Advanced design for punchy, accurate Grado sound

Underneath their cool, retro looking metal exterior, Grado's Prestige Series SR325e headphones boast time-tested audio technology for high-impact sound that'll rock your tunes with the kind of punchy low-end and dynamics usually unheard of in this price range.

These headphones feature updates to Grado's previous SR325is headphones, including an improved driver design, new aluminum housing, and a high-quality cable. You'll hear clear, highly articulated sound — drums with plenty of "snap" and body, guitars and acoustic instruments with natural warmth and openness, plus taut, tuneful bass. These Grados can be driven using the headphone outputs on most home audio systems, and even work great with a portable player or laptop. But they'll really sound their best with the addition of a headphone amplifier.

Born in Brooklyn and built to perform

Each pair of SR325e headphones is still made right in Brooklyn, New York where the Grado family has been building award-winning audio gear for almost 60 years. The vented "open-air" earcup design makes for powerful, extended low frequency response and a more spacious soundstage. Hybrid metal/plastic enclosures and aluminum air chambers give you finely-detailed, crystalline highs. The ultra-high purity copper voice coils and sturdy eight-conductor connecting cable provide a smooth, refined sound with a wide frequency response that lets you hear all the music. A genuine leather headband is the nice final touch to these high-quality 'phones.

From our review of the previous Grado SR325is Headphones

I had no complaints with how the SR325is headphones handled the odd meanderings of my song collection. All the tracks were clear, clean, and, most importantly, fairly free of color. I felt like I was getting a lot of the original engineers' intent... If you can swing a headphone amp in the bargain, you'll have a listening solution that can make your music collection come alive, while adding a touch of "industrial chic" to your favorite listening space.

Product Research

Features

e series: The Grado e series represents the company's third generation of headphones. Every aspect of the headphones; the drivers, cable, plug, even the glue; has been upgraded for better sound quality and dynamics. As in the previous series, the e series headphones are all made by hand at Grado's facility in Brooklyn, NY.

Prestige Series: Grado's Prestige Series of headphones has a retro look and a sound quality that is the result of over 60 years of audio research. These headphones make the pure Grado sound signature available in an affordable package.

SR325e: The Grado SR325e, the top headphone in the Prestige Series, has an open back design, which increases the airflow through the rear metal grill to produce a full, more realistic experience. These on-ear headphones utilize UHPLC (Ultra-High Purity, Long Crystal) oxygen-free copper voice coil wire and state-of-the-art driver design. The SR325e steps up to a powder-coated aluminum housing, instead of the SpaceBlack polycarbonate. The added mass translates to a smoother transition throughout the entire frequency spectrum. The drivers in the SR325e are matched to within 0.05dB for optimum stereo imaging. The headphones also have a genuine top-grain leather padded head strap.

8-Conductor Audio Cable: The SR325e has a high-quality 67" 8-conductor audio cable with a 3.5mm gold-plated plug. This new cable design exhibits greater control over the low and high frequencies, and lets Grado's world-famous midranges sing. The plug has a sturdy molded sleeve with ample stress relief. Included in the box is a gold-plated, snap-on 6.5mm (1/4") adapter that you can use with your home audio components.

Note: The size of the plug sleeve may cause interference with some smartphone cases.

Replaceable Cushions: The high-quality foam rubber circum-aural ear cushions can be removed for cleaning, if needed. If they show signs of wear, you can replace them with the Grado Replacement Cushion L.

Note: The headphone's ear cushions are not covered in the manufacturer's one-year warranty.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: These headphones feature updates to Grado's previous SR325is headphones, including an improved driver design, new aluminum housing, and a high-quality cable. You get everything that was great bout the 325is and more at a lower price point! It's a win/win!
