Add some boom to your ride

Win the battle for boom with subwoofers from Sound Ordnance. Throw one or two of these bad boys in your vehicle to give you bass you can feel. You'll love the difference these subs make, and adding them to your system won't destroy your budget.

Built like a tank

The M2-8SVC 8" subwoofer comes with a tough glass fiber cone that will keep its shape when the music's turned up, so your bass stays accurate. The butyl rubber surround helps keep the woofer's movement on track, and it'll stay pliable for years to come. The stamped steel basket provides a stable home for the whole assembly, so your bass plays the way it should. Also, Sound Ordnance backs up this sub with a 3-year warranty, giving you peace of mind while you're rocking hard.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

This is a great little subwoofer. I purchased to replace a busted OEM subwoofer in my 2002 Ford Expedition. I read some of the forums only before purchasing and I have successfully install this subwoofer and the Sound Ordnance M2100 amplifier in the stock enclosure/location with very little modification. I was able to keep the original power and signal wiring as is but I changed the fuse in the amplifier to a 25A fuse to protect the original power cables. I did have to modify the original subwoofer enclosure. This 8" was too deep for the box b/c of the reverse hump in the back. Online someone said they heated it until it flatten out. I just cut the plastic hump out and filled it with a piece of MDF wood. I did not add any additional poly-fill other than the stock stuff that's in there. I measured the enclosure and it is roughly 0.6 cubic ft which makes it suitable for this subwoofer. Now this is an 8" so don't expect it to do any damage but it is a great upgrade for stock 8" subwoofers. I highly recommend. For the amplifier, I had to remove the shiny silver plastic by removing the screws and tearing off the decorative silver plastic. Fit well in original amplifier location with cup holder removed.

Pros: Great sound from small package

Cons: None

I am using this sub in my 2000 XJ in the Select Increments XJ-Pod 8" Subwoofer box (sealed) for 84-01 Jeep Cherokees. The sub is powered by the Sound Ordnance M-1350 amp and the head-unit is the Alpine CDE-153BT CD Receiver. Together, it sounds great and I wish I had done this years ago.

Pros: Great sound, better than I expected out of an 8" sub, especially for the price! I really like S.O.!

Cons: None

I needed some bass in my old vehicle and did not want to spend to much. Called up and spoke to the rep and he suggested the 8" for my application, due to using my old amp for power. Crutchfield is great because they helped me figure out how to bridge the amp that I bought from them in 1999. Lifetime support baby! Anyway, got my sub, built a box to fit under the passengers seat and hooked everything up. It sounds great! Fills in all the sound and thumps like my old 10" sub that I used to have in my truck. My kids love the sound system, and now we have a great time in the car listening to all types of music. Next I'm upgrading the stock door speakers. What will I buy? Sound Ordinance components.

Pros: Full sound with little space

Cons: So loud, could hurt your ears. But that's why I bought it.
