Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.
The BB12-125S sealed enclosure holds one 12" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 1.27 cubic feet. Just add the right sub, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.
Warning: This enclosure does not include mounting hardware. If you're buying a sub from us, please check "What's in the Box?" to see if screws are included. If not, you should have an assortment of heavy-duty wood screws on hand for the installation.
An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.
This is a nice box, and very inexpensive for what you get. I'd be a little happier if it was slightly thicker wood, and I did replace the stock wires with some 12ga speaker wire (I just soldered directly onto the tabs). Gold plated tabs would have been nice, and you'll definitely want to seal the speaker terminal (I used rope caulk for this) since it's just screwed in. You may want to check the tightness of those screws as well. These things are all minor considering that overall the box has really nice build quality. I'm currently running a T0D212 Fosgate in this box, as the square footage requirements are a perfect match. I would pay $10 more for a box with thicker wood and high quality wire and terminal tabs though.
Pros: Looks good, sounds good.
Cons: Terminal is not sealed (this could be a pro if you're planning on switching out the wire like I did) Wood could be thicker Could use better (thicker) wire Could use gold plated terminals
This is my third subwoofer installation. I've been an audio hobbyist since the 60's and am a repeat customer at Crutchfield.
- Sound OrdnanceT Bass Bunker BB12-125S sealed enclosure, 1.27 cubic feet
I agree with many of the review comments, this box is well made, a good size, and easy to install. Before installing the subwoofer I caulked all of the internal seams just to make sure the seals were air tight. I used wool-like internal padding (not foam) from old chair pads as the sound absorbing material and glued this to all of the internal surfaces. This was installed in a Toyota Avalon which has a large trunk. The height of the box was perfect.
The only slight disappointment was that the wiring provided within the enclosure to the external terminals was pretty thin! I added 12 gauge wiring to these before installling the speaker.
Used with: - Pioneer TS-W311D4 12" dual voice coil subwoofer - Rockford Fosgate Power T600-2 - T-Spec 1.5 farad Capacitor - Rockford Fosgate RFK4 wiring kit
Pros: construction and bracing size
Cons: The only slight disappointment was that the wiring provided within the enclosure to the external terminals was pretty thin! I added 12 gauge wiring to these before installling the speaker.
Very sturdy box. Put a rockford fosgate p3d12 on it. It fits perfect. Crutchfield had very fast shipping and the box was packed perfect!
Pros: Sturdy Nice look Good length speaker wire Good quality speaker wire
I paired this enclosure with a Sound Ordnance M2-12DVC subwoofer. The interior seams are cleanly finished and the braces are solid. I found the carpet covering unobtrusive and was pleased at how well it held up to abrasion and nudges in the trunk of my jeep cherokee. I would recommend this enclosure.
Pros: Solid construction, professional seams, quality carpet.
THIS IS A VERY GOOD SUB BOX, VERY TIGHT CONSTRUCTION, NOT TOO SMALL AND BIG ENOUGH TO REPRODUCE RICH DEEP BASS
Pros: STRONG CONSTUCTION
Fast friendly service, quick delivery, rugged enclosure, quality all around. good value. No brainer
Very well built, easy to set up.
Well built, and the solder connections are solid. The logo embroidery is actually much nicer than I had anticipated, and I like it, which I did not expect. It was perfect for my needs.
its high quality in every way. the angle on the back looks like about 100 degrees if anyone wonders
Pros: sturdy as heck angled to fit against seats in trunk drable carpet
Cons: the sound ordinance symbol is large and right on the face of the enclosure
Nice enclosure. I have one JL Audio 12w3V3-2 & it's a good match. The box is 1.27 cubic feet but Crutchfield recommends a 1.25 cubic foot sealed enclosure for the W3, which is what I'm in the process of building. This will do until I complete the custom box. Good, sturdy construction & looks good with the sub & grill installed. No complaints.
Pros: Solid construction, quality terminal cup & nice carpeting.
Have a 12 inch comp R in this box with a sound ordnance m1500 pushing it. It will knock! Surprised me.
Pros: Style, Design
Cons: One of the wires had came un hooked inside of the box when I received it
This think rocks, bought it after buying new speakers and tweeters for my car. My sound system is now BA, love it.
Pros: Very crisp bass, insane power
Cons: There are no cons! Maybe, that it's so powerful the screws that hold my license plate on my trunk keep rattling out!
Overall this is a great box for the money. I have search hard for other enclosures but none compare. This will be the best box for under $100. It comes with good features but they could have been done better, that's why it gets 4 stars.
Pros: 1. Bracing inside the cabinet is an awesome feature that doesn't come in most single 12" enclosures. It really helps the box from flexing (aka loss of bass). 2. Comes with decent terminals 3. The enclosure is caulked the help seal the box
Cons: ok the cons will contradict every thing about the pros but this is just me nit picking. 1. even though it comes with bracing, it could have used one more triangle brace between the back panel and the top panel. The side braces would be much more effective if they connected to the top and bottom. 2. The terminals are decent but i prefer ones that screw down. The spring load terminals are not as reliable. 3. The wires that come with the cabinet are pretty bad but I always plan to put heavier ga
The box has a very sturdy build and is of very high quality!!! It does not weigh very much which is good, and the brackets inside really do help with not letting the box sides flex, came with the terminals installed and speaker wire ready to go, the carpet is great quality and anyone would say it was a custom built box. Highly recommend this box for anyone looking to save space, time and money.
Pros: Great quality and sturdy, nice look, low weight, stays sealed, great size of internal volume.
Cons: Had to go through and reseal some joints due to the glue not getting into the joint, installed thicker speaker wire.
Seems to be a nice made box, haven't hooked it up yet, sales rep said it would fit the speaker with no mods but I had to enlarge the hole in order for my speaker to fit, other then that it seems to be a nice box
Pros: Made and ready to go in car
Cons: My speaker would not fit so I had to open the hole up so it would go in
Great box for my sub. Great price as well.
Pros: Price, looks great
The enclosure was smaller than I expected. The wood seemed to be high quality. I bought some pretty thick wood screws from the local hardware store. Pre-drilled holes and mounted a 12" Alpine Type-R. The sub is definitely not going anywhere. I bought this enclosure to replace a crappy box that the audio shop put the sub in when I bought it. The hole wasn't a perfect circle so it couldn't really be mounted correctly. I found the sub jumping its way out of the box on one side. This enclosure will definitely fit the bill!
I was going to test it out with poly-fill but never got around to it. Honestly, for a Type-R, I would probably recommend you using poly-fill with this enclosure, but I am by no means an expert.
The only con with this enclosure would have to be the size of the factory soldered speaker wire. This enclosure has a really high gauge (smaller) wire. I use 8 gauge speaker wire from my amp, so the wire in the closure negates any affects of a larger wire. Nothing is stopping you from soldering on your own speaker wire, however. Overall, I am happy with this enclosure.
Pros: Sturdy build High quality hardware Seamless carpet Perfect hole
Cons: Small speaker wire
very solidly built, and provides a great structure for my sub. Sealed on the inside as well as great joint fit.
I have had great experience using this brand and box over the last two years
Pros: Sealed tight to deliver good performance
It has a strong construction and perfect match for your Sound Ordnance subwoofer. The inner square footage makes a lot of boom...
Pros: Great value and well made
Cons: Only for trunk applications due to size
I slapped a JL Audio 12W3v3-2 in this box so far it sounds great and I am confident it will withstand the test of time. I have two of these boxes because everywhere I try to buy a box they are either high priced or not of quality. Wal-Mart has cheap boxes but I don't want something made out of particle board. I have a ported one and a sealed box. They are clean, well made, and built with structural integrity in mind.
Pros: Great value box, well made, rigid
Cons: Sticker in the back may fall off... so what. lol
I got this box to put a JL W3 into it. WOW! The specs are spot on and all I know is this box is well made. Some people want to say that 5/8 mdf is weak, but for this app I'm not so sure. 500 rms sub, 500 rms amp! Custom box? only if your tight on space should you go that route. For other boxes in this range, you might have to glue them together, love it, and you will too! Hits very hard, and will with any sub at these specs!!! Sound Ordinance RULES!!!
Pros: Best box that I've ever seen at this price(MADE IN THE USA)!!!!!!
Cons: only for trunk installs.
Great box for the price. Put a 12" Kicker CVR in it and it gives me nice smooth bass after the sub broke in. Only problem is: because I went with a dual-voice coil sub, we had to drill another terminal into the back of the box. Luckily my neighbor knew what he was doing, though, and it looks and sounds great!
Pros: Smooth bass sound
Cons: Had to make another hole for a 2nd terminal with DVC sub
This thing is solid. Sounds deep and tight. I don't like the Sound Ordnance logo on the front, but I can deal with it. Great Quality product. A little pricey, but worth it.
Pros: Solid, well built, nice and heavy, attractive carpeting
Cons: Pricey, Logo on front
I bought a JL12w6 and needed a box to fit my truck, I knew exactly what i was looking for. I drove around town to 4 different stereo shops and I already knew what these jokers were gonna tell me oh you need a custom box for $150, Nobody had any decent boxes in stock, I hate dealing with shops who think you know nothing. I ordered from Crutchfield before and found the exact specs for a nice box, even found it in the scratch and dent price that only had a scratch on the outside which was no big deal and free shipping cant beat that. Hooked it up the same day it came in and im pounding now.
Pros: Price and build quality
I bought this sub along with "JL Audio 12W3v3-2 Subwoofer" and "Alpine MRP-M500 Amplifier". These were installed to add some bass to my stock radio in my Honda Civic. I must say that I am completely satisfied with the level of bass this produces in this setup and would highly recommend it to anyone interested.
Pros: -Great build quality -Looks awesome -Perfect size
clean looking box,did not care for the sound ordance symbol on the box and thought it was awful light wood, but it works well
Pros: looks and sounds good
Cons: seems like cardboard not wood
Bought this box because there was no way I would have been able to build a better box for the same price. Great value and great box
Pros: Cheaper than building your own box, good build quality, sounds good
Nice quality box, well made, great price.
Hard hitting, tight base at a great price. Awesome sealed construction, feels very solid and durable. Would definitely purchase again!
I needed a new box for my new Infinity 1260w sub and this one called out to me. The opening was the exact size the sub needed so I wasn't going to do any cutting.
Box construction is very good. I doubt I could make a box for this price and that box would not have any carpet on it.
Sub is in and wired up. Box is awesome.
This is a very good looking box. The quality is excellent and it was exactly
what I needed. My main concern with buying this box was fitment because I have
an 02" Trans Am and I was worried it wouldnt fit in the rear hatch, but it
actually fits perfectly. I havent put the sub in this box yet so I can't comment
on sound quality but the build quality is very good and for all of you that have
a 93-02 Firebird or Camaro, this box will fit GREAT in the back! The box is a
little smaller than I expected, however the airpace is 1.27 and my sub calls for
1.25 so it should work great!
Purchased this sealed enclosure for my RE SEx12. Didn't fit initially, but after
some minor filing and sanding it fit perfectly (very, very snug). The sub sounds
fantastic and it is no doubt the box compliments the sub-woofer. A great box for
a great value; much better product than what i could ever hope to build myself.
very well built box. I thought the price was very good unlike other people, its already put together, glued joints, silicone sealed edges, 4 brace supports, nice looking (thin) black carpet, gold push terminals, 18in of 12ga wire, I mounted a kicker c124 with kicker metal grille as well as a dual xpa2500 amp on the side and everything turned out great. I placed my order on saturday and it shipped on monday and was at my door tuesday. I recommend buying box stuffing(poly fill) and the streetwires 14ga speaker wire from crutchfield. base bunker will ship seperate from other items ypu buy. I can only imagine that the ported base bunkers are great as well.
This product does what it says it will do. It hold's your sub and produces the tight and accurate bass that I was looking for. I used to have a bandpass box that took up half of my trunk at 17" depth, and this one was only 13", so I have more trunk space now. I was very pleased and will buy again if I needed to since the price it not too bad!
