Remarkable clarity and power from compact speakers

Carefully engineered drivers for musical sound

Unlike some compact speakers which can sound shrill or fatiguing, each SX-60 uses a 1" silk soft dome tweeter for smooth, detailed highs. The tweeter's foam damper helps reduce reflections and increase soundstage depth for a truly spacious, room-filling experience. The 6-1/2" custom designed mid/woofer delivers accurate midrange and powerful, yet controlled bass with minimal distortion.

The SX-60's solidly braced MDF cabinets are computer-designed to help minimize standing waves and prevent unwanted resonance from coloring the sound. Heavy-duty, gold-plated binding posts make it easy to connect the high-quality speaker wire of your choice for top-notch performance.

Great sound, Beautiful Looks, Large Size

Written by: Scott from Houston, TX on January 21, 2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great sound. Walnut finished looked even better in person, specifically with the grill removed. Wife approved fit and finish for our living room. However, these speakers are quite large, given the bookshelf nature, and be sure to check that the specs will work for you. Returned the SX60s to get the smaller SX50s. Bass response was pretty good but if you're looking for real bass, get a sub. No bookshelf speaker in this price range will provide enough bass if listening to rap, hip hop, or action movies.

Pros: - Sound - Fit/Finish

Cons: - Larger than expected

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little speakers. Sound is crisp and clear. I play mostly vinyl and I really like the sound. These fit perfectly on my bookshelves and I like the walnut wood grain - goes well with my mid century mod shelving

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was a close call between these and the Polk RTiA3s and these eventually one out for a few reasons. Looks (more modest and natural looking), size (a bit smaller and especially not as deep), and frequency range. They sound deep for how small they are and match up great with my sub. Sound clean at high volumes... Very pleased.

Pros: Size, looks, full-bodied sound for a bookshelf speaker

Cons: It would be nice if they came with spiked feet.

Highly Accurate, musically pleasing

I have used this for two weeks on a variety of sources, CD's, vinyl mono and stereo LPs. and 78 rpm, classical and jazz. The speaker is truthful to the music, reveals detail, captures the harmonic structure of the music, whether solo piano, solo violin, solo trumpets etc or large orchestral works. I do not feel the need for a sub-woofer,because the bass is solid and convincing. Room-filling sound in a room 24x20.

Features

1" Silk Dome Tweeter: The Cambridge Audio SX-60 bookshelf loudspeakers feature a 1" silk dome tweeter that combines a soft, smooth sound with high levels of detail. A dedicated foam damper behind the tweeter reduces reflections and increases sound stage depth for a truly spacious, room-filling experience where you can pick out every instrument.

6.5" Treated Paper Cone Woofer: The SX-60 bookshelf speakers employ a custom-designed 6.5" midbass driver with a treated paper cone for a smooth and even frequency response. High power, efficient woofer magnets deliver deep bass without putting stress on your amp.

Optimized Crossover Network: The SX-60 uses a precisely optimized crossover between the woofer and tweeter that gives the smoothest and most linear response.

Rigid Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Cambridge Audio SX-60 bookshelf speakers feature a rigid MDF cabinet, expert designed to minimize standing waves and deliver deeper, tighter bass response. The enclosure employs a front-firing port for improved efficiency and bigger bass output.

Binding Posts: The Cambridge Audio SX-60 bookshelf loudspeakers are equipped with a set of binding post terminals. The binding post terminals will accept bare-wire (up to 10AWG), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and banana-plugs (dual or single). The terminals are color-coded (black/red) to distinguish between positive and negative.

Applications: The Cambridge Audio SX-60 bookshelf loudspeakers are ideal for stereo and home theater applications in smaller rooms.

Placement: Ideally the speakers and listening position should be located equal distances apart. The speakers should also be placed at ear level. In addition, the speaker should be positioned at least 2" away from the back wall. If the speakers are placed on a desk or close to a wall, the bass may become too strong. The included foam inserts will reduce the bass output when inserted into the speakers' ports.

Mounting Options: The Cambridge Audio SX-60 bookshelf loudspeakers include 8 self-adhesive foam-feet (4 each) to simply place the speakers securely on a desk, table, shelf, or speaker stand securely and safely. The foam feet add approximately 0.125" to the height of the speakers. The optional PinPoint AM41B heavy duty side-grip wall-mounting bracket (sold separately) can be used to wall mount the speakers.
