Features

Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M-1500 is a mono-block Class AB amplifier with an RMS power rating of 300 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 500 watts per channel into 2 ohms.Power ratings are measured with an input power of 14.4 volts.

Crossovers: The M-1500 is equipped with a low-pass crossover and a subsonic filter. You can set the low-pass cutoff frequency between 40Hz and 300Hz. The subsonic filter, designed to block ultra low frequencies that can damage speakers and rob amplifier power, is variable between 10Hz and 40Hz. The crossovers have a 12dB per octave slope, and cannot be turned off.

Bass Boost: The amplifier has a rotary bass boost control. Boost is continuously variable from 0dB to +12dB and centered at 45 Hz.

LED Indicators: The M-1500 features two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.

Remote Bass Control: The amplifier comes with a remote bass control module to allow you to adjust the volume of the amp from the front of the vehicle. The module has a rotary volume control knob, and an LED to indicate when the amplifier is turned on. The module is designed to mount under the dash, and comes with 16-1/2 feet of cable.

Connections

Removable End Caps: The end caps on the M-1500 are removable with a 3mm Allen wrench (not supplied) to make it easier to attach the power and speaker wires.

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. (An 8-gauge amplifier wiring kit is recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is a set screw terminal that will also accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Connections: The speaker connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. Even though this is a mono amplifier, there are two sets of speaker outputs. The terminals are wired in parallel internally, allowing you to connect two 4-ohm speakers to separate terminals. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

RCA Inputs and Outputs: The amplifier features a pair of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your head unit. There is also a pair of stereo RCA outputs for feeding the preamp signal to another amplifier, if needed.

Fuses: The M-1500 features two 30-amp ATC blade fuses.

Q
Can this amp be used for full range or sub only?
krooked  Oct 19, 2017

A
This amplifier is a mono channel amp, which means that it is designed only for use with sub woofers. In my case, I bought this amp to power a 300w kicker comp-S in my sedan. The amp arrived within a few days and I was thoroughly impressed with the build quality. The installation was a breeze, and within a couple of hours it was put to use. One Installation note is that the amplifier has a grate section on the bottom to allow for airflow. When I first installed the amp in my trunk, I had it sitting with those vents covered up. As a result, the amp got very hot and went into protection mode. This problem was easily fixed by propping the amp up on two pieces of wood in order to allow airflow under the device. After that was fixed, the amp has barely even been warm to the touch. To conclude, I would definitely recommend this amp to any one that is looking for a good amount of power for not too much money.

Q
Will this amp push kicker (2) 10c154 comp s 15" 4 ohm subwoofer in a sealed box of my 2015 Chrysler 200 good ? Cause I was told that on the phone by Crutchfield worker, subwoofer is 50-250 Watts RMS. Peak power handling: 500 watts. Because I was skeptica because I was on the phone and a previous worker told me 1000 w ken wood amp is the one for it, and I had a friend which had a 1200 w amp (4 channel). And just thought that amp will underpower the subs.
dwily  May 03, 2017

A
As long as the 4-ohm coils on each of the Kicker 10C154 subwoofers are wired together in parallel to show the Sound Ordnance M-1500 amp a 2-ohm load, then that would match up very nicely. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Hope that helps!

Q
Can i run this amp off a stock head unit. I'm wanting to run this amp in a 1995 Toyota Tacoma pushing a pioneere twelve how would I control it through the head unit?
zach  Mar 10, 2016
2 answers
A
First off, you will be very limited w/ a stock deck that had no RCA out puts... The only way I know is, you have to buy a inline output converter and connect it to the stock speaker outputs... Then you can run some some RCA's to your Amp.. Your best friend will be that bass knob & dials that the Amp comes w/ especially since you don't have a sub output fr the deck... Good Luck.!
owen  Mar 12, 2016
A
Im sure you can connect to your Toyota but you will need to buy a rca converter. That is what I bought and used to connect to my stock factory head unit in my 2013 infiniti g37x

Q
Where is the best place to mount this amp? I will have two 12 inch subs connected to it and the subs will be in the trunk. I heard it's bad to mount an amp on the sub box, so where would be the best spot
joel  Feb 11, 2016

A
I would say your best bet would be on the back of your rear seats. I put mine on the back of my subwoofer even though I read its bad, but not much changed in my opinion.
andrew  Feb 11, 2016
A
I mounted mine with capacitor on the back of the back seat. You might not have enough power to power 2 12s

Q
How would I wire 2 double voice coil subs rated at 2 ohms each to this amplifier to get a 2 ohm load on the amplifier?
joel  Jan 24, 2016
1 answer
A
You need to wire the positives to the positive terminal of the amp and both negatives to the negative terminal of the amp to achieve a 2 ohm to 2ohm hook up.
mark  Jan 25, 2016
Q
It says this is a mono amplifer, but there are four speaker terminals. Wouldn't that make it a two channel amplifier?
joel  Jan 24, 2016
1 answer
A
Even though this is a mono amplifier, there are two sets of speaker outputs. The terminals are wired in parallel internally, allowing you to connect two 4-ohm speakers to separate terminals.

Q
Which of the adjustments is considered the gain on this amp?
taylor  Dec 30, 2014
2 answers
A
I'm pretty sure the input level would be considered the gain adjustment.
paul s  Jan 01, 2015
A
Honestly i used the bass gain remote that i also came with the amp. Your supposed to use only 3/4 up in the gain without the remote but with it you can adjust from up front without ever touching the amp. It does have a rotary bass control but use the remote it will make a difference.

Q
will this amp work under a seat or will it over heat from not enough air space?
john  Oct 16, 2014

A
Mine is "slightly" tucked away in the rear of my truck, and it gets hot but I'm pushing two Polk audio Dxi's. If your using most to all the power this things puts out its gonna get warm after 30 min and hot around 45 min of continuous MAX output. hope this helps. Also, i have had this amp for over a year and it is loud and reliable, no problems what so ever, great build quality!
michael  Oct 20, 2014
A
I keep it in my trunk and it overheats when it gets real hot outside. It has a cutoff feature though so it doesn't get ruined. All I do is open up the back seat and blast the A/C so it cools off. As long as you have good airflow over it it should be fine.
paul s  Oct 18, 2014
A
I would have to say no it would not, the footprint of the amp is just entirely too large. I went with a Rockford Fosgate amp and it worked fine, but this thing is entirely too large.
ricky  Oct 17, 2014
A
It will work and doesnt get hot from no airapace but i had this amp attached to the backseat in my civic hatchback. So honestly under your seat i couldnt tell gou yes or no bit hell of an amp
gabriel  Oct 17, 2014
A
In my opinion it would not be too hot to mount under seat but possibly too big. Amp never got very hot on me. Definitely would not fit under my Honda accord seat

Q
Will a mono channel amp work with a dual sub system? or is a dual channel necessary?
greg  Apr 29, 2014

A
I connected 2 JL Audio single subs to this amp and it was too loud for my taste. So my answer is yes you can.
ryan  May 01, 2014
A
This amp has two channels, I has it powering two dxi polks. And it does the job. I have it tuned bad and need to take it in to a shop but I defently does the job.
michael  Apr 30, 2014
A
Yes it will work perfectly fine. It will also turn your 2 ohm in to 4 ohm phase. Good amp powerful and full hitting hard amp.
gabriel  Apr 30, 2014
A
It will work with a dual sub system, that is I was running it with the subs wired in parallel. You can get a two into one connection from Radio Shack or just run both connections to the single connection...either way it will work.
curtis  Apr 30, 2014
A
All depends on how you wire it
burbon  Apr 30, 2014
A
As long as you do not push less than 2 ohms. Two 4 ohm subs wired parallel will work fine with the 1500. Two 2 ohm subs will not.
