When it comes to children and seniors, out of sight is definitely not out of mind. Now you can keep track of the ones you love with the PocketFinder Personal GPS Locator. This compact device is about the size of a cookie, so it fits easily into a pocket or a keychain. It weighs a mere 1.4 oz., but its waterproof, impact-resistant plastic shell stands up to everyday wear and tear. The rechargeable battery lasts up to one week on a charge, with adjustable settings to extend battery life.

The included device holder is made of durable, comfortable silicone and attaches to clothing or backpacks with the included carabiner. The Personal GPS Locator can travel nearly anywhere and is recommended for children, teens, adults, and seniors, including special-needs individuals who may wander off without any warning.

Real-time updates

The PocketFinder uses GPS technology to report and record the bearer's location, direction, speed and travel history. The interface makes it easy to set geo-fence zones and even speed limits, so it's especially helpful when you want to know where your teens are driving and how fast they're getting there. The locator will send email or text alerts sent to your smartphone, tablet or computer so you'll instantly be aware of boundary exits or speed limit violations.

Handy size

Easy to use — anywhere

You can track your devices and manage your account via the PocketFinder website or the free mobile app for your tablet or smartphone. The web and app interfaces make it easy to keep up with all of your loved ones on one account. A monthly subscription fee of $12.95 is needed to access PocketFinder features in the U.S. and Canada. You'll need to set up an account online, but no contracts are required.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Pocketfinder Personal GPS Locator, from Location Based Technology (LBT), is a GPS tracking device that provides real-time location information for the person or object you wish to track. The unit lets you know where it is at any time through the Pocketfinder website or on your smartphone through a free mobile app. The device can be used to help locate your child, pet, or an elderly person. It can also be used with luggage, or on a boat, motorcycle, or other motorized vehicle.

Usage: The device is designed to be carried or worn by the person you wish to keep up with. It is small enough to be carried in a pocket. With the included rubberized case and clips, the device can be clipped to clothing or a backpack, or worn on a belt. The case further protects the unit from the elements for better reliability and longer life.

How It Works: The Personal GPS Locator utilizes the latest in Assisted GPS (A-GPS) technology. Motion sensors are used to provide location updates every 1, 3, or 5 minutes (you select the interval), and is accurate to within 10 feet. The device is powered by a built-in rechargeable battery, and comes with a charging base. Typically, a charge lasts 3-4 days. The location, heading, and speed data can be pinpointed on Google Premier mapping, available on the Pocketfinder website, or on a free mobile app on iOS, Blackberry, and Android devices.

Advanced Features: The Pocketfinder Personal GPS Locator has the following features:

  • Geo-Fence: You can set up an unlimited number of geo-fence zones. You will receive alerts when the device enters the zone, exits the zone, or both.
  • Speed Limits: If used in a vehicle, you can set a speed limit for the vehicle. If the vehicle exceeds the set speed limit, you will receive an alert.
  • Alerts: Alerts can be received via email, SMS (text message), or push notifications.
  • History: You can view up to 60 days of detailed location history

Your Account: A contract-free subscription is required (currently $12.95 per month) for each device. The plan includes unlimited location lookups and emergency contacts, as well as email alerts, SMS (text message) alerts, iOS push notifications, access to the device's 60-day history, unlimited zones and speed alerts, and storage for medical and emergency information and photos. The subscription covers the United States and Canada. International coverage is also available. Multiple devices can be managed in one account using the website or mobile apps.
