Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker enclosures come built to last and ready to help your sub deliver real low-frequency firepower. These unloaded boxes feature high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations. Rounded outside corners and recessed panels allow them to fit into more vehicles, while tough black carpeting defends against incoming nicks and scratches. Bass Bunkers make a great solution when building your own box is not an option.

The BB82W package includes a pair of sealed wedge-style enclosures. Each enclosure holds one 8" subwoofer and offers an internal volume of 0.35 cubic feet. Just add the right subs, amp, and wiring, then mount each enclosure securely, and you're ready to hit the road with some real bass artillery in your arsenal.

Warning: This enclosure does not include mounting hardware. If you're buying a sub from us, please check "What's in the Box?" to see if screws are included. If not, you should have an assortment of heavy-duty wood screws on hand for the installation.

Why do I need an enclosure?

An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm using this enclosure for a prototype portable Bluetooth unit. The internal area is almost perfect for a 6.5" woofer with some damping material added. Very well constructed and perfect for my application. The cut out was a bit small but a router took care of that. Thanks Crutchfield for making this product available at a great value!

Pros: Very well constructed. Sufficient gauge/length wiring from the rear connector to attach to the driver. Quality connector on the rear. The internal bracing is a nice addition. External carpeting is fantastic! Very nice product.

Cons: I wish the insignia wasn't printed on the front face. It just doesn't fit in custom installations.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great boxes, works great. I was a little concerned about the thin wood used but they are very well constructed. I'm not a fan of the speaker terminal conections. Not that these are any worse than others, but you have gold plated conectionson the outside with stainless steel conections on the inside. I recomended removing these and run the wire straight through.

Pros: Great box, excellent price for value

Cons: Wood still could have been thicker

No longer skeptical

Being only 3/8 thick my first impression was too much panel vibration! After holding & checking the box out I was a lil more convinced on its abilities. It has a lil bracing put appears beneficial. So I mounted my 8w3v3's in them and they fit rather well. I placed them in my trunk rear facing & turned it up. To my astonishment they sounded much louder than expected! Even though they are constructed of thin mdf they still provided a lot of bass for small boxes. These provide great low end for all my musical tastes, even hip hop. Just keep in mind these are sealed & they do have their limitations & can't dig as low like a ported enclosure. I must say I would recommend them for they have a small enough footprint where they don't take away to much trunk space.

Pros: Out of the box ready install

Cons: None to report

Perfect for application

Boxes were as advertise, Polk Audio 8" woofers mounted and they fit in my NC Miata with just a little coercion.

(2) 8 inch sealed sub boxes are a perfect fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Came with 2 boxes. Perfect Fit... 1 in the trunk of my 95 cutlass drop top with a 8 inch Infinity 860w 300 watt amp. The other in the back of my 91 Jeep yj with 8 inch JBL GTO804 with 300 watt amp. Nice and smooth bass, that can be heard a 1/2 block away. I can feel the bass and shake the car mirrors. The subs only needed .35cu and .30cu and the Boxes are a Perfect Fit....I did have to trim the box opening 1/8 for the woofer lip to fit. I'm more than happy with boxes.

Pros: fits in small spaces sound really good with my two subwoofers

Cons: none

Great Enclosures

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I matched a pair of JBL 8" subs to these enclosures. Wow. It sounds like I have 10 s and not 8 s. Construction seems sturdy the connections are alright. The only thing I would change would be the thickness of speaker wire. What is in the enclosures seem to be 14 gauge maybe 16. Anyways if you have an extended cab truck or small area and just want to run 8s these are perfect solution.

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

This will easily fit behind my front seat , only have 20 x 10 in space to fit . The boxes being separate makes it easier to fit. [ GARY  Jan 08, 2016 ]
