that you cannot expect to install this yourself in a quick period of time unless you are experienced with car stereo systems. I have never done anything with stereo systems, and I decided to fully re-do my '96 Jeep Cherokee's. I got this sub, 2 new Kicker speakers, and a Clarion head unit. All of these took me a total of about 10 or 11 hours to install, but in my opinion, is totally worth saving the money for somebody to install it. So what I'm trying to say is, you will run into problems, blowing fuses, missing wires, missing tools, etc. so just know you're in for a ride installing this and possibly a whole new stereo system, but I found it fun and so satisfying at the end when you get that feeling of "I FINALLY finished". Would totally recommend, even though it is somewhat a hassle to install.

Pros: Great bass Great price (you won't find a better deal for a sub and an amp) Don't have to buy or install a separate sub and amp Looks nice

Cons: Takes a while to install If you want a crazy sub that shakes your entire car, this isn't the one for you

1998 Camry

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 1998 camry. I hav a 9month old son so I need to fit a stroller into the trunk. I didn't want to get this Sub because I was scared nothing was gonna fit. But when it came in and I installed it, I had plenty of space in my trunk for groceries and the stroller. The sound coming out of my trunk is amazing! Raddls the back when I want it to. Sounds perfect and add plenty of bass to my car. Sounds nice and clear and not messy at all. Very happy with the price and sound of the sub and it was a perfect price for me.

Pros: Loud Doesn't take up too much room Good bass Is stroller proof Heavy duty Built to last Amazing sound Perfect for small trunks

Cons: None so far!

5 Stars All The Way! I did a lot of research before coming upon the 8-BP. Bottom line...This purchase was excellent! A sturdy, well made, powered sub! You could not build a box of this quality and sound for the purchase price. Rich bass, high and low. I have two 6x9 Pioneers and the 8-BP in my Nissan Frontier and the sound is fantastic!

Pros: Sturdy, well built enclosure. Powered! Ready to go, out of the box!

Cons: None

Great little bass setup

Written By Mike, Texas on Monday, November 24, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent build quality, good controls, looks really nice too. The bass is def solid inside the vehicle, but dont expect it to shake the neighbors windows! Install was done on 2013 JKUR wrangler using an audio control LC2i since the stock "top of the line" Jeep radio has no preamp outputs and totally rolls off bass and volume when cranked up! Def a huge improvement over the OEM subwoofer (which is a total joke).

Pros: Quality build, good sound, small footprint

Cons: None to speak of

very satisified

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the money spent I am very satisfied with the Sound Ordnance 8" powered sub. It's exactly what I needed to fill in the void in my system. This sub will not blow out any windows but the sound is great, powerful and more than I would expect for the size and retail. Hook up was a breeze since it was an "all in one" system. I was surprised how many more negative reviews or unhappy reviews there were on much more expensive powered subs.

Pros: wallet friendly, easy to hook up, great bass production, sub box looks good and appears to be well built

Cons: No owners manual or directions on installation and suggested crossover settings. The sub box takes up allot of room. All in all many more pro's than con's!

5 Stars!

Pros: Easy installation. Good sonics.

Cons: The price is rather steep compared to competitive listings.

great bass for your buck

Written By Jason, Hope Michigan on Thursday, November 13, 2014

Easy hook up, low power draw, and good low frequency sound from a very small space. This sub requires a little experimenting with placement for the best sound. Turned one way its barely noticable, faced the other way it sounds like two eights in a sealed box with more than 80watts rms. I got an open box model at a discount and couldnt tell it had ever been opened at all. Would recommend

Pros: Cheap small good sound seems high quality

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was looking for something to fill in the low end of my system ( pioneer head unit and polk db speakers ), I was a little worried that it wouldn't be enough to do the job in the trunk of my 2012 malibu., but after reading many reviews and talking to rusty at Crutchfield, I decided to try it and was very happily surprised, it was easy to install since I had an infinity bass link before and it doesn't take much trunk space, now I can turn my stereo up very high and everything is very clear, I was also happy with the long warranty and low price. Depending on what you want, personally I don't think you can go wrong with this sub. Thanks again Crutchfield!

Pros: Very good sound from such a small sub, space saving and budget friendly

Cons: None yet

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These things are great! I put one in my wife's car ('97 4Runner) along with a set of Kenwood separates in the front doors. The sound difference is amazing. The new speakers in the door work for the highs and mids, and the sub just rounds out the sound. I can't believe what I have been missing all these years. Bass makes music that much more enjoyable. My kid was so impressed with the sub that I got him one for his 18th birthday. He has Sound Ordnance 6 1/2" speakers in the front and rear of his '96 Jeep Cherokee and it sounded good before but now it sounds really good with this sub. I highly recommend this sub, its is a great bang for the buck. It is fairly easy to dial in and it sounds good. For that matter, the Sound Ordnance 6 1/2" speakers sound great as well. I was told by the salesman that these are Crutchfield's house brand car audio speakers. If you are looking for a decent speaker for a good price, I would not hesitate to buy a Sound Ordnance product, especially this sub.

Pros: good bass, good price, built in amp with plenty of power.

Cons: not that compact, but not huge either

Big Sound, Small Price

Written By EricE, Glendale, CA on Tuesday, September 30, 2014

2012 Honda Civic "Premium" sound system didn't sound quite so premium so I'd replaced stock speakers with Kicker 6.5" 2-way (41DSC654) which was a great improvement in sound quality, but still lacking any low-end oomph. The stock shelf mounted sub really didn't add much to speak of so that was the next upgrade. Due to space restrictions I decided to forgo replacing the stock shelf mounted sub in favor of locating the B-8P self powered enclosed sub in the trunk. For the signal I connected the existing sub high level (1-channel) to one channel on the B-8P (not sure if that's the right way to do it or not, can't get a clear answer out of Crutchfield on that).

This sub is exactly what I was looking for. Provides the perfect amount of low frequency boost (even at low volumes) and the small enclosure fits nicely in the trunk area without taking up too much room. It's not going to blow the doors off but it definitely adds the low frequencies that I was totally missing before.

Product quality is top notch, good solid construction and easy to use controls. The clear window seems strong and should stand up to the rigors of living in the cargo area. I don't have any feelings pro or con about the clear window or the led lighting since I don't spend much time in the trunk while driving.

If you're looking for a great low cost and easy to install sub, can't go wrong with this one. Big sound for such a small box that's easy on the wallet. I would highly recommend.

Pros: Big sound, small enclosure, wallet pleasing price, high quality construction, attractive design, easy to use.

Cons: A bit vague on installation instructions (can't believe I'm the first person to try and connect this to an existing 1-channel sub high level input). Their recommendation was to connect to the L & R speakers, but I would lose the dedicated sub volume control on the head unit, so I don't want to go that way. They also suggested splitting the single sub to low level and then use a splitter, but not sure if that's (a) necessary or (b) if it will improve performance. Still confused on that.

Bass Boosted 2004 Mazda 3

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great purchase for the price. Hook this up correctly and hear the bass you have been missing from your interior speakers. Small size makes it take up the footing close to an average paper grocery bag. I definitely got what I paid for and more in this little unit. Clean, clear bass comes from this little box.

Pros: small in size, clear bass.

Cons: none

Pleasant surprise

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in the trunk of my 1995 honda accord, and wow was I impressed. Definitely did not expect a 80w rms sub to perform like that. I was looking for a lower powered sub because my car's alternator is too old for a high powered one, but you would think this thing is high powered. It's not going to rattle the car next to you, but it will make your seat vibrate and the windows shake. My mom could even hear in the house at a low volume when I first put it in. This was my first time installing a sub and the installation process went smoothly. Great buy and would recommend it for anyone on a budget.

Pros: Great value Louder than expected Good sound

Cons: Can't think of any

The Sub for adults

Written By rdhqcpro, Charlotte, NC on Tuesday, September 02, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you under 25 or maybe even 30 you probably need to look at a different sub-woofer. Although this sub is MORE than capable of making the rear view mirror vibrate and sometimes I'm surprised just how powerful it really is, it will not deliver the destructive force which most younger customers are usually looking for. But if you've had enough birthday's and put a few notches in the maturity belt AND appreciate some serious bass to round out your car tunes for a low price then this is the one for you.

I am NO expert is Sub-Woofers. However, I know enough about music and have enough of an ear to appreciate good sound. This sub will fill in those low notes that interior speakers just cannot produce and will do it at a low price without sacrificing a large amount of trunk space either. It's actually a rather nice looking device as well. Is it THE best out there, I doubt it. But for the price and when you've got bills to pay this one does nicely!

I highly recommend this sub for those on a tight budget and who simply want to fill in those lower frequencies that can only be produced with a sub-woofer. This Sub turns my 45 - 60 minute commute into a 15 minute "Hey, I home already and I still need to finish my tune" ride.

Nice job Sound Ordnance!

Pros: Low Price Built-in Amp Relatively simple to install due to built-in Amp Sufficient power and bass response for most music Good Looks On / off switch for the decorative LED's Sounds fine!

Cons: Won't shatter the glass in the car in the next lane over.

Big bass in a little package!

Written By S2KiLLA, Boutte, LA on Saturday, August 23, 2014

OMG, i definitely wasn't expecting a 160w sub to hit like this! I've had sound setups in the past, and I didn't like how much of my trunk was left after. So my 27th birthday was approaching and since my latest car was already wired for an amp I figured I'd get something for my birthday.

I was leaving towards a bazooka tube, but then I stumbled across this thing for even less money and looks way better. After reading so many great reviews I had to check it out.

Hooked it up today, and MAN! You'd never think it was an 8" sub.. Love this setup and the fact that it's an all in one deal..

Pros: Hits great, looks great, awesome price.

Cons: No cons really, but it's heavier than I expected.

Surprisingly strong bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub hits much harder than I ever expected. I wanted something to just round out the overall sound in my car and this sub did an awesome job of just that. At high volumes it does start to drop off, most noticeably with bass heavy music. I bought this after previously running a 600 watt rms 12inch. So I knew it was never going to have bass as deep as I was used too, however I have been thoroughly surprised by how powerful this 8 inch hits in this nicely tuned enclosure.

Massive sound/Built like a tank

Written By CalM, Hartford, CT on Friday, August 08, 2014

I went along with this purchase after reading a lot of the reviews. I will admit that I was worried about it filling out my car through the trunk (I drive a Civic LXS 2009) but I was immediately WOWed once I got things up and running and set correctly. I have 4 polk DXi651s speakers and only 4 RCA inputs on my head unit. I plan to use a splitter to run the 4 speakers to the "Front" connection and then keep the SW on the "Rear/SW" RCA ports. So as of right now, I have the front speakers going and this monster in the trunk... I mean seriously, it's an 8 inch sub and 80 watts blah blah blah but this thing will envelope you in warm clean present bass that sounds like an absolute thunderstorm (if you want it to) and compliments the system marvelously. It's loud inside and really not obnoxious outside of the car with the windows down and doors closed. At only 120$, you would be silly to not get this if you're simply looking for something relatively compact with a lot of balls and nice features. Get excited and get one.

Also, I haven't Velcro'd it down yet or anything... The carpet exterior hold nicely to the trunk floor and this thing has some weight to it, so don't let the pictures fool you. Measure out the dimensions with a measuring tape or something to get a true idea of what it is.

Pros: The bass slams for it's size and power. Very well built product. Doesn't make my hair shake or rib-cage crack (which I appreciate).

Cons: I didn't get this way back when I replaced my stock door and rear speakers

perfect fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this for a 1971 VW Beetle so space was an issue. This unit fits perfectly in the space behind the rear seat and completes the sound system very well.

It is connected to an Alpine CDA 9884 and runs with 4 cheapo Pyle 5.25 speakers.

Sounds great.

Pros: Good punch. The lights are a nice touch.

Cons: For the price, nothing. An optional remote adjustment would be nice though.

Big Sound Little Package

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After reading so many positive reviews I figured why not give this sub a shot. I wasn't looking for a big boom sound. All I wanted was to round off the low end which this powered sub delivered perfectly. Plenty of power when you want it.

Pros: Compact box that doesn't take up much space. Plenty of power with just 80 watts. THE PRICE!

Cons: None!

Decent sounding little sub

Written By B.S., Wailuku, HI on Monday, July 21, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for something small and self-powered to augment my system (Sienna van.) When I was in my 20s I used to roll with 2x 12" sealed then later settled down with a 10" bandpass. I'm not looking for SPL anymore, but I wanted something that will round out the rest of the system nicely. Have an upgraded head unit and speakers but was missing some bottom end. Was about to order a Bazooka 8" and I came across this B-8P system. I must say that I was surprised at how compact it is. And it puts out clean sound. It's not going to shake the next car over, and I wouldn't recommend it for someone that's using externally amplified main speakers. But add it to a stock setup or a lower powered setup, it adds good bottom end and reduces distortion in your main speakers since they're not being asked to put out frequencies below 120Hz. Oh and free UPS shipping to Hawaii? Crutchfield rocks!

Pros: Clean sound from a compact unit. Very inexpensive. Free shipping to Hawaii!

Cons: If I have to be picky, the blue power LED is too bright so I put a piece of electrical tape over it. I can also see this being underpowered for a sedan if it's sitting in the trunk. Works well in something open like a wagon, hatchback or van.

Solid Sub Choice

Written By Jeff, Missoula, MT on Sunday, July 20, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After installing this, I can definitely see the value proposition that people here rave about. I was concerned, like many others, about what a single 8" sub could really do in a reasonably large vehicle like my Nissan Pathfinder. Those concerns are a thing of the past now, I'm super happy with my "bargain basement" powered sub and will keep it for the long term.

If you're familiar with the differences between a sealed box and a bandpass box, this will produce typical bandpass bass. It's not quite as "tight" as you'd expect from a sealed box, but that's not a major deal when you're simply seeking filling out the overall sound. This thing certainly provides enough thunder for my needs, I can feel it and it gives me the satisfaction of a reasonably hard hitting system. I still can't believe the price, though...value-wise, I think you could spend a lot more and get a lot worse.

When I first lit the thing up, I had to ask this thing on? I was I started looking at how my new deck was set up. Sub output on? Check. Sub gains? Eh maybe needs a little more. Bass gains? Maybe let's give it even a bit more. I think next song up on the radio was a bit of old school AC/ was but a moment before I found myself immersed in the sound, the kick drums hitting me like a sledge hammer. I totally forgot I was tuning the radio and just became lost in the music with me grinning ear to ear over the quality of my sub-$300 system. Good value sub!

Pros: Great value proposition Strong enough for a decent sized vehicle Good size LED can be tuned on/off Enough power to run the sub Integrated LPF & Phase settings Easy to read hookups Quality connections Free shipping

Cons: Bandpass bass - not as tight as sealed boxes Not much else, really

It's been 2 years since I bought this sub and I am still amazed at how great it sounds. The built in amp has held up great. The sub has had no issues. I love watching people look around when I pull up behind them and they try to figure out why their car is vibrating. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Pros: Great price. Excellent sound.

This was my first sub so I didn't really know what exactly to look for. When I asked the lady on here she told me this would have enough power for my little car but it really didn't. I was never satisfied. I would turn the power up but it never performed to my liking. Then one day it all of a sudden didn't really work anymore and I couldnt figure it out!! I asked 3 of my friends and no one knew. So I sent it back and have dreams of a real sub one day.

Pros: small, confusing to others

Cons: everything else

Big Sound on a Small Budget

Written By AudioDad, TN on Friday, May 30, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The S/O B-8P is an excellent value. Why might you ask? It's an all in one unit priced under $120 that can deliver more than adequate bass to any vehicle. Sturdy enclosure that is stroller proof. If you don't know what stroller proof is, you don't pack and unpack a giant stroller for your kids on a daily basis. As most people can relate, I updated the entire sound system and was missing bass. Since I have a wife and 2 kids, I don't have a huge budget for car audio so I was limited on my choices. Not to worry, Crutchfield had my back with the B-8P. Quick shipping, quick install, quick test, quick tune, quick smile from my wife as if I was the 17 year old with two Rockford Fosgate 15"s she fell in love with. I'm mid 30's but still a kid at heart by the way. Country, Rock, Rap, Kids Bop, it doesn't matter cause it all sounds good with this sub. I'm sure this unit has its limitations, but I will never come close to needing to meet them with my listening habits. Dads typically act rather stupid when they hang out together, so yeah, now we are blasting that old school rap, rock, etc and we really don't care how dorky we look. And yes, the previous reviewers are right about people thinking you have a set of 10's or something similar dropping that bass they are hearing. They are always surprised to see the meager little box setting in the cargo area. You can turn the lights off inside this box which is a great idea, because lights are the one feature I didn't need.

Pros: Value, Value, Value. Bass, Bass, Bass. It doesn't rattle my ride, but fills it with sound.

Cons: No cons here. This thing is perfect for the decerning dad on a budget.

Fills in the lows

Written By buyer6060, Pinole, CA on Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a powered sub to fill in the lows. Knowing I don't need two 12's to blow out my auto body panels, this fit the bill. Clear, punchy lows without the brain rattle to round out the sound. Now, the four 6.5 speakers can concentrate on anything over 100hz, which is where I have my HPF set. Clarity is more important to me than pure SPL.

Pros: Just what I needed to fill in the lows.

Cons: Took up a little more space than I thought for an 8 inch box. I have the Infinity Basslink in another car which has a smaller footprint.

So i bought this 2 years ago and i absolutely love it. For a small sub this thing packs a nice clean sound. I always have my music up to the max and the dials on the sub. Its lasted this long an going strong.

Pros: Great Sound, Compact, Minimal power, Easy to install.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, let's just say I am 100% happy with this. More details on that further down in my review. But let me qualify something first: Up until 10 years ago I did a lot of freelance work building tuned/ported boxes, usually using JL Audio subs and amps, or Kicker. One of my designs set a local record for bass output, using JL Audio 12W0's and a ported box with a firsr-gen JL monoblock amp, and hit 149 db with only two subs that had no business being that loud. That said, I always took pride in the quality of my work, and the quality and clarity of the sound.

That being said, I knew this powered sub wouldn't be pavement-cracking in terms of sheer power, but after reading so many positive reviews, I had to give it a shake for under a hundred bucks. Never heard of Sound Ordnance before, but what the heck. So this arrived the other day, and today I installed it in the trunk of my daily driver. I also just installed a new Kenwood head unit and door/panel speakers as well, and was looking forward to some extra lows.

The result of this sub install? Worth every penny. For a low-power 8" sub, this thing is efficient. Great lows. Bandpass boxes can be really teicky to tune dimensionally, but this thing is solid, and well-balanced I might add. You can actually feel it, and the sound quality is perfect for any factory or aftermarket setup that is looking for deep bass with excellent clarity, without breaking windows. Build quality is great. Awesome value, period.

Pros: Great sound quality, can actually feel the lows, solid build quality.

Cons: None

Big Boom in a Small Package

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was quite suprised at the amount of bass this tiny subwoofer enclosure produces with a variety of music like rock/metal/techno/dance/rap! I installed the sub in the trunk of a small coupe car and it actually hits pretty hard with the rear folding seats upright (closing off the trunk) and it sounds even better with one or two seats down (exposing the trunk). The small footprint of the enclosure worked out well because my trunk space is valuable for lugging groceries and sports equipment. I like the plexiglass window that covers the subwoofer so I can toss stuff in the trunk without worrying about puncturing the speaker. After reading through hundreds of reviews on this product I decided to take a chance and it was well worth the investment. The subwoofer is shipped double boxed so it arrived safely even with a rough shipping courier like UPS! Two thumbs up!

Pros: Punchy Bass, Bass You Can Feel, Sounds Great, Small Footprint, Inexpensive
