Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB122-175V ported enclosure holds two 12" subwoofers and offers an internal volume of 1.61 cubic feet per chamber. Its large vents feature rounded inner corners that keep port noise to a minimum for more accurate response. Just add the right subs, amp, and wiring, then mount the enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Warning: This enclosure does not include mounting hardware. If you're buying a sub from us, please check "What's in the Box?" to see if screws are included. If not, you should have an assortment of heavy-duty wood screws on hand for the installation.

Product Highlights:

  • ported hatchback style enclosure for two 12" subwoofers
  • 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard) with black carpet covering
  • cutout size: 11-1/16"
  • internal volume: 1.61 cubic feet per chamber
  • dimensions: 32-3/4"W x 15-1/8"H x 15-7/8"D1 x 12-7/8"D2
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

This is my first ported box, but it does not fail! It makes my twenty year old Infinity Kappa's sound amazing! Of course they sounded awesome in my old box as well, but that box didn't fit in my hatch. As it is, I would by this box again if I ever needed to install more subs in another vehicle!

Pros: Very well constructed and it puts out a great sound in my hot hatch!

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I did a lot of research of what sub boxes for my Alpine SWR-12 D4n's and came across this box and glad I did. First the price is very affordable and the specs matched my subs and is very well constructed. It's looks better in person i thought it was a light gray but it's more like a charcoal grey which is a plus. Finally the subs sounds great in the box I'm currently running an amp that's only pushing my subs at half power and the bass is still pounding it's scary to see what's they will do when I get the right amp. Overall great buy. Thanks Crutchfield

Pros: Price, not too big

Cons: None

Pros: Sturdy. Not super heavy. Sounds great. Smaller than most prefab boxes.

Cons: At the moment I have no issues with this box.

This box is very nicely constucted, and sealed very cleanly on all edges and corners. It defintely looks like it will last a long time. As for performance, this box had the airspace measurements I needed for my subs and I couldnt be happier with the sound I get from them. Low notes are low and fast beats are still very clear and consistent. Great box!

Pros: Good construction Great sound

Cons: None

Crazy what difference a box makes

Written by: Jbrown57 from Monroe, OH on January 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing is amazing! It's not to heavy even with the subs (at least with mine) and fit perfectly in my trunk (03 CTS). The 2 Alpine Type R's sound amazing in this box (SWR 1221D, older 2 Ohm 300RMS) and the install was easy as could be. I defiantly will recommend this brand of prefabbed boxes to others

Pros: Lightweight for size and amazing sound

Cons: A small port between the 2 chambers would be nice for wiring the 2 subs together

Ok so i had a huge box and i was looking to save space but still keep the same BOOM! I went from over 4 ft of cubical space box in the back of a 2000 Honda CRV, holding 2 12in. Orion XTR Pro's. 1000 peek watts, 500 RMS handling power with a 600 watt Orion amp pushing both, sounded alright. But then when i installed this box i don't even think i need a better amp cause its just killing my ears !!

Love this box don't think i will b changing it anytime soon and would defiantly encourage others to buy it!

Pros: Doesn't take up much space Slams like Heck!

Cons: The wires that come in the box are basic 16 gage wire

There is nothing negative I could say about this subwoofer box, I have a set of 12" Rockford fosgates T1's and it's perfect the way the bass hits in it it's incredible, I use to have them in a ground shaker box, but the bass wasn't as deep, then one of my boys got one of these on his system and I said what the heck I'm gonna try them, and man what a difference better sound quality and cheaper price than ground shaker. Keep up the good work Crutchfield.

Good Value Box

Written by: Mason from PA on April 23, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a good box and works exactly like it says it will. The only have 2 complaints about it though. First thing was that the box did not come with any screws for the subs. I am not sure it that is common, but the subs i bought did not come with any either. The other being that the speaker wire in the box is standard wire, and it is soldered on so it is a little trickier to switch. I would think that you would want something bigger gauge.

Pros: Good Value Well Built

Cons: Does not come with screws Small gauge speaker wire

Better modified

Written by: Kade from Leamington, UT on April 9, 2013

I bought this box because the specs fits the subs I had at the time and it did ok. But then i bought some new subs and they didn't perform very good (it was a little small but still within specs). My friend had the same sub but in a box that was 1.7cuft which isn't too much bigger and it sounded a lot better, and the other box was cheaper. Then I realized that the specs sealed was perfect for my subs, so I sealed this box and I am very impressed with it now. Sounds a lot better, even better than with my first subs. Maybe I just had subs that were terrible for the box, but this box shouldn't have a lot of difference in specs between other boxes when they're both designed to work fairly with all subs. First subs were Kenwood kfc-w3012, 2nd kfc-xw12. I know they aren't the best but they get the job done for now. 3 stars ported, 4 stars sealed.

Pros: Love the internal braces. Hardly any port noise at all if any. Good build quality.

Cons: Didn't perform as well as other boxes that were cheaper.

Ad some power to your car audio arsenal!

Written by: Cameron S from Greensburg, Pa on April 4, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this bass bunker box to replace a sealed attrend box that I had my two alpine type r 12s in. The old box was causing one of my subs to bottom out on certain songs so I wanted a replacement and I figured why not ad a little output by getting a ported box? After doing some research I ended up at Crutchfield because they have affordable boxes that seemed to be well built and had the perfect cubic footage for my subs. I purchased this box and it arrived very fast! After installing it and a week or so of listening and tweaking it's definitely louder and very clean! I would definitely recommend this box to anyone who needs a sturdy, high-quality box at an affordable price.

Pros: Perfect cubic footage after sub displacement. Ports tuned to a good even frequency range. Sturdy 5/8" mdf construction. Separate chambers so can be used with one sub and upgrade to two later.

Cons: None

it works great, i have two low end pioneer 12's and they def sound better in this box than the two sealed boxes i had them in. the biggest differences i notice are sustained bass notes sound clearer and when there's two different frequency bass notes at the same time, it comes through better (idk the technical terms)...the free shipping was great, ordered it early Wednesday and it arrived Friday...overall i have no complaints...

I paired this box with 2 Alpine type R's at 1000 Watts rms at 1 ohm ,oh my! Best sounding box I've had very well constructed and no port noise to be heard. If you want to be heard coming buy this box! 5 stars all the way .

Pros: Proud to have sound ordinance in my vehicle .

Cons: None found yet.

Excellent Box

Written by: Larry from Portales, NM on July 25, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, this box was cheap dollar wise as far as dual ported boxes go. Normally, for this price you will get a mediocre box at best, this box, however, is the exception. Recieved it in a week, installed it immediately into my 07 honda accord. Sounds great with the two Boss Audio Phantom series subs I have in it. All in all, a great buy.

Pros: Well built, completely siliconed interior, carpeting was done very well and has nice clean look, price is cheap, fit perfect in the nook of my trunk against my back seat and had clearence to install the amp on top of the box.

Cons: None that I know of.

First off i would like to say thanks to Crutchfield for being based in VA because all of the shipments come fast! Now about the box. This company right here knows how to make their boxes look great and sound great. I was a lil sketchy of buying this box until I read the reviews and boy were yall honest and right. This box is awesome! I put 2 Kicker CompVR 12" subs in there, wired them correctly, and have a 1500 watt amp pushing explosive power to them and boy do these things bang. Also, the box looks so great in the trunk of my 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Doesnt take up much space looks great with the Kicker CompVR cause of the color (which is black and gray and the box is black and the SO logo is gray) and also it matches perfect with my jeep cause its also gray. I am proud of this purchase, thanks Crutchfield!! and also thanks for putting Sound Ordnance on the map with all the other big companies! Go VA!!

This IS a 5 Star Product! Don't listen to bad reviews!

Written by: Lucas600rr from Pa on April 3, 2012

Everything about this box is 100% 5 Star Quality. There is a certain review on this products page from someone that, if you couldn't already tell by the words, spelling, and measurments, must be a very young and/or very intelligence-challenged!!! These are high quality production spec. boxes which are most likely premade at a production facility and are not custom/made to order, which anyone can tell by looking at the product page. Also if for some reason you should happen to have subs that are soooooooo much different than every other sub on the market for the past 30 years, then you would most likely already know that a custom made enclosure would be required when you bought them because they would be so rare that they almost wouldn't even exsist! I would recommend this box to anyone looking for a high quality production made sub enclosure to mount any standard production made subs. In a word AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Everything about it! Fit, finish, construction, materials and operation, are all great. Also very reasonably priced.

Cons: Non as of now, which is approx. 8 months.

Almost a nice box.

Written by: EricD1234 from Quitman, GA on December 14, 2011

I'd like to start my review with my call to Crutchfield inquiring about this sub box. I asked if the box could be made to different specs because my subs are different than most. I was told no. I wanted to have one inch of mdf for the front and to have 11 1/14 inch holes cut to fit the RE Audio SEx12D4s I was getting for my nephew for Christmas. I was told it wouldn't happen. So the box is very close to the specs I needed so I ordered it. First the speaker cutouts are 11 inches, not 11 1/16 inch like they say. So I'm going to have to cut this box so the subs fit, wonderful. Second, that is some seriously cheap carpet, in spots I can see through it. I would think twice about getting a box built if it weren't so close to his birthday and Christmas. Please understand my rating, I used to build better quality boxes at home with carpet and glue.

Pros: The box size is quite nice.

Cons: The speaker holes are NOT cut to 11 1/16"!!! They're cut to 11"!
[Editor's Note: Thanks for your review. We asked our product research team to double-check the measurement of the speaker cutouts. They pulled another box out of stock and measured each opening at four points. All eight measurements were 11-1/16" or ever-so-slightly larger than that.]

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very nice box. Its very clean looking and is visually appealing with the black carpet and design of the box. The box worked out perfect and fix snug into my trunk, its cubic feet for each side was very close to the recommended specs for my subs. It made them sound/hit so much harder. I would advise you measure the opening to your trunk to see if it fits. I measured my actual trunk space and it fit fine but I didn't think about the opening. I had less then an inch of space when putting it in. Overall if your are looking for a simply sub box I would recommend this to anyone.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just bought this box not too long ago and my subs haver never sounded nicer
and louder. Right now I am optimistic that the box will hold up and not slowly
disenegrate like my old box did. At the end my old box rattled and I had to put in
copius nails and screws and it still rattled and now is worthless. It was an
inferior dual 12" box that was bulit for a one 10" sub with a 250 rms amp. I
hope this one hold up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought and installed this box, it's very solid and my 12" Alpine Type R's fit perfectly. As long
as you configure your subs properly, you will need nothing more. The box is great. The
material is very strong and looks very durable. If you have space for it, my recommendation
is for you to try this box . Awesome price, excellent box.

Materials: The Sound Ordnance BB122-175V Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style ported enclosure for two 12" subwoofers. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.

Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has two separate chambers, each with 1.615 cubic feet of airspace.

Terminals: The BB122-175V is equipped with two pair of spring-post speaker terminals, one for each chamber, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, each set of terminals has an attached 24" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.

Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.

I can't remember but it will work. I had 2 alpine type r 12 inch subs in mine. And they are rated at 1000rms a piece. [ JEFFREY  Dec 18, 2015 ]

That will depend on how large your current box is. This box is pretty compact for a dual subwoofer enclosure. For information on comparisons I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Jeff  Dec 06, 2015 ]  Staff

Hey thank you guys for your answers. I cant wait til my box come in now [ Josh  Mar 07, 2015 ]
Yes, just depends on the speakers ya got to what's passing them and how loud. [ JASPERW  Mar 06, 2015 ]
Ported boxes in general produce lower, due to less restrictions of the sub verses a sealed box, also the sub takes less power to sound good verses needing more power for sealed box. But you still need to properly match the sub to the enclosure also. Rule of thumb is to at least have a amp that will put out a minium of 3/4 of the subs RMS WATTS, it is better to over power a sub then to under power one, under powering a sub can possibly damage a sub. [ RICKY A  Mar 06, 2015 ]
Josh, great question. I bought this box last year and love it. It is fairly large, and the cubic space matches most sub requirements for a ported box. I currently run two JL w3v3 svc 12" subs, wired at two ohms with a jbl gto mono class D amp In my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It pounds with punch and with great lows. You can hear me coming from at least mile away in rural area. If you want people to hear coming from farther away, it's going to be the subs and amp that you choose, not so much the box. You just want to make sure the box (cubic space) meets your sub requirements for a ported setup. Hope this helps. Justin [ MATTHEW J  Mar 06, 2015 ]
It's all relevant to what subs and how many watts your running, this is definitely a great box and it made my subs hit hard and low. I would definitely recommend this box especially for the price. [ JACKSON  Mar 06, 2015 ]
Yes that's what you would have to do. Anymore questions let me know! [ HERSHELL B  Feb 12, 2015 ]

I have it in my 1999 BMW 528i, and it perfectly fits all the way to the back. Just go out with a tape measure and match the specs, give your self some play room for thought tho. [ CHRIS  Feb 11, 2014 ]
I would measure just to be safe. I bought one for my 2003 4Runner and it fits perfectly behind the seats with room for other stuff in the back. [ NOHE SEBASTIAN  Jan 15, 2014 ]
It will be snug [ BRIAN  Jan 15, 2014 ]
It's a pretty big/heavy box. Not too sure how big the trunk of an Altima is, but if you can make it fix you won't regret it. This box allows me to bump harder then any other dual 12" subs. I've even bumped harder then two 15" subs. This box is worth it. [ JOHN M  Jan 15, 2014 ]
There is plenty of room left but you need to measure your truck vs the box measurements. [ JOHN  Jan 15, 2014 ]
