About the Mohu Leaf 30

Steve Kindig

An antenna that's thin, smart, and cool

The Mohu Leaf® 30 is one of the best performing, easiest to install indoor TV antennas available. Its small, paper-thin design mounts easily to a wall, or just about anywhere. You can even hide it behind a picture on the wall. The Leaf 30 can receive free over-the-air HDTV broadcasts from multiple directions, so you don't have to move it to pick up signals from different TV towers.

Mohu Leaf 30

Mohu Leaf 30 mounted on a window.

The Leaf 30's sophisticated super-thin design is modeled after a mud flap antenna designed for the U.S. military. It can pull in stations in the UHF and high-band VHF ranges (channels 7-51). You'll generally get the best reception if you can place the antenna fairly high on a wall or close to a window, away from the TV and other components. The Leaf 30 is reversible — white on one side and black on the other — and is also paintable for even greater room décor adaptability.

Features

Mud-Flap style Antenna: The Mohu Leaf 30 indoor antenna is paper thin and modeled after a discrete mud-flap style antenna designed for the US Military.

30 Mile Range:  The Leaf 30 antenna performs best within 30 miles of TV transmission towers. Go here and enter in your zip-code to find out which free over-the-air VHF/UHF channels are available in your area.

Mounting Options: The Leaf 30 indoor antenna mounts on the wall, behind a picture, or just about anywhere to enable you to receive free over-the-air broadcasts.

Reversible & Paintable: The Leaf 30 is also  reversible (black or white) and paintable to match your room's decor.

10' RF-Coax Cable: The Mohu Leaf 30 includes a 10' RG59-coaxial cable, giving you the flexibility to place the antenna much higher on a wall or close to a window for optimal reception.

Q
I would like to use this for an outdoor TV adjacent to the the garage. Can I use a 20' RG6 instead of the included 10' cable? Thanks
robert  Nov 30, 2021

A
I really don't know. My antenna is placed directly behind the TV. Get excellent reception 12 miles from local station.
james  Nov 30, 2021
A
Yes. An extra 10 feet of RG6 will make no difference. Cable line loss is minimal at 20 feet. Just be sure to have good, secure connectors on each end if you make up the cable yourself.

yes, on my samsung i went to SOURCE and input antenna, this way i can go back and forth from cable to local
jeff  Aug 12, 2021
A
Yes, connected to a different input you would just select it instead of your cable/satellite box
mark  Aug 10, 2021
A
You should be able to, yes. I have DirecTV (satellite). I purchased because there was a lengthy dispute which made our NBC stations unavailable. This was easy to install, both video and audio are high quality, and we were able to view NBC until the dispute was settled. We got around 60 channels with this antenna.

I HAVE A SMALL 24 INCH TV IN MY SPARE ROOM WITH THE ANTENNA MOUNTED ON THE WALL BEHIND THE TV. WORKS FINE
jeff  Jun 29, 2021
A
Yes, if it is not attached to the TV. I mounted ours on the back wall of the cabinet opening containing our flat-screen TV, about 24 inches from the TV.
george j  Jun 28, 2021
A
You could, keeping in mind antenna location effects reception. Behind the TV may affect channels you receive. Lastly, don't block TV ventilation then decide if location works for you after channel scan.
mark  Jun 28, 2021
Q
do the antenna connect to the tv by Rg 59 cable?
herman v  Jan 01, 2021
1 answer
A
The antenna comes with a 10 ft. coaxial cable to connect to the tv.
terrance  Jan 01, 2021
Q
Is everything included in the box to connect the antenna to the TV? Thanks.
james  Oct 16, 2020
3 answers
A
Yes. Everything is included to attach antenna to TV. However there is only enough material to attach the antenna to a window once. Should you need to move the antenna to another window or location, you will need to remove the self stick Velcro from the previous window or supply your own. Just make sure the location you choose works well for reception for your particular TV.
daniel  Oct 16, 2020

James, yes it is all plug-and-play

richard c  Sep 19, 2018

No! That is the best part. It operates like an old roof attennae!
glenn  Sep 19, 2018
A
No you don't, it picks up digital broadcast channels
michael  Sep 19, 2018
A
No, neither is needed. I found that this antenna works best in front of a window preferably facing the direction of the incoming television signals. I get like 18 channels where I am. I used those plastic pushy pins to mount my antenna to the trim around a window.

Q
I had this as a back up antenna on my Sony tv. I got a new tv and now it does not revieve any channels. The thing I notice different is that on the old tv, it channel selection was say 3.1 3.2 10.1 etc. And now it is just 3 6 10 etc. It is not looking for the subdigits. The tv is a Samsung ultra 4k. is there something I am missing in the seet up? Thanks
dan  May 29, 2015

A
I don't think I have an answer but my Mohu Works fine. When I first got my new TV I had to reprogram the stations and I was able to get the sub digits. My antenna was attached later. I hope this problem is quickly resolved.
kathleen  Jun 01, 2015
A
I cannot say for sure but I have used both the Mohu and Winegard HDTV antennas on my SONY HDTV's. Both have worked the same when scanning for station broadcast and did so as you experienced with your Sony TV. Therefore, I would think it is possibility do to the 'settings' on the Samsung 4K, that's where I would start to troubleshoot.
dwight a.  May 30, 2015
A
This is just a guess. Check your channel selection menu. Use "TV Antenna" or "Antenna" then do the auto-channel select feature and it should choose all those channels. If you did the search when the setting was on HDMI 1; or Cable it won't work.

Q
I live at a ski resort on the Vermont/Canadian border,I receive no local channels & the closest town is 30 miles away & isn't a large town...will this antenna receive local network channels through the mountains?
michael  Nov 14, 2014

A
Digital TV broadcasts require a line-of-sight between your antenna and the broadcasting tower. I live within 20 miles of Washington D.C. and plenty of potential channels, but because I am in a shallow bowl with a thick tree border, I cannot get any of the DC stations.
matthew  Nov 18, 2014
A
This was a gift for my son who lives in Seattle. A lot of tall buildings, etc between him and his TV. He has said it is fabulous. He gets the channels he needs with a perfect picture. He would recommend highly for his situation. Cannot speak to the mountain situation, but he said he would personally try it.
linda  Nov 17, 2014
A
I have no experience in "mountain" areas. I get good reception from stations approx. 25 miles away, in an area that could be classified as some rolling hills.
fred  Nov 14, 2014
A
I live in the Smokey mountains of NC, I get great reception from the local stations and from as far as 80 miles away. For the price, I would get one and give it a try.
william  Nov 14, 2014
A
I know our mountain has serious cell plus, towers....they can't use the mountain top condo anymore because of antennas up there...microwave or cell...not sure
michael  Nov 14, 2014
A
doubt it, but its about where the nearest broadcast tower is , not nearest town.
robert  Nov 14, 2014
A
This antenna works remarkably well, though I am in an urban setting. I do receive broadcasts from 50-60 miles away though. There are no mountains either here. So, not sure if my experience is relevant for you.
