Win the battle for great sound. Sound Ordnance component speakers invade your car's listening space with clear sonic reproduction that'll mobilize your music. You'll enjoy the new life these rugged speakers bring to your system, all at a budget-friendly price.

The P-65C 6-1/2" component system sports tough polypropylene woofers that can handle just about any musical onslaught. Mount the separate 3/4" silk dome tweeters in a strategic spot, and they'll deploy all the musical details — you'll enjoy improved definition without harshness. Outboard crossovers direct the frequencies to the speakers for a balanced sonic attack. The black powder-finished stamped steel frames and handsome grilles tell you that these Sound Ordnance components mean business, while a 3-year warranty gives you peace of mind for the long haul.

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

pretty darn good

Written By QD, Downingtown on Sunday, November 09, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a pretty nice set. I have mine powered by a SO 2-channel amp using the high pass filter. Had to work with the tweeters a bit so they would fit in the factory opening but Crutchfield warned me that it was a modified fit. I also have the rear door speakers (which are also SO) powered by the same amp and everything sounds great. I've put a lot if systems together over the years and the So set-up is just as good as most that I've come across. Even some of the pricy set-ups .

Pros: Good price for excellent sound

Cons: One of the crossovers was faulty but Crutchfield excellent customer service made it painless. Replacing it the next day at no cost

Don't believe the hype.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers seem to get a lot of positive reviews. In my opinion they are just ok. Barely. Bass is almost non existent and the mid range levels are not as good as my stock speakers were. The highs are crisp though. The crossovers are huge but I knew this before I purchased because of consumer reviews. Installed in my 05 Tahoe. They do sound a little better than the stock speakers but not as much as I thought they would.

Pros: Crisp highs.

Cons: Bass is almost none existent and mid range levels are poor. Loose a lot of musical detail compared to other speakers. Huge crossover.

Carolla has bounce now

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 04 Carolla that I was looking to upgrade the sound of. I told the Crutchfield advisor what I was looking for and they suggested the Sound Ordnance P65c and the P69's. I was a little apprehensive because of the price, I thought they would not sound as good as what I was looking for. Since Crutchfield has such a good reputation for customer satisfaction , I thought I will give them a try and if I was not happy would send them back and get something else. I received the speakers in 3 days, pretty impressive, With the information Crutchfield sent on how to remove panels and trim on car to install the speakers combined with the free wiring harnesses it only took me about 3 hrs to install both sets of speakers. Then for the moment of truth, all I can say is WOW!! what a difference. Even with a stock head unit these speakers sounded great. I was worried about the bass, however at half volume they will render review mirrors completely useless because they are shaking too much to use. They are not like a sub by any means but that's not the sound I was looking for. I just wanted a great sounding radio that I could crank up and rock a little when a favorite came on, I have had them in the car for over 3 months now and they have performed perfectly, As good as they sound now I think they will sound even better after I get a new head-unit that will push them to what they can really do. I have really been impressed with Sound Ordnance, what a great deal!!

Pros: Great sound at a great price. Easy to install.

Cons: The crossovers are a little on the large side, you have to pay close attention to where you put them. However, if they fit in my Carolla they should fit in anything.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front doors of my 87 VW Syncro camper. I had to modify the front panels but that was expected and I had ordered custom ones just for this. I kept my existing JVC deck since it has satellite and no amp. Speakers sound amazing, the bass rattles the front doors but the highs are high and lows are low . Crossovers are a little big but found mounting spots in the doors for both.

Pros: Price Sound Quality

Cons: Crossovers are large

2011 Jeep Wrangler 2 dr

Written By Bob K, PA on Thursday, July 24, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these Sound Ordnance P-65C speakers in the front dash and rear sound bar of my 2011 Jeep Wrangler 2 door. Install was time consuming but I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I used the speaker brackets provided by Crutchfield to mount the front woofers. Plugable wiring also used there and both worked great. Tweeters mounted perfectly in stock pods at top of dash using the "surface mount" collar provided with the speakers. For the rear sound bar, I did not use the Crutchfield supplied bracket because the speaker and frame fit perfectly into the grille in the sound bar. I used a hole saw to flush mount the tweeters in sound bar giving a nice clean look. Crossovers fit easily up in the sound bar too. I stuffed the sound bar (and the front speaker enclosures) with stuffing from the sewing section of Walmart helping tighten up the bass a bit. Each time I completed a speaker I compared the sound (stock speaker to new) using the balance and fader to switch back and forth. Huge improvement! Stock speakers have ok bass but are otherwise very muddy. Sound Ordnance sound very clean with surprisingly good bass. And this is with the stock head unit and it's internal amp which is pretty much crap. With an aftermarket amp, I bet these new speakers would have awesome punch but I don't have the energy to install an amp right now. Overall, at around $100 pair these speakers are a compete steal! Buy them, you will not regret it.

Pros: Great sound and quality worth at least twice the price paid Very complete kit (includes hook up wires, hardware etc.) Crossover very easy to wire

Cons: Goofy product name and cheesy logo (but thankfully covered up behind stock grills) Crossover is rather large but not hard to find space in 2011 Jeep Wrangler Should have done this upgrade to my Jeep earlier!

HUGE Crossover

Written By Regreted, Los Angeles, CA on Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound quality should be okay. But can't truely test them because one of the crossovers got crushed by one of the window glasses while lowered to the bottom right after installation because these crossovers are HUGE. I have already trying my best installed them to the very bottom of the door but the tops still touches the bottom of the window glasses. Now only using them w/o any crossovers.. Yark... Not to mention the claimed OEM brackets doesn't fit neither subwoofers nor would line up with the mounting holes in the car. Should have saved money for something that at least will work. Credit gives to Crutchfield that offers return with restocking fee (for damaged parts). Didn't do it because had already modified "OEM mounting brackets" and drilled a hole on top of the each speaker for mounting to the "OEM bracket" and the the car.. :(

Pros: subwoofers and tweeters

Cons: HUGE crossovers that I can't find a good place to install them before they were broken by lowering the door glass... :P

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these to replace blown door woofers in a 2003 Mitsubishi Diamante. The straight bass speaker was a perfect replacement. The wire connectors that Crutchfield included for free made this installation plug and play (Thanks Crutchfield!). The speakers are well made and sound good (a 1000% improvement over the buzzing blown speakers). So, if you're looking for bass only replacement speakers, these are a great choice. Crutchfield's shipping was also very fast.

Pros: Perfect bass-only replacement speakers. The free wire adapters were a really nice bonus.

Cons: The free brackets Crutchfield sent dis not fit this application, but that was not a show stopper as the speakers could be mounted without them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price, and considering the are not top open the line, I guess they are ok.

Pros: At low levels they sound good. Tweeters sound good until you turn it up.

Cons: Not much bass. My new head unit puts out 50 w. I can't even turn it up to half and they start cutting out and sounding like crap. I've tried several adjustments, with a backing behind them, without the backing. I am going to try an amp and see what happens.

Installed on 98 Subaru Outback Sport

Written By Robert, Southbury, CT on Thursday, July 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound!!! Awesome speakers. The generic installation instructions don't apply to 98 Subaru Outback Sport. The crossovers will have to be mounted in between the door card and rear of the door frame with a 4.25 inch flexible steel roll and 1 inch bolt and nut. After that. Rock On!! Great bass and highs. This is the second set I have installed. First set was installed on a 95 Subaru Legacy 2 years ago and it still sounds great!!!

Pros: Deep bass and midrange sound from the woofers and clean highs from the tweeters. And great price.

Cons: None.

Cons: Power handling is good but not great. Still, $60 for separates is awesome.

Great value for components or coaxial replacements

Written By David L, CA Central Valley on Wednesday, June 25, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these to replace the stock components in the front door of my 05 WRX. Installation was pretty easy. Crutchfield gives you speaker adapters but they don't fit the speaker or the opening, so I made my own wood ones, pretty easy. Mounting the tweeter was tricky, since I put it in the stock location. But it comes with a variety of little pods to mount the tweeter and I got it to work great in the stock location. As for sound, they sound fantastic. The bass out of the woofers is so much better than stock, and the tweeters don't sound tinny at all, sound nice and clear. They take power really well and don't break up with the amp I have them on. Crossovers are a bit large to some others I've seen, but easily mounted.

Pros: Excellent value, not too deep but still a big magnet, great tweeter, easy mounting options

Cons: Crossovers are big, which is only a problem if you can't find room. The adapter Crutchfield sent didn't fit the speakers themselves, or the door opening, which isn't really the fault of the speakers, and may not be a problem in other cars at all.

Bought these to go with my Alpine CDE-SXM145BT and KTP-445A Power Pack and love them. Nice Clear sound for a good price. Worked great for music and audio books.

Pros: Great sound.

Cons: Crossovers are a bit large.

Great product! Sounds as good as the price!!

Written By NMANZ, Janesville, WI on Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these just to replace out my worn out, old speakers with very little expectations. Installation is fairly straight forward and the speakers feel quality right out of the box. I have only an old Pioneer CD receiver, which puts out maybe 12-15 watts RMS, powering these guys and they impress. They are loud enough to be mistaken for a high end factory system with considerable bass. They actually make my rear deck shake and buzz on some notes. As for the overall sound, I'm just as impressed. The silk tweeters are very clear and never sound harsh. If you have any doubt about purchasing, worrying about installing and being dissatisfied, don't. This is a good purchase and the price can not be beat. Oh, and they've been getting two hours of use every day for the last year with no issues whatsoever.

Pros: Good sound quality, definitely price, good bass without amplifying.

Cons: Tricky installation plate.

Very easy to install. I had them in my 2000 GMC Yukon XL in less than 15 minutes per door!

Pros: Sound great just with my head unit! Sound even better with a 4 channel JL Amp with 150 RMS going to each component, even though they say to only run 50 RMS to them!

Cons: Only con is, I wish I had bought another set for the back doors and rear pillars!

Good speacker with great sound. I'm really hear the big difference with my old factory speacker. Thank you Crutchfield for detailed instructions and support (factory's instructions is pretty bad).

Pros: Great clear and powerful sound even without amplifier. All installation's stuff included

Cons: cheap plastic tweeters's case factory wires is not really good and have not enough length for installation if you have no space to place crossovers just next to the speakers.

Great Sound, Great Price...Great Value.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave these a 5 star rating because of how they sound vs their cost. They dont perform at a level that my Rockford T2 components but that is understandable as they only cost a fraction of the T2s. They were price at the level of some Road Masters or low level Jensens...to which they are far out perform. I have only run them from my 22 watt (RMS) JVC head unit and they sound great at mid volume. The head unit dont have the muscle to push them cleanly so I may dust off an old Crutchfield (4x50) and get another pair for the rear. I was only looking to replace a blown speaker but now I'm building a system. In summary...these budget components out perform their pricepoint and deserves 5 stars!

Pros: Awesome sound from a low price!

Cons: No real cons...for the price. I'd suggest amplification if you want clean sound at higher volumes.

Awesome sound, huge crossover, turn the treble down!

Written By Ryan, 29485 on Tuesday, May 06, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Excellent component set for the price! I bought then while they were on sale...I couldn't pass that up lol. The install took about 6 hours for me since I've never taken my front door panels off before and had to figure that out. Well worth the time. The first time I listened to them, I was shocked. The sound was extremely top heavy. Even with the crossover set to -3dB, it was not enough to balance the sound. I had to turn down the treble a lotttt to get it to sound good. But once that was fixed, they sound just great! Could definitely use some more bass from the mid drivers (may be because it's unamped), but that's what the sub in the trunk is for so no complaints here ;P

If I had the choice of purchasing anything from Sound Ordnance again, without a doubt the answer would be yes.

Thanks!!

Pros: - Great Sound - Quality Build

Cons: - Bulky Crossover - No "Real" Instructions - Treble set far too high - Not much bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers in comparison to the old factory ones. I connected theses to a Sony stereo without the an amp and without the crossovers connected; the improvement was unbelievable. Now I have the amp and crossovers wired in as well; it's great!

Pros: Good sound, nice looking speakers.

Cons: No brackets for the tweeters, but you can easily make some that work. I put them in an '06 Xterra and used the factory tweeter holders...worked perfectly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They might sound good, but never got them in my Chevy Colorado. HORRIBLE instructions - and I have installed many speakers and decks through the years. Never understood how to retrofit the new tweeters where the old ones were without goobering it up and not having them stable in alloted space. The other mid range speakers also didn't fit well even with the adapters and the crossovers ( OMG the crossovers! ) where in the world to you put those monsters within the door panel? So, overall, for my application, a very poor fit. Again, the sound of the speakers might be fantastic - just never got that far.

Pros: They look pretty.

Cons: Instructions - are you kidding me? Poor fit for my application.

I replaced my stock speakers in my 2011 RAV4. Using the stock radio the quality of sound jumped amazingly. The audio difference when playing Pink Floyd and Santana was well worth the time to install them. The separation of sound between left and right jumped to unexpected levels. Pros: Quality of sound. Easy to install

Pros: Great sound without needing an amp from my aftermarket receiver. Good supplied tweeter hardware.

Cons: Need more descriptive installation instructions. Still had to drill spots in supplied woofer brackets for fit.

Good for the money.

These speakers sound great, big upgrade from factory stuff. Went with these because I wanted a little more clarity then the old factory speakers. Very easy to install with the supplied mounting brackets. The tweeters were a different story. I had to disassemble the factory tweeters and re-drill the brackets that they were installed in. The crossovers were not necessary in my application.

Pros: Sounds great

Cons: install of the tweeters

Interesting - 2005 Corolla LE

Written By Jason, Edmonton, AB on Monday, June 17, 2013

Initial Impressions: Cheap looking, but nothing decidedly bad. Didn't like the looks of the small foam surrounds. Thanks for the FAST shipping!

Support: Crutchfield support is great, and has good hours. What is there more to say.

Install: I was provided GREAT instructions, and wire harnesses was nice, but the brackets did not fit properly with the speakers. There was no where for the screws to hit. I ended up cutting out the stock speakers, and using the stock speaker housing as the brackets (Soldering gun to cut out the stock speakers from plastic). It was not elegant, and a bit tricky, but worked.

Results: Nice clean sound. I never realized how bad my front speakers were. The stocks were choking out my rear 6x9 Alpine S speakers. Base is serviceable, but a slight reduction from stock. Tweeters are amazing, but annoying to mount in stock location. They look up to my Alpine type S 6x9s, but play in the same park.

Special Notes: Some have mentioned that the tweeters are a bit too bright. Well on mine there was a switch to lower the output to the tweeters by 3dB. That is for when they are mounted higher or pointed closer to ear level. Much better.

Don't think twice. Act Now!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As anyone buying car audio compentents at a decent price would assume, quality would not copete with the price. However, in this case, assumptions were iincorrect. At 33, I did not want something that would be screaming in my ears driving down the road I wanted something that would bring my music to life. Installation was of moderate difficulty. The supplied speaker adaptors required modification, and the supplied angle mount tweeter brackets were finicky to connect. Aside form those minor complaints, these speakers were WELL WORTH THE EFFORT. I purchased two sets to replace the stock speakers in my 2013 Outlander Sport. The factory head unit runs at 17W RMS and 35W Peak, and it has no problem pushing these speakers. I set the front crossovers to -3db to get rid of some of the tinniness, and left the back at 0db to fill the cabin with highs. These speakers are coupled with a 50W 8" Bazooka tube, also purchased through Crutchfield. Let me say, the Crutchfield flagships do not disappoint!!!! Give 'em a try, you won't be disappointed. These speakers added epth and definition to my music that wasn't there before.

Pros: Excelent price, excellent sound, good depth, versatile mountin options

Cons: tweeter mounts can be difficult to connect, speaker brackets require modification

Installed in my wifes 2005 Toyota Corolla front doors. Barely fit the mids in the adaptor for the front door, but they did fit. Had to trim the sail panel for the tweeters, but they fit and looked good. Great mid and highs. Not as much bass as I was hoping for in a 6 1/2. Oh well. I am running it off a Pioneer head unit.

Pros: price, fit, mids and highs sound great

Cons: almost too big for my corolla, but made it work. not a lot of bass output, have the HPF at 200hz to minimize distortion.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, don't expect these to sound like subs. That said, I got two pairs of these speakers for $84 right after Black Friday and I installed these in my B5.5 Passat and they're not bad using the stock head unit. They're not going to give you the greatest bass in a larger car but they're still okay considering my motor is really loud and I tend to drive with my window cracked. They'd be great for smaller cars, but in a car with more air space get some subs to help them along. I have the components set up for mids and highs with dual 12" Kenwoods for bass (2 Ohms, 600Wrms) and a Kenwood head unit.

Lastly, the speaker brackets suck and it took forever to install but finally got it done. Crutchfield support is awesome, as usual.

Pros: Great sound, Durable build, Sound much better with a head unit and/or subs, Certain songs bump hard either way.

Cons: Don't work great with the speaker mounts but not impossible, Not the greatest bass I've heard out of components.

I purchased these as a replacement for the worn out factory speakers in my sons 2000 Nissan Frontier. The supplied speaker adapter plates did not fit the speakers, and did not align to the factory mounts. Easy fix, I re-drilled the factory mounts to accept the new speakers. I mounted the tweeters in the factory door location with some modification using one of the supplied mounting options. Since there is limited space in the doors, I opted to install the crossovers in the dash under the new head unit - so far so good. During the operational check, I found out that one of the crossovers had no output to the tweeter. After removing one of the door panels (again) to re-check connections and swapping the crossovers left to right my suspicion the crossover was bad was confirmed. Luckily I had some capacitors on hand I wired in place of the crossovers but not without modifying my original wiring set up (cut, re-solder, re-heat shrink...you get the idea). The bad crossover caused me about an hour re-work, but the end result turned out ok. I would have rated these higher if it were not for the defective crossover.

Pros: Good sound for the money

Cons: Bad crossover right out of the box, non-standard 6.5" speaker size, supplied adapter plates incorrect

I was impressesed with the set up. I already owned the p-69 6x9's so the sound matched perfectly. You don't even need an amp to get high quality sound out of them. I recently purchased a Blaukpunt Toronto 420 BT deck to replace my old JVC, and they sound even better!! If your deck has the "loud" feature, you can turn it on for better sound, these speakers can definitely handle it. Plus, Crutchfield is awesome! Best customer service anywhere! They send you everything you need to install them. I would recommend to all!

Pros: High quality sound for the price, easy to install, doesn't require an amp.

Cons: Tweeter flush mount cracked during install, but crutchfield did replace for free!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this kit, recommended by the site, to replace the front door speakers in my Toyota sequoia 2003, with the jbl system. I only needed the woofers, I didn't need the crossovers or the tweeters, but didn't have much choice. The speakers sound ok, nowhere near as much bass as the old speakers, I find I have to crank up the bass on the amp more to get the same effect in the front, which gives out too much bass in the rear doors now. The speakers sound clear, I was expecting a better result considering the worn speaker was 10 years old, had gotten damp and ripped? Either the recommendation on the site was wrong, or I was supposed to replace everything including the crossovers, which seemed pointless, all I needed was a new woofer. Glad I bought the jeep adapter plates, still had to figure out some brackets to mount everything, but that went quick.

Pros: Probably good speakers, the sound is crisp and clear

Cons: As mentioned, disappointed with the bass response on most of the music I listen to.

I was optomistic when I ordered these speakers. I made custom door panels to mount them. I bought 2 sets of these. They came with a bunch of different mounts for the tweeters but I chose to use the flush mount. These sound great. I have a Kenwood 60 watt x 4 head unit and can't turn it up past half way. They are pretty loud with no distortion. The tweeters sound great. Not as bright as everyone else says. I decided to use the 0db setting. The woofers actually have a good bit of bass to them. I plan to use them for my highs and mid range speakers as i am waiting on 2 10" pyles and a 1400 watt amp to go behind my rear seat of my crew cab silverado.

These speakers work well so far, i don't have my amp or receiver hooked up yet so i can't really tell too much of a difference. I can tell that the sound is more clear coming out of them, the crossover made a big difference. My stock speakers had the same signal going to the woofer and the tweeter, so that is probably why is sounds better. that is why i only gave it 4 stars. I don't know the full potential yet.

These are far better than the stock speakers in my old Sienna's "Premium" package but the tweeters are so bright it's hard to turn the volume up without hurting my ears even with the treble turned all the way down. The bass is very weak. Adding an amp (Alpine powerpack) helped the bass. Adding a small sub (Sound ordinance PT8, very nice by the way) helped too but they're still too bright. I wish I would have spent an extra $50-$100 on a set of brand name component speakers.

They are made to look a lot more beefy in the pics, than in person. The first problem i had was they are smaller than my factory 6.5 holes in my front doors, so i had to fabricate the door to make them fit. Once installed and wired up to an mtx amp putting out 50 watts a channel i was even more dissappointed, my 5.25 jl woofer outperforms these 6.5's in every aspect, and r nearly the same size. The tweeters were placed on the dash at first but i couldnt even sit in the car they were so bright and harsh, so i ended up putting them down in the kickpanels, which helped to an extent, but still with them set at -3 they were still harsh. Oh yeah i read someone else say they had problems with looose speaker terminals, well so did I , both woofer terminals snapped off and dangle which causes a nice rattle. After being unable to tweak these to make them tolerable i ended up taking out the woofer alll together, and replacing it with my 15 year old jl audio vr 5.25 woofer and changed out the croosover units as well, and wow what a difference that made. With the tweeter on the jl crossover they lost there bright, harsh sound and paird with the jl woofer they make a good pair. Just wish when i spent my money on these i could of actually used the woofer and crossover, but instead i ended up paying this much for a set of tweeters, cause thats all i use from the set /

i have to say that i am really surprised that these speakers are very nice. they sound very accurate and clear. i got components so for my specific vehicle the tweeters are a bit bright. however the crossovers have a -3db setting which is nice but -6db for my car would be better. i am really happy that the sound is so realistic, if you are listening to high quality cd's it sounds very much like you are really there. but being 6.5" there is no low-end which is just the compromise that you have to make. crutchfield put there name with this brand and i knew that i would not be disappointed, i will recommend to all of my friends.

A very wise purchase.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My plan is to slowly upgrade my factory stereo in my 2005 Element as cash-flow permits
but I do demand top quality components. First step is replacing the 7 junk paper cone
factory speakers. I installed these in the factory locations including replacing the cheesy
Honda tweeters in the A-pillars with the ones in this set and since the factory stereo I'll be
using for a few more months actually has a dedicated output for the tweeters I decided I
would install these the same way and did not use the supplied crossover. What a
substantial improvement over the old speakers, I also replaced the rear door speakers
with Sound Ordnance P-65's (built in tweeter) and replaced the stock sub-woofer with a
6"Dual voice coil Bazooka. The system sounds so much clearer and has much more
depth, I'm very pleased with these speakers and when I add a better head unit & amp
down the road I will then add the crossover and believe they will sound even better.
Thanks again Crutchfield!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was surprised a component system could have this low price. I assumed, if it was a Crutchfield component offering, the components would be above average, even if the price was low. But after i installed and listened I say the crossover and tweeter are only average (or less), and the woofer is definitely below average.

I have a 1998 Sienna. The stock woofer was about 0.5" more diameter and weighed about 25% more. The stock woofer also did a better job since it was average. Crutchfield support was very good and they told me how to wire it so I could use my old woofer. They said to run the receiver speaker output to both the woofers and the crossover (in parallel). So only the tweeter is fed by the crossover. That was the safest way since probably my stock woofer characteristics are not matched to the crossover design. It does sound better without the Sound Ordinance woofer.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers were bought to replace factory speakers in a friend's Subaru Outback. There was way too much work involved due to the Subaru speaker mounts and the lack of room inside the door.

Upon opening the box, the first thing I noticed were the crossovers. They're huge and open on all four sides (the guts are fully exposed). I'm thinking that if the door ever gets water inside it, these crossovers are history.

The speakers themselves looked pretty nice, however, when we attached the speaker wires to the speakers, both speaker's wire clips came loose from the speaker body. This is a design and fabrication flaw within the speakers. They don't use a rivit, they punch a square through the wire clip mount, and push the square through a hole on the actual speaker frame. This square gets bent back to hold the clip in place. It doesn't hole it in place well, obviously. ONce hooked up and installed (3-4 hours with all the necessary changes required), they sounded OKAY....Not Great, not bad, just okay. Next installation I do, for a friend or myself, I'll stick with Infinity Reference or Polks. These pale in comparison, structurally and performance-wise. I'd neither use them again, nor recommend them.

Incredible sound and value!

Written by Jude, Director, Digital Imaging, on 5/30/2014 9:46:00 AM

My son just purchased a newer car, a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and the sound system it came with was, well, awful. We sat down together and planned a system and since he was on a budget we decided we would go with our house brand Sound Ordnance for most of it, and we are not disappointed.

We installed the P65-C in the rear deck using the SA69 6X9 adapter. We then installed the P-40 in the front doors with fabricated brackets we made from the 12x12 sheet of ABS #1208900903 and then used the Dynamat #15410415 to seal it all up and add sound deadening to the doors.

We chose the JVC KD-R950BT for the Bluetooth and the generous power the internal amplifier has, plus the abundant color choices made it easy to match the red backlighting in the Pontiac. We needed bass so we used the Sound Ordnance B-24 and the Rockford Fosgate #575P500X1B we had from his previous vehicle and connected it using the EFX 8 gauge wiring kit #142PA8.

We spent a Sunday working on this project and have to say it exceeded my expectations on sound. It sounds clear, the bass hits as hard as you want and the total price was well within his budget. This is a great system and it was also a great day spent with my son.

I did not use the grills the speakers come witg. However most speaker grills pull out of the mounting ring easily. They are usually only held in by tension bends in the grill or a sticky blaxk putty glue that will pull apart and then stick back together again. Hope this helps. Great sounding speakers. [ MALCOLM  Nov 21, 2014 ]
I know it probably seems like you're going to break it, but the grill should just pull right off. Hope you enjoy, they are phenomenal speakers [ JOSHUA W  Nov 21, 2014 ]
Yes they do. However they do not work with the scosche sa-69 mounting adapter. The grilles hit the tweeter. [ WARRICK  May 12, 2014 ]
Yes, they do come with grill/covers. I never used mine as I was replacing some factory speakers in my truck and used the factory cover that came with my vehicle. The speakers sound great and are a big improvement over the paper cone factory speakers. My new Alpine radio didn't hurt either. [ WILLIAM  May 10, 2014 ]
I installed them in a suburban with a factory space for a separate tweeter so it was a different application. I had to do some cutting on the factory plastic mounting location inside the door panel with a dremel tool to get them to fit. They did come with hardware for surface mounting on a door panel or dash though so that would be an option for you. Hope that helps. I have been happy with the sound. I've pushed them pretty hard and they've held up. Although I do block the low end from them with an active crossover so I'm sure that helps in that regard. [ JEHROMY  May 08, 2014 ]
So this speakers come with a mounting bracket so that you don't have to make one. I took the door panel off the truck and used a hole saw to cut the hole where I wanted the tweeters. You slide the tweeter into the mounting bracket while the door panel is off, then use the plastic nut they provide and screw it on. The tweeter was the easiest part to install out of the speaker system. [ JOSHUA  May 07, 2014 ]
Tyler, I put mine in a 91 Mazda. The tweeters line up in a specific place and snap together. I used GOOP a marine adhesive and a self taping screw to put mine on the bottom of the dash next to the console. Hope this helps. Clark in TN [ Clark  May 06, 2014 ]
My 06 KIA Spectra 5 had a cut out for tweeters inside the door. I just hot glued them in place. no pics though--sorry. [ DOUGLAS D.  May 06, 2014 ]
What should the crossover switch be set at? 0 or 3db? I'm also running a Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered subwoofer. [ Kevin C  Mar 29, 2014 ]
yes do not give them too much power because the tweeters blow very easily [ CURTIS  Feb 03, 2014 ]
depends on what you are looking for... I am running my P-65C's off of alpine's "peanut" 4 channel amp and they sound great. [ ALEJANDRO  Feb 03, 2014 ]
I run my Sony ES XM-7547. It is 75 watt X4 at 4 ohms. Running a sub I kept these speakers from getting low frequency and I never found max volumn. They are very loud and very clear. [ MALCOLM  Feb 02, 2014 ]
Have a Nissan pathfinder with bose system I use factory amp [ DAVID  Feb 02, 2014 ]
They are definitely an upgrade from the stock speakers. However you will really hear the crisp highs with an external amp. The head unit doesn't have the frequency range to make components shine. [ JACOB  Feb 01, 2014 ]
