Q
Interested in building a box and using these for home audio. Would they sound good? Also I know a lot of home audio has an impedance of 8ohms does anyone know th impedance on these speakers?

I Would seriously not recommend these speakers for building a home theatre box. The tweeters are very tinny sounding and don't expect the miss to handle much bass. I have them installed in my truck. After 3 months, I blew one set. Replaced them and blew them out again. My stereo only pushes 50 watts per speaker. Look for infinity or Polk. A little more expensive, but you'll be much happier with the final result.

Q
Can I install the tweeters directly to my '03 Honda CRV EX's factory dash location? Also, anyone have experience with these speakers/car combo that can give me an opinion as to wether the factory head unit is enough to drive these?

between the included mounts and the factory ones, there should be no problem fitting them in. on a 2014 escape, I used factory mounts for the tweeters. just had to pull the factory tweeters out of the housing that attached to the vehicle and hole it out a bit. these come with a mesh front, so I cut that out of the factory mounts and pushed them in from behind. if you are keeping the factory head unit, you really need a line out controller out at last an equalizer. the car comes preset to be pushing sound out to the speakers it comes with. it won't really be tuned in to the output of aftermarket speakers. I installed the rear doors with the factory system, and they sounded like garbage. I was keeping the factory head unit, but replacing component speakers in all 4 doors and adding 2 subs and amps. I had a LOC, but hadn't changed the wiring out to route through it or the subs. all together, amazing sound. just wired in, much worse than the factory speakers

Have two pairs in my 05. Sounds great with amp. Crappy without. Pit my tweeters on sail panel on door

Q
My '01 VW Jetta has a Bose system with separate woofers and tweeters in each door. I don;t want to rewire, or try to stuff the large crossover somewhere inside the door and risk crushing it with the window mechanism. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use the existing woofer / tweeter wiring and ignore the supplied crossover (since the Bose obviously has already split the audio)? Thanks, ---Steve V

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't personally count on the Bose crossover to work properly in connection with the new speakers. They could be tuned very differently. I had the luxury of having a little map pocket on the inside of my door and installed my crossover there and drilled the wires through the door panel. You could also mount them inside the car somewhere and run the wires to the doors. I agree inside the door is no place for them. Hope it goes well.

Im a mercedes tech and i installed these speakers in my 99 Mercedes ML with the factory bose system. The factory bose system in my ML has single speakers at the doors.I used the crossover with the speakers.Newer bose systems used a built in crossover on the tweeters to limit the low frequency to the tweeters. The line from the amp is shared and spliced together near the speakers. The amp does not use a crossover. I am not familar with the VW system but i would imagine the bose side of it is the same. I installed my sony headunit with these speakers at all four corners running the factory bose amp and factory bose sub and it has incredible sound. See if you can find the factory VW wiring diagram for the speakers. If your tweeters and woofers are wired seperatly to the amp you might beable to not run the crossover.

I had similar concerns about the crossover addition as well. While I am not familiar with the frequency that is sent to the speakers in your Jetta, I will tell you that the crossover is for both the tweeter and woofer on the P-65C speakers. Th sound quality is superb as well. I installed these speakers with a complete rewire in a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Pick Up that my son drives and they sound great! The wiring was a bit of a pain in the A** but it was well worth it. We also installed a receiver and amp as well. I suggest you try to install on the old wiring if you are not planning a total upgrade and see if the sound is clean. if so, throw the crossovers away! Good luck!

These just arrived but I can't figure out how to get the grill off? LOL. Is it just the mesh part itself that comes off or do the two halves of the grill ring come apart some how? I don't want to apply too much pressure.

I did not use the grills the speakers come witg. However most speaker grills pull out of the mounting ring easily. They are usually only held in by tension bends in the grill or a sticky blaxk putty glue that will pull apart and then stick back together again. Hope this helps. Great sounding speakers.
malcolm  Nov 21, 2014
A
I know it probably seems like you're going to break it, but the grill should just pull right off. Hope you enjoy, they are phenomenal speakers

Do the speakers come with a grill/cover to protect the speaker?

Yes they do. However they do not work with the scosche sa-69 mounting adapter. The grilles hit the tweeter.

Yes, they do come with grill/covers. I never used mine as I was replacing some factory speakers in my truck and used the factory cover that came with my vehicle. The speakers sound great and are a big improvement over the paper cone factory speakers. My new Alpine radio didn't hurt either.

Q
my question is about the tweeters, i want to install them in my 05 corolla, but i am having trouble finding any pictures of the back, or mounting area of the tweeter itself. so i have no idea what kind of bracket to make. can anyone help by uploading photos of the back of the tweeter? or explaining how they attached a bracket.

I installed them in a suburban with a factory space for a separate tweeter so it was a different application. I had to do some cutting on the factory plastic mounting location inside the door panel with a dremel tool to get them to fit. They did come with hardware for surface mounting on a door panel or dash though so that would be an option for you. Hope that helps. I have been happy with the sound. I've pushed them pretty hard and they've held up. Although I do block the low end from them with an active crossover so I'm sure that helps in that regard.
jehromy  May 08, 2014
A
So this speakers come with a mounting bracket so that you don't have to make one. I took the door panel off the truck and used a hole saw to cut the hole where I wanted the tweeters. You slide the tweeter into the mounting bracket while the door panel is off, then use the plastic nut they provide and screw it on. The tweeter was the easiest part to install out of the speaker system.

Tyler, I put mine in a 91 Mazda. The tweeters line up in a specific place and snap together. I used GOOP a marine adhesive and a self taping screw to put mine on the bottom of the dash next to the console. Hope this helps. Clark in TN

What should the crossover switch be set at? 0 or 3db? I'm also running a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered subwoofer.
kevin c  Mar 29, 2014

yes do not give them too much power because the tweeters blow very easily

depends on what you are looking for... I am running my P-65C's off of alpine's "peanut" 4 channel amp and they sound great.

I run my Sony ES XM-7547. It is 75 watt X4 at 4 ohms. Running a sub I kept these speakers from getting low frequency and I never found max volumn. They are very loud and very clear.

Have a Nissan pathfinder with bose system I use factory amp
david  Feb 02, 2014

They are definitely an upgrade from the stock speakers. However you will really hear the crisp highs with an external amp. The head unit doesn't have the frequency range to make components shine.
