Mohu Leaf

Mohu Leaf Ultimate mounted on a wall.

The Leaf® Ultimate is Mohu's best performing super-thin TV antenna. It mounts easily to a wall, or just about anywhere, really. You can even hide it behind a picture on the wall. The Leaf Ultimate can receive free over-the-air HDTV broadcasts from multiple directions, so you don't have to move it to pick up signals from different TV towers.

The Leaf's sophisticated super-thin design is modeled after a mud flap antenna designed for the U.S. military. It can pull in stations in the UHF and high-band VHF ranges (channels 7-51). You'll generally get the best reception if you can place the antenna fairly high on a wall or close to a window, away from the TV and other components. The Leaf is white on one side and black on the other, and is also paintable for even greater room décor adaptability.

Mohu's signal amplifier gives the Ultimate its edge

What makes this antenna "Ultimate" is Mohu's high-performance antenna amplifier. It uses patent-pending technology to increase reception range while filtering out the RF noise that can harm picture quality. Compared to the Leaf antenna alone, most people find that the Ultimate's antenna/amplifier combo lets them receive more stations, while also producing a clearer picture on stations with less-than-perfect reception. The compact amplifier module connects between the Leaf antenna and your TV.

You have a couple of options for powering the amplifier. There's a mini USB port on the amplifier module, which allows you to power it off of any standard USB port on your TV — the USB-to-mini-USB cable is included. The advantage of USB power is that the amplifier will only draw power when the TV is turned on, instead of 24/7. If you don't have an available USB port on your TV, the amplifier also includes a regular AC power adapter, which you can plug into any standard wall outlet.

Features

Mud-Flap style Antenna: The Leaf  Ultimate indoor antenna is paper thin and modeled after a discrete mud-flap style antenna designed for the US Military. The Leaf Ultimate indoor antenna mounts on the wall, behind a picture, or just about anywhere to enable you to receive free over-the-air broadcasts. It is also  reversible (black/white) and paintable to match your room's decor.

Note: The Leaf Ultimate antenna performs best within 50 miles of TV transmission towers.

Amplifier w/ Clean Peak Filter Technology: The included digital antenna amplifier with Clean Peak Filter Technology is designed to amplify TV stations and filter out any RF signals that can hinder picture quality. The digital amplifier allows you to pull in a clearer picture, more stations, and increase overall performance.

USB/AC Powered: The digital antenna amplifier is powered via a USB port located on the amp which allows you to power the antenna amplifier using an open USB port on the back of your TV. The advantage of doing so is that the amplifier will only draw power when the TV is turned on, eliminating parasitic power consumption when the amplifier isn't needed. If you do not have an open USB port on the back of your TV, the antenna amplifier also includes an AC power adapter that will enable you to power the amplifier using any standard AC wall outlet.

16' RF-Coax Cable: The Mohu Leaf Ultimate includes a 16' RF-coaxial cable, giving you the flexibility to place the antenna much higher on a wall or close to a window for optimal reception.

Q
I live in Queens NY. Can I get Channel 7,11 and 13 with this?

Bought this for my daughter that lives in DC. We were able to get a number of local stations in that area, even inside their apt, BUT you may have to change spots for the antenna for a particular station. It all depends where the transmitters are located, how high up you are and what obstructions you might encounter. Transmitter locations should be found on-line if you are interested. In a major city signal strength should not be a problem, just location and obstructions.

Unfortunately I don't think I can be of much help. I live at the other end of the state. To add to your woe's I am only able to pick up UHF Channels and not VHF and not all the time. I will say the television in in my basement and moveing the antenna around does help at times. But, again, only for UHF Channels

Probably will be able to but I live 600 miles from there. Mohu is terrific! We receive about 15 stations. About a 40 -50 mile radius. Much better reception than cable. Great buy! Good luck to you!!

It didn't work for me: 1. Failed to pick up all local channels; 2. Appeared to be sentitive to placement (hight and direction). I had to return it. It doesn't mean that the antenna is bad, there might have been other reasons related to my home and TV location. So, I bought a different one and it worked fine.

Sorry I live in Harrisonburg Va. And it works great here but I can't answer the question for Queens.

Is this antenna excellent for a basement apartment?

No, i don't think it would be unless you were very close to the station antennas.

Using it in ground level apartment

I don't think so. I'm pretty happy with the antenna, but it will not receive all the channels that Mohu says it will on the internet in my area. I was told that was because all the incoming antennas are on the south side of my house and I have it mounted in a north facing bedroom. I would think the reception would be worse in a basement.

I live on a hill just outside of Harrisonburg and have it in my living room on my main level and it works great. Sorry I do not have living quarters downstairs so I can not speak accurately to a basement apartment. They will let you buy it and try it out to see if it works for your particular situation.

Q
Purchased one of these and received more UHF then I thought I would but zero VHF. When I tried to pull them in the picture is broken. Will a secondary amp provide a gain that will help? If not, what do you suggest?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That antenna already has a built in amp so another amp won't be a good choice. Unless the antenna is defective you should be able to pick up stations within 50 miles between channels 7-51 depending on what is offered in your area. You can check the antenna web guide to get an idea what you should be getting here: http://www.antennaweb.org/ If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
