Customer Q&A

14 questions already asked

Q
Do I need to use the included crossover, or can I plug directly into my factory system? Will I pull better sound using the crossover, if only replacing factory speakers? no additional amp, etc. being installed. Thanks!
michael  Aug 20, 2023
1 answer
A
Generally, it is necessary to use the included crossover. This topic can become complicated depending on the nature of your factory audio system. Please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695 for in-depth help with this project.

A
You can check to see if this will fit your vehicle by using our Outfit My Car tool: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. Q
Is the 55rms rating per speaker or for all 4 speakers combined?
jose  Jun 13, 2022
1 answer
A
That's a really great question Jose! This 55 watts RMS rating is essentially per woofer AND tweeter combined, since this is a component set. I hope this helps!

Q
Does the crossover have the capability to adjust the lower frequency from say 50hz to 75hz to reduce the amount of bass going to the woofer? I am wanting to reduce door rattle which occurs from the woofer and the bass notes. Thanks
andrew  Feb 04, 2021
1 answer
A
The crossover does not stop any of the deep bass frequencies from coming to the woofer. We have gear that can as well as other ways to reduce and often stop door rattling. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your setup and get a personal recommendation on a way to reduce that rattling noise

Q
Can I run an extra wire from the passive crossover (woofer output) to an amplifier (Speaker input)? I want to minimize wiring and I do not fully understand the passive crossovers, The idea is to run just one sub from the amp.
wilfredo  May 05, 2020
1 answer
A
It depends on a the unit providing the power. It may need to have both right and left sides balanced, the resistance from the crossover and the amp. I had a Landcruiser that had 7 speakers including the subwoofer. I replaced the factory head unit with a Pioneer and it did not warm with 3 speakers on one side and 4 on the other.
frank  May 05, 2020
Q
What is the impedance or the tweeter? What is the impedance or the woofer? Need to see if these will work without the crossovers and ran directly to the amp which has it's own crossovers function.
bobby  Oct 28, 2019

A
I personally wired mine directly to the amp and had no issues
will  Nov 08, 2019

4 ohms for both. Comes with passive crossovers, so should be even better with the active crossover on your amp.
james  Nov 07, 2019
Q
Is the included crossover passive or powered?
sc4ryb3ar  May 05, 2019

A
They are passive. People debated if SO products were junk or not and they most certainly are not. They were designed in England and use the same speaker MFG as Rockford Fosgate. After 2 years my 2 sets I have in my car are going strong. Hope this helps.
michael  May 07, 2019
A
The crossover is passive. I have had 2 of the crossovers fail. The speakers are great, I replaced the crossover with some EBay ones and the work great

Q
Can these be mounted upside down / overhead? Do I need to run them through an amplifier or can I connect the crossover to my deck directly (it has 17 watts RMS CEA-2006/55 peak x 4 channels)?
stephen  Mar 27, 2018

A
I believe it can be mounted upside down and i didn't have to run an amplifier just the crossover and it has enough juice to bump the bass and treble. To be honest i am excited by to sound performance hope this answer your question tho Thanks
eugene  Mar 30, 2018
A
As far as I know they can be mounted however you wish, but upside down will cause them to fire sound away from the listener, and yes you can hook them up using deck power only, good luck

Yes to all. Up to you how you want to run them and up to you how you want it powered.
roland  Mar 27, 2018
A
As far as mounting them upside down i should be no problem and i would say an amp so u can get the whole performance they were built for if not its kindve a waste of money even if u don't listen to them loud atleast you know you can if u want to
mario  Mar 27, 2018
A
You can mount it upside down but if I was to do such a thing I would want to keep the woofer as close to the tweeter as I could you will have better imaging as far as running deck power it will work but to get the full potential from your speakers a bit of power from a separate amp would be better.Enter

Q
I have the JVC XD-230 in a 2000 Suburban with factory amp non bose system. Will these require an amp?
joshua  Mar 17, 2017
1 answer
A
These are efficient enough to work with the 22 watts RMS x 4 amplifier built-in to your JVC head unit. However, they would ultimately sound better with an external higher wattage amplifier driving them. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
