About the Grado PS500e
Extraordinary sound and value
Extraordinary sound and value
If you've had your eye on a pair of world-class headphones, but just couldn't come up with the price of admission, you're in luck. Grado's PS500e Professional Series headphones give you a heaping helping of audiophile bliss at a price well below their flagship model. The PS500e headphones feature updates to Grado's previous PS500 headphones, including an improved driver design, better acoustic damping, and a new cable. The PS500e deliver jaw-dropping dynamics and detail, with a price and form factor that's smaller than Grado's top-of-the-line PS1000e.
A perfect blend of technology and nature
Each set of PS500e headphones is hand-crafted by Grado Labs in Brooklyn, New York. Its outer earcup housings are made of metal alloy, then fitted with an inner sleeve of specially cured mahogany wood. This combination of proprietary materials creates an air chamber that resists unwanted vibration, to ensure your sound remains unaffected by coloration and distortion. Like all Grado headphones, the PS500e uses a vented "open-air" earcup design with large, non-resonant air chambers for powerful, extended bass response and more open, spacious sound. The headphone's wide frequency range ensures you'll hear all of your music. Another nice touch is the genuine leather headband, which you can adjust for a custom fit.
These impressive 'phones work with the headphone outputs on most home audio systems, but to really hear them in all their glory we strongly recommend a headphone amplifier.

Features
e series: The Grado e series represents the company's third generation of headphones. Every aspect of the headphones; the drivers, cable, plug, even the glue; has been upgraded for better sound quality and dynamics. As in the previous series, the e series headphones are all made by hand at the Grado Lab facility in Brooklyn, NY.
Professional Series: Grado's Professional Series of headphones feature real Mahogany wood, covered by aluminum (powder-coated or chrome-plated), to create a hybrid air chamber. The Mahogany undergoes a proprietary curing process to enhance its natural tone properties. Because wood is subject to variations in density, the curing process ensures consistency of the signature Grado sound. The Grado Labs use Rhodium, the most expensive precious metal on earth, to prevent corrosion on the connectors. New driver cones and voice coil have been fine-tuned to be consistent throughout the frequency range.
PS500e: The Grado PS500e on-ear headphones have an open back design, and are hand-crafted from real Mahogany wood and covered by a powder-coated aluminum back. The natural wood, aluminum, and Grado Lab's advance damping treatments, help control and dissipate unwanted resonances. The headphones utilize UHPLC (Ultra-High Purity, Long Crystal) oxygen-free copper voice coil wire and state-of-the-art driver design. The 44mm drivers in the PS500e are matched to within 0.05dB for optimum stereo imaging. The headphones also have a genuine top-grain leather padded head strap.
8-Conductor Audio Cable: The PS500e has a high-quality 67" 8-conductor audio cable with a 3.5mm gold-plated plug. This new cable design exhibits greater control over the low and high frequencies, and lets Grado's world-famous midranges sing. The plug has a sturdy molded sleeve with ample stress relief. Included in the box is a gold-plated, snap-on 6.5mm (1/4") adapter that you can use with your home audio components.
Replaceable Cushions: The high-quality foam rubber circum-aural ear cushions can be removed for cleaning, if needed. If they show signs of wear, you can replace them with the Grado Replacement Cushion L.

These are great headphones. Sound is amazing. I did purchased the C-Cush for them for more comfort. But for the music I listen to, they are amazing.
