Specifications

Features

Stereo Amplifier: The Cambridge Audio AM10 employs a true 35 watts RMS x 2-channel fully-discrete power amplifier (into 8-ohms). The amplifier can handle impedances between 4 and 8 ohms.

Rugged Chassis Design: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier has been carefully designed with a brushed aluminum front-panel, rigid metal chassis, and internal bracing to prevent resonance and improve sound quality.

Toroidal Transformer: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier utilizes a custom low-flux toroidal transformer for audiophile performance.

Controls

LCD: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier features a front-panel LCD for the display of information, such as the selected input source, volume, and tone/balance level.

Volume Control: The Cambridge Audio AM10 features a front-panel rotary dial to increase or decrease the level (-80 to 0) of the sound from the speakers outputs and headphone output of the unit. You can also use the included remote control to adjust the volume level.

Tone Control: The Cambridge Audio AM10 offers Bass (100Hz) and Treble (10kHz) controls which are adjustable from -10 to +10dB. The unit also allows you to balance the unit's speaker outputs left-to-right (+/-10).

Remote Control: The Cambridge Audio AM10 comes supplied with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the integrated amplifier. The included remote control will also operate playback function of the Cambridge Audio CD10 CD player (779CD10, sold separately).

Connections

5 Rear-Panel Inputs: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier is equipped with 5 rear-panel analog stereo RCA inputs (MP3/Aux, CD, tuner, Phono, BD/DVD). These analog stereo RCA terminals are suited for any line-level source.

Phono Input: This input has a built-in phono stage. Turntables fitted with a moving magnet (MM) or high-output moving coil (MC) cartridge can be used.

Note: Low output moving coil types (<1mV and normally 10-1,000 ohm load impedance) cannot be directly connected.

Front-Panel Input: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier features a front-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input for temporary connection of a portable digital audio player.

Note: Connecting an audio device to the front-panel 3.5mm auxiliary input will override the unit's rear-panel RCA auxiliary input.

Record Output: The integrated amplifier's analog stereo RCA record output lets you connect a tape recorder or CD-burner. The unit's record output is not affected by the volume control or tone adjustments.

Binding Posts: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier is equipped with 4 binding-post speaker terminals to connect a pair of bookshelf or floor-standing loudspeakers. The binding-post terminals will accept bare wire, pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single/dual). The binding post terminals are color-coded (red/black) to distinguish positive and negative.

Headphone Output: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier is equipped with a front-panel 1/4" headphone socket for connection of a set of headphones. The amplifier's speaker outputs are muted when headphones are connected.

Note: Headphones with an impedance of between 32 and 600 ohms are recommended.

Detachable IEC Power Cord: The Cambridge Audio AM10 integrated amplifier includes a detachable 5' IEC power cord.

Q
Can I use this as a seperate addition to my home theater stereo reviever? Use this amp as an expansion for rca essentially. And could I still control the volume through my home theater reviever?

Sorry, can't answer that one; ask one of Crutchfield's geeks! I can tell you the AM10 is a great solo amp. Steve K. Rochester. NY
j stephen  Jan 07, 2018
A
Why would you want to do this? What do you mean by expansion for RCA? I believe the answer is no because you can't connect two incompatible devices. This unit should be dedicated solely to two channel sound.

Q
I am looking to use these with the Elac B6 speakers which are 6 omhs and are suggested to be used with a 30 to 120 watt amp. I can't find any rating for 6 omhs for this amp. Is someone able to provide the output at 6 omhs please?
faryal  Dec 21, 2017

A
Faraz, this is a small amplifier with a pretty solid power supply and will be able to supply around forty watts into a nominal 6 ohm load. What we do not know is how complex a load the Elac speakers provide, only that they are 6 ohm's nominal. ( that means average) I think that the combination will work very well. Just remember this is not a big bruiser of an amp, but is instead very musical and detailed. I like mine!

Q
Can I connect a Bluetooth Transmitter (Taotronics TT-BA09) to output my turntable to a wireless Bluetooth speaker?
eric  Dec 25, 2016
1 answer
A
I would think you could hook it up to the output terminals where you would have the entire output of the amp not only the phono. So you would be able to send whatever comes out of the amp to your bluetooth speakers. Hope this helps.

Q
Does this model have a FM tuner that is built into it, or does a separate AM/FM receiver have to be purchased?
nicholas  Oct 16, 2016

A
There is no fm tuner. This amp was purchased to use only with a turntable
john  Oct 20, 2016
A
No, this unit does not have a built in tuner.
martin  Oct 18, 2016
A
It does not. It was upon being told that all tuners in integrated amplifiers are not digital tuners that I chose this amp/preamp. I have connected a digital tuner to it.

I have played lps through this amplifier. If anything, the sound is even better than with the integrated amplifier I replaced.

I have not used this amplifier to power a turntable, so I can't give a specific answer to this question. However, I would assume that it has an A to D converter that would provide a good output. I am satisfied with this amp in terms of listening to CDs. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I don't know if this is the BEST choice, I haven't compare much but its definitely doing a good job and I am very satisfied with it. only use it for my record player.

I bought this amp specifically for a turntable and I am very pleased with the build quality and the sound. Great price also

Q
Can this AM10 Topaz be connected to a powered subwoofer? How?
doug  Jun 09, 2015
3 answers
A
I think that you'll be able to connect a powered subwoofer that accepts speaker level inputs from your amp even if there is no dedicated subwoofer output on the amp.. You'll need a subwoofer that has provsions tp accept the speaker cable connection from the right and left channels of the speaker output on your amp. The subwoofer will also have to have speaker wire outputs that go to your main speakers. So, the sub goes between your amp and your main speakers. After you make this hookup, adjust the frequency at which the sound crosses over from the sub to the main speakers and the volume level of the sub (often labeled as "gain"). Controls to do this will be on the subwoofer. The AM10 looks really tempting. But my ancient receiver is still going strong and everything sounds terrific especially now that I hooked up a powered subwoofer. If it ever dies I would seriously consider the AM10. Connect the subwoofer's inputs to the left and right speaker outputs on your amp via speaker wire and then connect the sub's outputs to your main speakers.

I would suggest editing Jim Richardson's overview on this product as he states you can easily connect a powered sub-woofer. like the Minx X200. I'm sure it was an oversight, bit it is misleading.
matt  Aug 25, 2016

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Topaz AM10 does not support a connection to a subwoofer. It works best with really nice bookshelf speakers in a medium-sized room. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
