About the Cambridge Audio Aero 9
A sub for bass lovers
The Aero 9 subwoofer's custom-built 10" driver and 500-watt amplifier allow it to deliver deep, dynamic bass.
High-powered rock concerts, soulful jazz tunes, rumbling action flicks — the Cambridge Audio Aero 9 can handle it all. It delivers true home theater thunder thanks to a 500-watt built in amplifier. Specifically designed to complement the rest of Cambridge Audio's Aero Series speakers, the Aero 9 provides deep, high-accuracy bass, so you can experience the visceral impact of big bass drums and baritone saxophones as if the instruments are being played right in front of you. Such room-filling performance might conjure images of a large, unwieldy subwoofer. But the Aero 9 was built with a more compact footprint than many other subs in its class, allowing it to fit into most living spaces with ease.
Engineered with precision
The Aero 9 uses a custom-designed 10" forward-firing driver for impressive punch and attack. It's paired with a bottom-firing passive radiator that adds some serious mid-bass boost. Aero series cabinets are not only discreet and classic-looking, they're engineered for better performance. Each solidly braced MDF enclosure is computer-designed to help minimize standing waves and prevent unwanted resonance from coloring the sound.

Features
Custom Designed Bass Drivers: The Cambridge Audio Aero 9 powered subwoofer employs a 10" front-firing woofer, plus a 10" down-firing ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) configuration. The Aero 9 powered sub utilizes an ABR instead of typical bass ports to eliminate port air noise at high levels. The drivers of the Aero 9 have been specifically designed to complement the BMR drivers used in the rest of the Cambridge Audio Aero speaker line-up for higher frequencies, so they can concentrate solely on lower frequencies well below the 250Hz crossover the BMR drivers use.500W Digital Amplifier: The Aero 9 powered sub features a high-efficiency 500W Class D amplifier powering a front-firing 10" subwoofer driver and a 10" down-firing ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) for a low bass frequency response of 21Hz to 200Hz.
Premium Constructed Cabinet: The Aero 9 powered sub's cabinet is designed not only to look classic, discreet and stylish, but also is constructed using CAD (Computer Aided Design) techniques and critical bracing to minimize distortion and maximize audio quality. The enclosure is constructed of MDF to help eliminate resonance and distortion.
RCA/LFE Input: The powered sub has gold plated left & right RCA line-level inputs for use with receivers having a subwoofer or stereo preamp output that do not contain their own low-pass crossover. There is also a dedicated LFE input, if your receiver has an LFE output and a built-in low-pass crossover.
Controls: The Cambridge Audio Aero 9 powered subwoofer features individual controls to tailor volume, crossover frequency. and phase adjustment.
- Volume Control: The powered sub has a rear-panel rotary volume control to adjust the volume of the subwoofer relative to the other speakers in the system.
- Crossover Frequency: The powered subwoofer offers a continuously variable low-pass filter, adjustable from 40-200 Hz.
- Phase Adjustment: The subwoofer's phase adjustment allows you to adjust the subwoofer's phase between 0° or 180°. If the bass sounds muddy or unclear, adjusting the phase control can sometimes strengthen the bass performance.
Auto On/Off: The Aero 9 powered sub's Auto On/Off feature will switch the powered subwoofer On and Off automatically by signal detection. The powered sub will enter "standby" mode when there has been signal activity for 30 minutes or more.
Applications: The Aero 9 powered sub is ideally suited to complement Cambridge Audio's Aero series speaker line-up and other brands of speakers, adding deep and rich bass extension to your movies and music soundtracks.
Placement Options: The powered subwoofer can be placed almost anywhere in the room as bass sound is largely non-directional. For best results, place the subwoofer on the same side of the room as your front speakers. Corner placement will increase the powered subwoofer's output.
Mounting Feet: The Cambridge Audio Aero 9 powered subwoofer features four integrated rubber feet and includes four additional rubber feet and four spiked feet for added stability on your hardwood, tile, or carpeted floors. The rubber feet are ideal for hardwood and tile flooring; the additional rubber feet add approximately 0.375" to the height of the powered sub. The spiked feet are great for carpeted flooring and are adjustable in case you have uneven floors. The spiked feet add approximately 1.25" to the height of the powered subwoofer.
