Win the battle for great sound in your ride. Sound Ordnance amplifiers feature tough construction, rugged looks, and a 3-year warranty, so you can enjoy the full power of your music for the long haul. Even better, you can add Sound Ordnance to your arsenal at a surprisingly affordable price.

The Sound Ordnance M-2250 2-channel amplifier deploys 175 watts RMS to each channel, giving your music plenty of firepower. Or you can bridge the M-2250 to mobilize 500 watts RMS to your sub. An adjustable high-pass filter makes sure your full-range speakers operate within their optimum range and give you the best tone possible. If you're driving a sub, the variable bass boost and low-pass filter allow you to control your bass barrage at will.

The M-2250 amplifier uses sophisticated power supply and output technologies to ensure clean amplification from the inputs all the way to your speakers. Special circuits protect the amp from overheating and short circuits, and a turn-on delay virtually eliminates that annoying thump when you crank up your system.

Although this amplifier has a port for a remote control built in, it's not functional, and a remote controller for this amp is not available.

Features

Power Ratings: The Sound Ordnance M-2250 is a two-channel Class AB amplifier with an RMS power rating of 175 watts per channel into 4 ohms, and 250 watts per channel into 2 ohms. The amp can also be bridged into a 4-ohm load for a power rating of 500 watts. Power ratings are measured with an input power of 14.4 volts.

Crossovers: The M-2250 is equipped with both high-pass and low-pass crossovers. You can set the low-pass and high-pass cutoff frequencies independently between 40Hz and 300Hz. A 3-way switch lets you select low-pass, high-pass, or full range operation. The crossovers have a 12dB per octave slope.

Bass Boost: The amplifier has a bass boost control (labeled Bass EQ on the amp), centered at 45 Hz and continuously variable from 0dB to +12dB.

Mode Switch: You can easily switch between stereo and mono operation with the 2-way Mode Switch.

LED Indicators: The M-2250 features two LED indicators: a green LED that illuminates when the amp is powered on, and a red LED that illuminates when the amplifier is in protect mode due to overheating or a short circuit in the speaker wire.

Connections

Removable End Caps: The end caps on the M-2250 are removable with a 3mm Allen wrench (not supplied) to make it easier to attach the power and speaker wires.

Power Connections: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. (Due to the fuse rating of the amp, 8-gauge power and ground wire are recommended.) The remote turn-on terminal is a set screw terminal that will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Connections: The speaker connections are set screw terminals that will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

RCA Inputs and Outputs: The amplifier features a pair of stereo RCA inputs for connecting your head unit. There is also a pair of stereo RCA outputs for feeding the preamp signal to another amplifier, if needed.

Fuses: The M-2250 features two 25-amp ATC blade fuses.

Remote: Although there is an RJ-45 port on the amp labeled Remote, the port is not functional and no wired remote is available.

kenneth  Jun 15, 2018

Q
Does this have a mounting bracket?
travis  Apr 26, 2018
2 answers
A
There are no mounting brackets that come with it. There are 4 plastic bushings that come with it to put underneath the unit that will run in line with the screw holes.
christopher  Apr 26, 2018
A
I bought this a few years back. It doesn't have a bracket, but there are holes in each of the 4 corners. I used those with long screws to mount it to the side of my subwoofer enclosure.
tyler ray  Apr 26, 2018
Q
Will this amp do "unbalanced output"? As in one channel pushing 250w x 1 into 2 ohms and 175 x 1 into 4 ohms.
james  Feb 15, 2018
1 answer
A
No it will not at all , no amps will do that , unless it's a 5 channel amp and usually it's meant for your 4 door speaker to one sub
coby  Feb 19, 2018
Q
What gauge wires to power this amp?
robert  Oct 27, 2017
1 answer
A
4 to 6 AWG will do this amp just fine. Use reducers if you plan on using bigger diameter wire (IE: 4 to 8 gauge reducer). Makes installing easier and cleaner, while insuring a good connection.
joey  Oct 28, 2017
Q

Q
My amp had been working fine and then stopped completely. Unit powers on with head unit, but Protection light is on and no sound comes from the speakers. The manual says that the Protection light indicates a short in the speaker connection, but even with both speakers disconnected the light stays on. What could be causing this and how do I fix it?

Q
Does this amp accept balanced or unbalanced inputs?
michael  Aug 22, 2016
1 answer
A
I want to say it accepts balanced inputs, it's been a couple years since I've used this amp so I don't recall. I do remember this being a decent amp to use if you have the right subs

Q
Would this amp work with kicker speakers that have 150watts Rms, 450 peak power?
xavier  Mar 09, 2016
1 answer
A
This amp puts out 175 watts RMS x 2 at 4-ohms which would match up nicely with your 150 watts RMS Kicker speakers. Generally you want your amp to produce between 75-125% of your speakers RMS power rating; so if your speakers are rated for 150 watts RMS, an amp rated between 110-190 watts RMS per channel would be an ideal match. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
Should the power light stay on even when the car is off? Or is it draining the battery when the power light is on? And should the protected light be on? If not, is there any major concern?
tre  Dec 18, 2015
3 answers
A
Lights should be off when car is off. The remote lead wire should be tied to an inviting power source so amp is signaled to turn on only when ignition is on. Sounds like your remote power wore is tied to a battery line (constant power). Yea it will kill your battery.
michael  Dec 18, 2015
A
The light was only on when the power was switched on for the unit we installed. Check to be sure that the switching wire from the stereo, blue I think, does not have any current in it when the car and sound system is off. Not sure about the protected light, but no lights were on when off. We will be getting this car back in this winter and if needed I could check that light for you then. If the amp is actually powered on when the car is off, it will drain the battery.
william scott  Dec 18, 2015
A
The power light should only be on when your stereo is on, assuming you've correctly hooked up the remote power cord. If you wired it without the remote line, you'll need to manually power the unit on and off, and yes, it is draining your battery while that light is on.
