Velbon's strong, versatile Sherpa 200R is great for the budding professional photographer. Its three-section telescopic legs extend the tripod to almost five and a half feet tall, and fold down to just two feet for easy transport. Each section of the aluminum legs locks in place easily with a lever to ensure a stable platform for your camera.

The joystick-style grip lets you tilt your camera up or down, or smoothly pan your camera across a scene. Or you can lock both the pan and tilt movements with one twist when you're done making adjustments. Plus, the handle is mounted on the left which lets you keep your right hand free to operate your camera.

You can screw the included quick-release plate into the threaded tripod socket of your camera and leave it in place. That way, you can quickly attach and detach your camera from the tripod, so you'll be ready for unexpected photo opportunities when they come up. If you already have a favorite tripod head, or want to use a Velbon professional ball head, you can easily remove the panhead and mount almost any tripod head in its place.

Velbon Sherpa 200R

Written By JayC, NY on Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A sturdy tripod that's used for a camcorder and a DSLR camera.

The legs are easy to adjust and lock into place quite nicely. I like that the shoe has a bit of foam padding to keep my devices scratch free.

A bit pricey but worth the investment. I can see this tripod lasting for years
