Our take on the Sound Ordnance™ Bass Bunker

Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB122-175V ported enclosure holds two 12" subwoofers and offers an internal volume of 1.61 cubic feet per chamber. Its large vents feature rounded inner corners that keep port noise to a minimum for more accurate response. Just add the right subs, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Features

Materials: The Sound Ordnance BB122-175V Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style ported enclosure for two 12" subwoofers. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.

Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has two separate chambers, each with 1.615 cubic feet of airspace.

Terminals: The BB122-175V is equipped with two pair of spring-post speaker terminals, one for each chamber, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, each set of terminals has an attached 24" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.

This box is Solid. It looks great, and couldn't feel more solid. It sounds great too. I wouldn't choose any brand over Sound Ordnance for a box. Thank you Crutchfield, for supplying pure awesomeness.

i ordered this a while back (November) and i think its the best box i have ever had!! it was delivered to me in like 4 days, which i think was great. i would recommend this box because it doesn't rattle and the ports are a blast as well.

Almost a nice box.

I'd like to start my review with my call to Crutchfield inquiring about this sub box. I asked if the box could be made to different specs because my subs are different than most. I was told no. I wanted to have one inch of mdf for the front and to have 11 1/14 inch holes cut to fit the RE Audio SEx12D4s I was getting for my nephew for Christmas. I was told it wouldn't happen. So the box is very close to the specs I needed so I ordered it. First the speaker cutouts are 11 inches, not 11 1/16 inch like they say. So I'm going to have to cut this box so the subs fit, wonderful. Second, that is some seriously cheap carpet, in spots I can see through it. I would think twice about getting a box built if it weren't so close to his birthday and Christmas. Please understand my rating, I used to build better quality boxes at home with carpet and glue.

Pros:

The box size is quite nice.

Cons:

The speaker holes are NOT cut to 11 1/16"!!! They're cut to 11"!
[Editor's Note: Thanks for your review. We asked our product research team to double-check the measurement of the speaker cutouts. They pulled another box out of stock and measured each opening at four points. All eight measurements were 11-1/16" or ever-so-slightly larger than that.]

Sound Ordnance™ Bass Bunker

This is a very nice box. Its very clean looking and is visually appealing with the black carpet and design of the box. The box worked out perfect and fix snug into my trunk, its cubic feet for each side was very close to the recommended specs for my subs. It made them sound/hit so much harder. I would advise you measure the opening to your trunk to see if it fits. I measured my actual trunk space and it fit fine but I didn't think about the opening. I had less then an inch of space when putting it in. Overall if your are looking for a simply sub box I would recommend this to anyone.

perfect buy

Just bought this box on Monday, it showed up Thursday so thats great all by itself. Hooked 2 alpine type R 12s up and they sound pretty good. I cant judge it too much til I get a bigger amp, but definitely a perfect buy.

I just bought this box not too long ago and my subs haver never sounded nicer
and louder. Right now I am optimistic that the box will hold up and not slowly
disenegrate like my old box did. At the end my old box rattled and I had to put in
copius nails and screws and it still rattled and now is worthless. It was an
inferior dual 12" box that was bulit for a one 10" sub with a 250 rms amp. I
hope this one hold up.

the day i got this box i immediately got my subs out and installed them. i also
got out the amp and i had the room, so i screwed on the amp to the top. it's got
an angled back which is perfect for a car box so it doesn't get blown back. if
there was anything i had a problem with is that it only has 16 guage wiring on
the inside. 16 is decent, but if your looking to put more than 1000w in each hole,
i recommend jus getting some 12 or 8 guage wire, it's a good investment.
Overall, excellent product, i looked at 7 different brands and this was by far the
best choice. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
