Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB12-150V ported enclosure holds one 12" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 1.60 cubic feet. Its large vents feature rounded inner corners that keep port noise to a minimum for more accurate response. Just add the right sub, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Warning: This enclosure does not include mounting hardware. If you're buying a sub from us, please check "What's in the Box?" to see if screws are included. If not, you should have an assortment of heavy-duty wood screws on hand for the installation.

Product Highlights:

  • ported hatchback style enclosure for one 12" subwoofer
  • 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard) with black carpet covering
  • cutout size: 11-1/16"
  • internal volume: 1.60 cubic feet
  • dimensions: 18-1/4"W x 14-1/2"H x 15-5/8"D1 x 12-5/8"D2
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This 12 inch bass bunker does the job. Fully satisfied me when I put my 12 inch dual 4 ohm alpine in there and has done nothing but bring joy to my ears. This enclosure helps bring out what my sub can actually do yet I can still finely tune my sub knowing my box is perfect for the setup I have. If you want quality this is the way to go and it's not expensive at all. It's fairly priced and well made and has an awesome finish. Usually you can fit this anywhere in your trunk and I bolted mine down in a spot for now. I've got the subwoofer running at 1000 watts wired to two ohms. My car rattles and it's all I need. Money well spent and couldn't name a con about it.

Pros: Easy to install a subwoofer, the finish, the performance with the right subwoofer, light weight, simple, etc..

Cons: None

Okay Box

Written By CF, Orange Grove, Texas on Sunday, June 07, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It's an alright box. Just needs to be a little more air space for how big the ports are. Put a Rockford D2 4 ohm 12" and it doesn't sound good. Too much subwoofer for the box. A cheapo sub is probably good for this box.

Pros: Price

Cons: A lot.

Great box and very well designed!!

Bass Bunker + Alpine S 12

Written By bayouCP, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, September 29, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the best prefab box I have ever owned or heard! Have an alpine head unit, Alpine M500 amplifier, Alpine SWS 12-D4 subwoofer, RUX bass knob, with 8 gauge OFC wiring kit... Let me just say it's all about the box, especially this box. The tuning and space for this box matches the Alpine 12S almost perfectly. It was much louder and cleaner than I had expected it to be. I have heard pre fabs, even some name brand prefabs like kicker that don't sound this good! Not a car audio expert, but if you want the best box without going the custom route this is what you need! I will be making more purchases here for sure.

Pros: Build Quality, Design, Speaker Wire Included, Dual Ported, Price, Shipping, Looks.

Cons: 5/8 MDF is my only complaint.. 3/4 MDF and they would be perfect!

Very nice box for the price. Had to wait a little bit (eta changed to unknown after i ordered) but it was well worth it. Well made and sounds perfect for my setup. Might buy at least one more for my car. Wife loves the new sound in her Malibu Lt!

Pros: Seems well built and sturdy. Size - Easy to carry and small foot print in trunk Sounds loud and clear

Cons: Installed wire looked a bit old and tarnished. Re soldered my own on. Not a biggie or deal breaker

Needed an upgrade to a box I built 10 years ago and decided to go with this. Great build quality and sounds excellent. Much louder than my other box, but that could be because I went from sealed to ported.

Pros: Looks great and Sounds Great.

Great Box

Written By Anonymous, Lafayette, La on Monday, March 24, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great box that enhances the subwoofers sound. The box really fills the vehicle and can be positioned different ways to bring out or muffle the sound in certain vehicles, ie, a jeep, can be faced toward gate or toward back seat for a less "boomy" sound but you still get the loudness. Cruthfield's customer service is outstanding.

Pros: Sound, looks, size

Cons: none

Solid product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product. It's built very solid and felt like a very high quality product. Only issue is that I didn't know what the speaker gauge wire is installed in the box. Other than that it's easy to install a sub in it and sounded great in it. I returned it because it wasn't working for my set up but it had nothing to do with the product itself.

Pros: Good product. Solid build. Sounds good with my sub. Great price.

Cons: Didn't know what gauge wire was installed in it

not bad

This is the best bass bunker ever. The sound is extremely loud, which what I am looking (solid bass). This is one perfect design. I like it.

Pros: Ported single 12" subwoofer enclosure (Model BB12-150V) really made my 175 rms subwoofer sounded like a 500 rms subwoofers.

I had been looking for a small box that would fit in my car and still give great sound and this box works perfect by all means. It's small and compact with a outstanding sound quality I recommend this box 100% and might end up getting another one for my other vehicle .

Cons: Shipping did some damage to the box not to bad tho

Great subwoofer box

Written By BlakeY, Madisonville, KY on Friday, July 05, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If your looking for a single subwoofer box look no further. Very solid and well built, but remains relatively light weight without a subwoofer in it. Will accommodate just about any sub, meaning it has plenty of depth inside. It's smaller size also lets me keep most of my trunk space open. Looks much better than your run of the mill eBay subwoofer box too. As far as the sound it produces, the name bass bunker says it all! Currently running a 12" pioneer premier spl 3000, which calls for a little more air space, but it still pounds the big premier sub with no problems.

Pros: Size, price, appearance, sound, and build quality

Cons: None yet!

Perfect fit for my car

Written By Bass lover, New Jersey on Tuesday, May 28, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this at the recommendation of one of the Cruchfield techs (online chat, very convenient). Mated it to a 12" JL Audio subwoofer. This combo produces so serious bass. Box is a great size and shape (perfect volume for the 12" sub). The carpet is a good color (matches my car) and the box feels heavy and quality. Unique porting design makes it look cooler than your standard ported box. But my favorite feature, is that it fits perfectly, I mean PERFECTLY behind the 3rd row of my Armada. Almost like it was made for this truck. Couldn't be happier. Thanks crutchfield.

Pros: Quality fit and finish, unique design, perfect mate to 12" subs. Fits perfectly behind 3rd of row of my suv.

Cons: None that I could find yet.

Used this box with a Kicker 10CVR124. The sub wanted a bigger box but I didn't have the extra space. It was powered by a Sound Ordinance M1500 and the whole package sounded great. With the larger box, I'm sure you would hit a little lower, but I was very happy with how this pakage turned out.

Pros: Great box and build quality for the $$$

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this box to give my old eclipse sw6210 pushed by an alpine mrp-m450 wired at 2ohm 400w some life. I don't have room in my car for a 2.5 box, so 1.6 would have to do. I have been very impressed so far, it added alot of volume to my system, doesn't sound as clean as a sealed box, but the extra volume is worth it. Be warned it comes pre-solder wire, I had clamps wired on my sub so I had to get all the solder off to connect my sub, serious pain, ended up switching terminals from my old sub box to the sound ordnance box for a clean connection.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was amazed at how well this box brought my sub to life! For two year now I had had my alpine type-r in a cheap Wal-Mart box and never got the sound I was quite looking for. This box has given my sub a wider range of bass and I've actually had to turn down the amp because it was overpowering the rest of the music. I would recommended this box to anyone who is looking for a decent price for a well built box. It was definitely worth it

Perfect Match

Written By S.B., Stevens Point, WI on Thursday, May 20, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow... what a perfect match this box makes with the Pioneer TS-W308D2! I bought these two items from Crutchfield last week. This box is 1.60cu.ft and is tuned to 34Hz. The Pioneer TS-W308D2 has a recommended ideal Ported box size of 1.65cu.ft. I have an Alpine CDA-9825 (4volt RCA output) and a Rockford Fosgate Power 551S (550watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4ohms). I had a 1.17cu.ft sealed box and a Rockford Fosgate P1S412 (Punch Stage 1 12" 4ohm subwoofer). It was the first sealed box I ever owned and bought it because I rarely listen to rap anymore. But it just wasn't enough bass! The Sound Pressure Levels are way higher with this Ported box and Pioneer Sub (wired at 4ohms), even with Rock and Country music! My rear view mirror shakes so bad, I can't see out of it. This wasn't the case with my sealed box and RF Sub. If I owned a bigger vehicle, I would have bought two Pioneer Subs and the Dual Ported 12" subwoofer enclosure (Model BB122-175V). I highly recommend this Ported box to anyone looking for above average bass!
