About the Grado SR80e
Grado sound for a song
Grado sound for a song
Want warm, balanced, natural sound that can transport you straight to the heart of your music — without breaking the bank? Look no further. Grado's Prestige Series SR80e headphones are an affordable introduction to what high-end audio is all about. These headphones feature updates to Grado's previous SR80i headphones, including an improved driver design, better acoustic damping, and a new cable. You'll experience powerful dynamics, and the kind of focus and sonic detail you'd expect from much more expensive 'phones. They can be easily driven with a portable music player or laptop, and include a 1/4" adapter plug so you can enjoy 'em on your home system, too.
Born in Brooklyn and built to perform
Each pair of SR80e headphones is still made right in Brooklyn, New York where the Grado family has been building award-winning audio gear for more than 60 years. Like all Grado headphones, the SR80e uses a vented "open-air" earcup design with large, non-resonant air chambers for powerful, extended bass response and a more open, spacious sound. The diaphragms in each SR80e driver have been put through a special "de-stressing" process that allows them to deliver more music detail for an even larger soundstage. The drivers are also carefully matched to within 0.1 dB for enhanced stereo imaging. Plus, Grado gave these 'phones a stout four-conductor connecting cable for enhanced signal flow and bass control.
From our review of Grado's previous SR80i Headphones:
The standout point for me was the wearability — these headphones felt really comfortable for extended listening at work, and there was a minimum of ear fatigue at medium volume levels... if you want a day-in, day-out working headphone companion that faithfully reproduces your song collection... you should put a set of Grado SR80i headphones into the mix.

This is one of those products where the market is full of brand names and levels of performance. The audiophiles who test everything gave these rave reviews, especially for the price. I am very impressed. The clarity of the music is incredible. And perhaps best of all, it is made in Brooklyn, NY.
