1997 Nissan Hardbody
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are nice bit they were a bit challenging to install. I'm a handy person and still had some challenges mounting the speakers, I did eventually mount one but I was not impressed with the fit. Maybe sometime in the future I'll mount the other one.

Overall, the sound is not bad especially for the size of the speaker. I gave the speakers a three star not for the sound but instead for the installation fit. There should be a better installation bracket which would provide a better fit.

Pros: Good sound for the size.

Cons: Complicated installation bracket.

While being sceptical is the least of my problems I decided that I would pick these over kenwoods. Having always been a stickler for good audio i definitely approve of these speakers. Price and performance wise i couldn't do better. I love them.

Pros: Top-notch sound and integrity from such a small source

Cons: Cannot handle sharp dense bass tones at higher volumes. Almost explode.

Good Stock Replacements

2003 Chevrolet Malibu
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speaker in my drivers door had failed some time ago and I decided it was finally time to replace it. Crutchfield had a better price on a pair of speakers than I found on a single OEM style replacement anywhere else. The speaker itself fit with no issue and as others have already stated, they are not meant to crank the volume to the moon. Good value for the money. My only (minor) issue was with the length of the wiring harness/pigtail. For my application - a 2003 Chevy Malibu, the harness was adequate but slightly longer would have been better.

Pros: Good value, perfect fit.

Cons: None with the speakers. Wiring harness could be slightly longer.

Slightly better than stock / Bass Blockers

Written by: Jeff P. from North Carolina on October 7, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are just slightly better than the stock speakers in my 2004 Jeep Wrangler. With that being said, Bass Blockers improve the sound dramatically by removing the bass from the speakers. The subwoofer and 5 1/4" speakers do a much better job of handling the bass. I did have to send one pair back due to the popping. Crutchfield was great as always.

Pros: Cheap Easy install Slightly better than stock

Cons: Only slightly better than stock Had to buy Bass Blockers to improve sound

1998 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price these are good speakers. I installed them to replace the factory ones that were installed in my Jeep Wrangler TJ. They have a clear difference in sound but have little bass and the highs are not entirely crystal clear, but yet I am also picky and have been use to top notch sound systems in my "daily driver" vehicles. Regardless, between the free shipping, free installation pieces and fast delivery, for $25 they are well worth it.

Pros: Inexpensive for a substantial upgrade from factory speakers.

Cons: Install plates that came with them are not properly drilled, you will need to drill your own mounting holes. No big deal, but was a small annoyance. Highs could be a little more clear.

Speakers were for stock replacement in 2001 Jeep Wrangler. Speakers are being used with factory CD player. Speakers sound just as good as factory speakers.

Pros: Sound quality is just as good as factory speakers.

Cons: No improvement over factory speaker sound. Drilling was required to attach speaker to provided mounts.

Good value speaker

Written by: C from Charleston, SC on February 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We bought these to replace a mismatched set of speakers in a customer's VW camper van. We'd have liked to have gone larger, but were limited to 4x6 by the factory locations. These speakers dropped right in, and came with adapter hardware we didn't need (for replacing plate speakers). Didn't include grills (which we knew going in; 4x6 speakers with grills are rare), so we re-used what was there. No speaker wire was included, but at this price point that is a minor concern.

Pros: Value, sound, mounting adapters.

Cons: No grills, no speaker wire.

2001 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

New Crutchfield replacement radio in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler let me know factory speakers had to go. I'm not a sound hound or bassboi; I wanted something without a big cash outlay. (2001 Jeep, right) Picked these speakers for the dash based on price and ratings - and Crutchfield sale didn't hurt either. I am very happy with them. Sound quality compared to the factory speakers is easily heard by everyone who's listened. Crutchfield installation instructions - spot on. Additional installation kit had adapter cables (snap in, fit perfectly) and a stamped metal bracket. As far as the latter, it was initially confusing for matching up the holes until I sat down for a bit, went over the instructions again and got everything put together. I also replaced the rear sound bar speakers (same manufacturer) and the difference from factory is night and day. HD radio quality is easily noted. Low price and good sound quality - these are well worth it.

Pros: Very good sound quality at a low price

Cons: Good packaging, fun military theme, but cheesy plastic dog tags, srsly?

these speakers look great and sound great. before i got these, i had a set of sony explodes that were the same size and to me they sounded louder than these. however the material seems to be more durable and better quality. it would have been nice if they made these as 4 way speakers also but these do the job. overall i'm pleased and i wont be going back to my old speakers, these sound smoother. i believe that maybe hooked up to an amp they would perform a little better so they are worth it.

Pros: easy to install, look good, sound clear

Nice two way speakers, budget priced, replaced rear speakers in an older vehicle. Sound is good. No speaker covers with these, fortunately did not need them. Have good mounting bracket for universal fit and includes fasteners and connectors. Foam gaskets were sandwiched in the cardboard box, didn't see them until done with the install. No detailed instructions to illustrate these.

Pros: Decent price, USA company, sound is good

Cons: No covers, lacked detailed instructions

1996 Chevrolet Blazer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For what I spent on these they aren't bad sounding at all. Be aware though, that these are great for OEM speaker replacement. Which means they aren't designed to crank the snot out of them and expect them to play clear and vibrant. But for someone just wanting good, clear sound from a non-amplified, non-customized sound system, these do great.

Pros: Great design appearance. Universal mount hole options for many applications.

Cons: Not built for amplified power.

2003 Chevrolet S10
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First and foremost this speaker said it would not fit in my 2003 Chevrolet S10 with RDS..... After measuring I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did, by drilling a couple of easy holes, and using the grill screws for line up, they were able to fit right in. Everything looks just like it did before the install and they sound great. So much better than the stock speakers, not even funny.

Pros: Good sounding speakers.

Cons: Fit rating wrong on the website.... at least for simple modification installs.

These speakers sound great and were an easy install into my 1983 BMW 320. The
hardest part was fixing the work from the previous speaker installation which
was done by a well-known national car audio company. After seeing the work of a
so called "professional" car audio installer, I'll be doing my own work from now on.

Very Poor Fit

Written by: Chuck from Blacksburg, VA on August 13, 2010

1989 Pontiac Bonneville
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers have 4 tabs with a hole in each for mounting, as pictured. When you receive the speakers they also have a bracket that fits over the speakers with multiple holes to fit many brands of cars (not pictured).

The multi-car bracket that fits over the speaker has a set of holes that lined up perfectly with my 1989 Pontiac Bonneville. However, the piece of metal that makes the outer edge of the hole in the tab on the speaker itself O) <---- Covers up the perfect-fit hole exactly. I had to cut the speaker tabs off with a hacksaw to get them to fit correctly.

On top of that, these replacement speakers are about 3/8" taller than the stock speakers were, so they wouldn't just sit correctly in the hole. They rested on the AC duct under the dash in the perfectly-centered position and wouldn't lay flat, so now I have a pair of butchered, off-center speakers in the front dash of my car.

The only thing keeping me from giving this review 1 star is that the speakers sound good, but all my buddies at the mill I work at told me, "Go Crutchfield! They have painless installation and everything just fits perfect all the time." So I expected the Crutchfield brand speakers to fit. And they didn't. Not even close.

For the price, these speakers rock the socks. We'll see how they hold up to the test of time, but so far they are amazing. Fit perfect, on a 77' Bimmer...rare. And they also work amazing with the old wiring. Need to go get some grills for them, but that can be done later! again, i recommend this product to highest right, there solid and built like a tank.
