Fill your vehicle with bass, not equipment

Want to put some bass to your vehicle without a lot of fuss? Sound Ordnance's B-8PTD powered subwoofer is the latest version of the B-8PT, one of our all-time best-selling compact powered subwoofers. Sound Ordnance built this new version to perform even better than its predecessor, putting a cool-running 125-watt amp and a rugged aluminum 8" sub in an extremely compact, solid ABS plastic enclosure,so you get years of bass satisfaction. This all-in-one unit frees you from having to deal with a separate sub, amp, and enclosure, saves you cargo space, and simplifies your wiring requirements. Whether it's mounted under your car seat or in an out-of-the-way location in the cab of your truck, this little workhorse will surprise you with its impressive bass and its ability to mesh perfectly with the rest of your system.

Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered sub

This compact sub delivers strong bass without taking up much space.

Big bass from this tough little sub

A 125-watt RMS Class D amplifier powers the sub and lives on a compact circuit board mounted inside the enclosure. The sub's stiff 8" aluminum cone holds its shape even when playing hard, helping to keep the lowest notes clean, and ensuring a long life for the sub. You can adjust the low-pass filter, variable phase control, and bass boost to get the B-8PTD sounding perfect in your vehicle. Preamp- and speaker-level inputs allow convenient connection to just about any system, even a factory stereo.

Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered subwoofer

The molded ABS enclosure houses a 125-watt amp and a tough little 8" sub.

Good design helps

The B-8PTD's tough outer casing of molded ABS plastic serves as the sub's sealed enclosure and can withstand some pretty extreme internal pressure changes with no reverberating or buzzing. Sound Ordnance conveniently located the neat, clean, easy-to-understand controls on one side, opposite all the connections, so you won't get tangled in wires as you tune your bass. The control knobs and switches aren't recessed, so you can make adjustments by hand, without the need for a tiny screwdriver.

Who needs a powered subwoofer?

To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Cool Bass Sound Ordnance B-8PTD

Written By Marshall B, Jonesboro Arkansas on Saturday, August 29, 2015

Installed the unit on this Saturday 8/29/15 , took me four hours I'm guessing by the time I rounded up all the tools and finished ! I'm very impressed with Powered Subwoffer in my Regular Cab 2013 Chevy Siliverado . I thought it would make a difference , just not as much as it has ( Awesome Big Bass ) . Just hope it gives me many a years of service.

Pros: Fits perfect and out of the way , great little Bass setup ! It really enhances my Pioneer receiver and kicker speakers in the door and overhead that I purchased from Crutchfield .

Cons: None yet , but then I just installed it ! Maybe another review later down the road !

Not much boom

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed this in the spare tire hatch in the back of my SUV. It's very compact, but really lacks the range, and oomph I wanted. A separate amp/sub combo is what I need and ended going with. the JL Audio 8" 3wV3 ported enclosure fit in the same area, and provided the musical, and fun factor I desired.

Pros: Compact size

Cons: Musical range, power

Great Amp/Sub Combo

Written By Steve, Georgia on Thursday, August 27, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have been looking at an Amp/Sub combo for a long time for my 2013 Ford Escape because I wanted some base added to the factory radio. It took me a while because I was skeptical that they would really give me any good base sound. I chose the Sound Ordnance B-8PTD to fit under one of my seats. Well... it did not fit under either seat... so I started looking elsewhere. I found a perfect spot in the spare tire compartment that had an indentation that seemed to be made for it. I hooked it up per the instructions using the high-level input (from the rear speakers) and the auto-on feature. When I tried it.. it seemed to work sometimes and sometimes not. After a couple calls to Tech Support (those guys know their stuff) I had to connect the "Remote On" terminal to the ignition. It works great now. Not a thumping base but a good addition to the factory radio.

Pros: Great addition to factory radio.

Cons: None

Great performance and compact.

Does wonders for my VW Vanagon

Written By Payton S, California on Sunday, August 16, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The factory speaker size on a Vanagon is 4 inches and the bass and midrange on those small speakers are weak. This subwoofer has improved the sound 10 fold. We are loving it. I placed it behind the drivers seat. This is VW Vanagon Carat 7 seater.

Pros: Sound, ease of installation, price

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

my recommendation is that you make sure you can fit this under your seat. i thought i would be able to but i had to install it in the trunk. for me, the bass was not nearly enough. also, this sub seems to have a little extra response somewhere around the 100-150 hertz range and the effect of that is that the bass drones a little bit when you have the volume up, which was annoying to me.

in the trunk: i'd give this 3 stars. if you can put it under your seat, it's probably more of a 4 star product.

it's not meant for crushing bass, but it will absolutely fill o
