The sound of Cambridge Audio

Until now, you had to make a choice between great sound from relatively large speakers or mini speakers that fail to stir your soul when the music starts. But thanks to Cambridge Audio's Minx Min 11, you can now experience sound that's both powerful and refined, from remarkably small speakers that measure just 3" cubed. Designed for hi-fi sound on a low-fi budget, the Minx Min 11 will instantly fill your living space with a tonal presence that has to be heard to be believed. Whether you're looking to maximize your music or movie experience or add depth to your favorite TV shows and sports events, the Minx Min 11 is waiting to show you what you've been missing.

Note: These great-sounding satellites require a powered subwoofer.

Engineered with passion

Cambridge Audio Minx Min 11 in black and white

Building upon the highly regarded original Minx Min 10, Cambridge Audio engineers carefully designed the Minx Min 11 at their London facility to deliver even more refined sound, including greater bass extension for better sonic matching with a powered sub. The Min 11 rewrites the rulebook of what's possible from miniature speakers thanks to BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) technology. BMR drivers use a flat speaker surface that combines the traditional "pistonic" movement of speaker cones with a "bending-wave" movement to create sound. It's what allows the Minx Min 11 to cover a much wider frequency range than comparably sized speakers. You'll also experience a much broader sound dispersion across your entire room, for the most enveloping sound imaginable. Plus, the compact, acoustically damped cabinet offers extreme rigidity for pure, clean sound no matter how intense your movies get.

Speakers that fit your lifestyle

Naturally, you want your speakers to fit into your home, rather than having to design your living space around your system. That's why the compact Minx Min 11 satellites can be mounted to your wall, placed on stands, or positioned on a tabletop using optional hardware. You can mix and match between colors, or go for the larger Minx Min 21 models in the front of your room with Minx Min 11s in the back.

Why choose bookshelf speakers?

Bookshelf speakers may be small in size, but they can deliver surprisingly big sound. Some ultra-compact models even fit on a desktop. Most are right at home in tight spaces like shelves, so they're usually good choices for your home theater's rear channels. For the best performance, try placing bookshelf speakers on solid speaker stands to help the sound really "open up." If you want full bass impact, add a powered subwoofer and enjoy punchy sound that's as deeply satisfying as that of floor-standing speakers.

application was for a 14 X 32 pool house. Combined with a Sony STR-DH750 home theater receiver and a PSB SubSeries 100 Subwoofer. The biggest requirement was the best sound from the smallest speaker. The Minx 11's (2 pair) have exceeded this requirement. Excellent sound across the high and mid ranges. The separate mounting brackets (an additional purchase, but worth it in my opinion) allow for both a professional looking installation and enable endless positioning options for the speaker.

Pros: sound size and mounting options.

Cons: none

Order these wonderfull small speakers for my Class A motor home. As I was upgrading existing speakers, these were a breeze to install. They are paired with a Harmon Karden Kardon 1510 5.1 reciever and a polk 10" sub. these little speakers sound amazing. You really can't go wrong especially if you have a separate sub.

Pros: Small, light weight, very good highs and mid range

Cons: non so far

better than bose

Written by: oldschoolfunster from visalia ca on May 15, 2015

I've had bose acoustimass for years and figured it was time to "improve" my system. After seeing a demo at my local hi fi distributor, I was wowed that it sounded much clearer and crisper than my bose satellites. After installing them in my living room I was even More in awe! These are the speakers and sound I've been yerning for. The clean notes, crispy highs, and clarity of the instruments will have you re-listening to your Whole music library. I'm a musician, so I can tell you I can really appreciate these speaker for what they are. A rainbow of musical notes. Good luck in find a better satellite speaker. It don't exist.

Pros: Clear and clean sound, specifically the highs. Very compact.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound from such a small enclosure. The only minus is that you can't "pump up the volume" without creating distortion - but this is to be expected. You can however make the sound load enough to fill a large room - just don't blast it.

Pros: Extremely small with excellent sound at low and mid volume levels. Great for installation where space is very limited.

Cons: Cannot accommodate high volume levels.

Big Quality Sound - very small profile/size!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for small speakers to blend into the media area (not a theater room). I also try to ensure I get the best product that fits my needs, so I did research to find my options. Everything I found pointed to these speakers as part of the complete Minx system (speakers and subwoofer).

From the moment you open the box you will be impressed. When a company takes the time to make the packaging commensurate with the product quality, you've got a company that understands what a remarkable Customer experience is all about. Cambridge is that type of company based on what I've purchased, and Crutchfield is the right company to deliver it to you.

The reviews on this you'll find are correct, look for the crossover to be at 150hz for best performance. I have an Denon AVR-1913 and it wanted to use 120, however I found a better performance for the speaker when using 150. Amazing richness of sound and responsiveness from the speaker, worthy of a larger speaker system (but obviously not that over the top price/performance larger system). It is a bit more than other speakers of this size, however it out performs all of them I've tried. I won't say all, I've not had all of them. I used many others, the sample size I believe is significant enough that I don't feel completely subjective in my assessment. With so little review space, I can only offer you this: if you buy them, you won't be sorry.

Pros: Big sound, perfect size, high quality

Cons: None so far, it is better than advertized

Driver Technology

Minx Satellite Speaker: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker provides accuracy, detail, and realism from a compact speaker. Its wide dispersion capabilities make it easy to integrate into any room. The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 is designed to be mated with your choice of Cambridge Audio Minx Subwoofer (779X200B, 779X300B, 779X500B; sold separately).

BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) Technology: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker features a single 2.25" BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) driver. The Cambridge Audio BMR driver utilizes patented 'bending wave' principles normally seen in advanced flat-panel speakers, combined with piston-movement (backwards and forwards) like in a traditional speaker design. This type of design provides the Minx satellite speaker with a much wider frequency response and deeper and more powerful bass frequencies, plus incredibly spacious sound. The BMR driver design also adds value by delivering a much broader sound dispersion across the entire room, avoiding the typical "sweet spot" pitfall, for a more enveloping sound.

Rubber Surround: The 2.25" BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) driver employs a rubber surround for added durability and excursion.

Neodymium Magnets: The BMR driver utilizes ultra-compact push-pull neodymium magnets for greater efficiency.

Frequency Response: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker features a 120Hz to 20,000Hz frequency range.

Power Handling: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker can handle 15 to 50 watts (RMS).

Enclosure Design

Compact Enclosure: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker features a 3.0625" (w) x 3.0625" (h) x 3.75" (d) enclosure.

Acoustic Suspension: The Minx MIN11 satellite speaker features an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure for greater detail and tonal accuracy.

Acoustically Damped Cabinet: The Minx MIN11 satellite speaker employs an acoustically damped thermo-polymer and extruded aluminum cabinet to prevent distortion caused by resonance and vibration.

Removable Grille: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 includes a detachable cloth grille.

High-Gloss Finish: The Minx MIN11 is available in a high-gloss black (with black cloth grille) or high-gloss white finish (with silver cloth grille). The black and white high-gloss lacquers are finished to the highest standard using paint application techniques developed by premium automotive manufactures. The black and white lacquer finishes are hard to scratch and easy to clean.

Binding Posts: The Cambridge Audio Minx MIN11 satellite speaker is equipped with a pair of binding post terminals. The binding post terminals will accept bare-wire, pin-connectors, and spade-connectors. The terminals are color-coded (black/red) to distinguish between positive and negative.

Banana Plugs: The satellite speaker's binding post terminals can be removed to allow use of banana plugs (single only). The binding post terminals simply pull out of the back of the speaker, which allows access to banana connector inputs.

Mounting Options

Table-Top Mount: The Minx MIN11 satellite speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet to simply place the speaker securely on a table or shelf. There is also an optional Minx Table-Top Stand (779MTSA, sold separately) available, which allows placement on a desk, table, or shelf.

Wall Mount: The Minx MIN11 features a rear-mounted 6mm threaded insert which allows you to wall-mount the speaker using the included keyhole-slot adapter, the Cambridge Audio Minx Wall Bracket (779MPWM, sold separately), or other optional wall-mount bracket (sold separately).

Speaker Stand: The 6mm threaded insert on the back of the satellite speaker can be used to attach the speaker to the Cambridge Audio Minx Floor Stands (779MFSB, sold separately).

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Not really. These speakers have really phenomenal sound for their size. But you you need some real bass for a center channel speaker. These speaker are perfect for front or rear speakers. [ LESLIE NEIL  May 12, 2015 ]
While technically the hookups allow any speaker to be used for a center channel speaker it becomes a question of audio preference. So yes, the hookups are there so you could use it as one but personally I don't think you would want to skimp on the sound quality because center channel usually delivers a lot of dialog. In my own situation I bought these because I didn't want large front left and right speakers so in my mind I was sacrificing on sound quality a bit already so I wouldn't have wanted to sacrifice more on the center channel. While these deliver great sound for such a small unit, I don't think they'll replace the quality of a larger unit that incorporates the cavity of the speaker into the sound process. For my situation though it was a good compromise to get solid but not top of the line sound quality balanced with unobtrusive speakers. [ Darrell  May 11, 2015 ]
You could use this speaker as a center channel speaker, but because the center channel is responsible for most of the dialog, I don't think you would get the results you want due to it's size. [ PATRICK  May 11, 2015 ]
This speakers are good surround speakers, but I prefer to use a cambridge S50 or aero, for center channel speaker, the sounds are may much better. [ EUSEBIO  May 10, 2015 ]
