iDatalink's Maestro ADS-MRR module, along with the correct interface harness for your vehicle, allows you to install a new car stereo in select late-model Ford, GM, Chrysler, Toyota, or Volkswagen vehicles while retaining your factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.
First, you connect the Maestro to your Windows-based computer (not compatible with Mac or Windows 10) using the included USB cable, visit www.idatalink.com/maestro, and follow the instructions. Once the unit has been "flashed," it's ready to go. Next, you'll either solder or crimp the vehicle-specific Maestro harness (sold separately) to your new receiver's wiring, just like you would with any Crutchfield wiring harness or wiring adapter.

Great harness, however, you must have a Windows PC to program it. There were issues programming, but I figured it out. Read the installation instructions carefully, and if you follow them, it's a snap! No issues at all once I installed it, takes about 30 mins.

Well first thing after opening it you have to get on their website to program it for your vehicle. That process is quick and easy. I thought it was cool that you could program your steering wheel controls how ever you wanted. The installation was easy. There was a couple of wires not used that come with it. Every thing works like it was supposed to on the first try.
Pros: It worked like it was supposed to. All radio functions and vehicle info worked.
Cons: Finding a good place to mount the box itself so that you would have enough of the harness left to connect to the head unit.
There is no doubt when the maestro is working the interface is great! But as with all things in aftermarket car the instructions are lacking. 1.) Please change the interface so that active-x is NOT required!!! Every browser HAS moved away from that technology. It does work in Windows 10, you just have to open internet explorer - not the Edge browser. 2.) Another major pain was the lack of instructions as to where to place to 2 interfaces from the radio to the maestro!! A.) 4 Pin connector goes to the black connection on the maestro!! B.) didn't even know that about the other 2 pin connector that connected to the Pioneer with an audio jack labeled WR.

The Maestro module was for my new Pioneer AVH-4200NEX. I was worried about the steering wheel controls, but I got a lot more than that with this module. The prep is tedious (programming settings and studying their installation instructions) but if you read everything and do like they say, the results are worth it. Besides keeping the steering wheel controls, I got: - backup and parking brake wires are part of the VW wiring harness, so I didn't have to take apart the interior just for the Head Unit (HU). - Vehicle info can be displayed on the HU (like engine load, RPM, MPG, etc) - I had a choice to use OEM or Pioneer bluetooth The BEST part - since the GTI has no accessory key position - is when I turn the key to OFF, the HU keeps playing, and the bluetooth keeps working. Until I pull out the key - that's when the HU turns OFF. With the OEM setup, the radio and bluetooth went off. You could make the radio play if you hit the ON/OFF button, but the bluetooth stayed off. The part about pulling out the key just makes so much sense for a VW.
Pros: Idata's web site was great for downloading whatever it was for setting up the module. Instructions detailed and clear. Adds features I never knew existed for a GTI.

I purchased this unit over the other units because I wanted to display above the radio to function. The product works well but I wish it had some other options available during programming. Programming the unit is easy enough, but you must use internet explorer and only internet explorer. I ended up programming the unit 5 times, but that was only to remove Sync and to change button configurations. I thought I wanted the buttons set a certain way only to find out I didn't like the way I had them. I ended up with the factory setup plus using the "ok" button as a mute. The secondary button option is a plus. Setup and test the buttons to make sure that you like the setup before finishing the radio install. Initially I wanted to retain Ford Sync, which this unit does. However, when I have it configured to use Sync I cannot use Pandora source on my headunit because it is paired to Sync. Well actually, I can play Pandora and such through Ford Sync, but you control it from the phone. I liked it paied to the radio better since I can see the Pandora song information and can control Pandora from the headunit. I decided to do away with Sync since my radio does all the functions that Sync does but better. I found out with this setup I cannot use the factory microphone, I had to install the one that came with the radio.
Pros: Easy setup, secondary steering wheel button functionality a plus. With the right wiring harness, I didn't have to cut any of my factory wiring. I did have to call tech support, one guy seemed very helpful the other one not so much.
Cons: Must purchase a separate vehicle harness. A lot of excess wire. The instructions definitely could be better. You have to download the instruction and diagram from the internet. The diagram was enough to wire the unit, but there was not a decent instruction manual to cover the programming process, though it is easy. There is nothing that discusses the options you can select during programming. Had to call tech support to find out if I do not use Ford Sync, I could not use the factory microphone.
Include instructions with the product! Even the online instructions are less than stellar. Lots of guesswork goes into the installation process.

Cons: Programming can be a pain, and Crutchfield can't help you. You have to deal with iDataLink, and that can be difficult if you have a job, as their business hours are very inconvenient for the working public.
This unit worked well and was easy to program ONCE....I figured things out. NOTE: this requires activeX to flash the unit or program for your vehicle. You do it via the web interface. For me, I have Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge none of which support ActiveX. So, I had to download an old version of Microsoft IE to run ActiveX. Other than that, things went well and install was fine. There is probably an easier way but, I installed on a Sunday and their tech support is only available M-F. I didn't call Crutchfield maybe they would have a better answer? As awesome as the Crutchfield team is, I'm sure they would have.

Where to start... I bought the components(Pionner 3800BHS, Maestro RR, Idatalink HRRGM5, Sirus/XM-SXV300) recommended by Crutchfield that I needed to keep my SWC and OnStar but all I got was SWC. Installation requires an internet connected PC. That was fine until I had to take the unit out to re-flash about 6 or 7 times to no avail. I'm wondering how many times you can actually plug and un-plug the cables before having an issue. Thankfully the installer did nor close up all the panels so we could work with the Maestro unit as we found the issue checking the install. OnStar can faintly be heard and does not hear me. They have had me flash the unit more times than I want to admit and have had tried 3 or more different firmware versions. Crutchfield support has been really good I wish I could say the same for the Maestro product. Have not heard anything in 9 days now. Beyond my return date so I'm now stuck with a piece of junk.

Amazing product this was my first time using this product after many previous double din navigation and dvd receiver installs in the past. Made the wiring plug and play. The programming was easy and the added steering wheel functions are super nice. I will certainly use this whenever possible in the future.

This is a must with most later model vehicles. It allowed me to retain steering wheel controls, Bluetooth phone and aftermarket backup camera. I also really like the fact that it comes with a small external speaker that I elected not to install so now I don't have to listen to the annoying door chime when my door is open, and no more annoying blinkers clicking. You will lose on-star audio from what I'm told but I would never have used it anyways.
Works well. Easy to use. Very easy to wire. Just follow directions and plug harnesses together.
You must use the T02 harness with this in a 2016 Toyota Rav4, not the T01 harness. It also says the square plug is not needed, but it is needed for the factory usb in the front. I plugged the usb end of the plug into my Android Auto USB (USB2) of the Pioneer 4200 NEX and it worked. Everything is retained from factory except the factory Bluetooth mic which you would think it would be possible. This includes the rear camera, steering wheel controls, usb, aux, and it reads the vehicle computer very well. The factory settings controlled through the factory head unit (for door lock and light options) are retained and carried over into the settings. It also shows my tire pressure where as it did not do this factory. I have the LE model which does not have the read out but apparently the sensors are still there. It shows RPM, MPH, Engine Load, Coolant Temp, Fuel/Air Ratio, to just name a few on the dash unit.
Pros: Does everything and more, too many pro's to list.
All the features worked as stated then I noticed heavy smoke rolling out of the maestro unit. Motherboard is burnt. Googled the problem and saw where others had the same issue.

I'm currently still in the install process. I had a very hard time linking this up to a pioneer 4100 NEX, I have spent countless hours on the phone with Crutchfield trying to solve issue. I currently am not able to retain my factory Rear system audio (RSA) headphone jacks for the kid. Idatalink currently will not power on a Kenwood 9702s and I've reflashed the module countless times. Has not been as rock solid as I've read. I'm definelty worried I'll be driving and lose all radio functions. Wiring diagrams are ver generic from Idatalink and did not match exactly the module I had. Crutchfield has been a lot of help trying to resolve these issues and Idatalink has not been much help.
It's a great idea, but make sure you go to the iDatalink website and use the simulator to make sure it'll meet your needs. Mine will not use the Voice, OK, or Phone buttons on the steering wheel unless you keep the Ford OEM Sync. Sync is what was my reason for replacing the entire system. It's a 2010 Expedition with 2007 Ford software trying to interface with an iPhone 6 Plus running an iOS that came out last week (April 2016) No wonder the sync no longer speaks to my iPhones. So, iDatalink, you need to be a replacement for the Ford Sync My Ride and work on your own with all the buttons and functions. Not being able to go "next preset" is annoying at best. I was told I'd have to configure this in the Kenwood, but that option is not there. Connecting to the Ford system reproduces the problem I had to begin with

I am not impressed with the Maestro RR. I bought a Pioneer AVIC-8100NEX that said "optimized for the Maestro RR." Trying to get everything working in my truck with this thing was a heck of a time. I ended up having to call Maestro's tech support because I couldn't get my truck to start after I had everything hooked up. Tech support literally had me unplug everything and plug it all in one piece at a time. The final formula was the exact same thing I did in the first place. After I hung up with tech support, I mounted the radio and everything else in the dash kit then reassembled the dash. My truck wouldn't start again. For some reason, my truck absolutely refuses to start unless I have the original WiFi module installed along with the Maestro. The only things that work fairly flawlessly are the blinkers and door chimes. One very annoying issue is the accessory kill option, I'm supposed to be able to start my truck without the radio turning off. My 8100NEX takes a long time to turn on and even longer every time I start the truck. I don't know if my truck was/is the issue, but next time I'll stick to the Metra kit.

This worked great except for one button on the steering wheel. I programmed the "volume down" button to reduce volume but it brings the preset channels down. I am currently working with Maestro on a software fix. Other than that it worked great. The online instruction could be improved. You have to select a steering wheel type. One with no telephone buttons or one with audio only buttons or one with no buttons. You select a picture in the app that matches your steering wheel. The images look exactly alike for one with telephone buttons and audio buttons or the one with audio buttons only. That can be confusing.
Pros: Allows you to retain factory features while greatly improving the radio.

It does what it says it does. I was lucky to be working in a dash that had a lot of space available.....normal sized vehicles may pose a challenge to find a place for it and the wires. The instructions didn't quite match the unit....some of the wiring didn't quite match up and directions are a little vague on what the specific wires do. There were a number of calls to tech support and pulling the unit a couple of times to get everything working right. Tech support is only open during "normal" hours, which of course, are not the hours most self-installers are working on it, so a few days drifted by. But this is six months later and it continues to work flawlessly.
Pros: Makes keeping your steering wheel controls possible. Use means very minimal wire splicing.
Cons: Takes up some space and may not be testable until things are fairly put back together. Changes mean pulling it all out again.

Cons: So when I hold down volume down button on my steering console. It goes to mute. I dislike this greatly. The Hang up button on the steering wheel is obsolete. I am so unsatifised with this. Also The equipment is only PC compatible. I own a MAC. I didn't find this out until I relieved it. Who looks to see if a piece of equipment for their truck is PC or MAC compatible. It was a pain to get it setup.
Great product, allows full integration with factory ECU system
Break out the spaghetti! Between this and the Maestro K150, wow! After looking at the wiring, though, it wasn't so bad. Not all wires will be used. This has a cable that connects directly to my Kenwood for data communication.

Installed with Kenwood DDX393 in my 2011 F-150. Clear instructions and wiring was a snap. Operates all steering wheel controls as advertised and allowed me to keep all SYNC system functions. Even fires the old SYNC display with artist/track information.

Product seems to be working fine once installed. The downloading procedure off of your computer is very hard. I contacted tech support and was told I had the wrong web browser (and I have three). Ended up taking it to another retailer to have them download the drivers so it could communicate with my vehicle. Allow extra time for downloading the drivers to the product. Other than that it works fine and is worth the time to use.

The iDatalink Maestro works perfectly with my 2012 Expedition and Alpine X008U to retain Sync for and free calling and internal gauges display. Complicated wiring harness, but definitely worth it to maintain full factory functionality.
Pros: Perfect for maintaining factory system integration.
Cons: Quirky to program, requires Internet Explorer and Windows to program, with some security features turned off. I had to dive into the iDatalink forums to find the solution to get it programmed.

I installed this on a 2013 F150 after replacing the entire factory system. I have retained all factory functionality, including SYNC (for better or worse), the steering wheel controls work great (no delays), and the vehicle diagnostics are pretty cool too. Installation was not nearly as bad as I thought it might be, with zero wire-tapping and just a few crimp connects between the aftermarket receiver's main harness and this unit. Everything else was direct harness-to-harness connections, including the OBD-II connection (which will have to be unplugged for diagnostics by a repair shop or emissions inspection.
Pros: Maintained 100% of my original functionality plus added a few features I didn't have before.
Cons: A huge spaghetti bowl of wiring. You can expect to spend a fair amount of time just staring at the wiring diagram and actual wires before it finally clicks in your head and you understand what to do with all of it.
Excellent support of steering wheel switches in Dodge Caliber. However, integration with other devices isn't as good. Fader control may be lost with factory amplifiers.
Pros: Allows customization of the steering wheel buttons to allow most common functions to be handled without removing your hands from the steering wheel. For example, Mute can be set up as a press-and-hold of down volume, unlike factory radio which requires reaching over to the head unit.
Cons: Doesn't support all factory digital amplifier features. Per Crutchfield tech support, only certain head units will support the digital output needed to keep the fader control.

Works good, but doesn't support back up camera On my 2009 jeep, allows custom setting for steering controls which is nice, and my uconnect didn't work after, even though it said it supported it for my model, the installation of the wiring could be better.

Cons: The programming and updating via the website was a little tricky to get working due to browser restrictions and web based content management. Most web based applications are like that, but this one couldn't use chrome or MS Edge (default in windows 10). I had to open up an older version of Internet Explorer to get it work.

This review is based on my experience with the Maestro iDatalink coupled to a Pioneer AVIC-4100NEX receiver in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler with the stock Alpine Radio System. I changed out the head unit for the Pioneer AVIC-4100NEX. I have used Pioneer for decades. Always liked the interface and performance. Tried others but came back to Pioneer. I coupled it with the Maestro iDatalink to retain steering wheel and voice controls. It works fine except the fader will not stay set. Once the car is turned off and back on the fader setting reverts back to 0 (or near zero, it's not always zero). Pioneer blames iDatalink and says there are no updates for the 4100NEX. Crutchfield says it's an issue with Pioneer. Looking on the net, seems that the Metra ASWC-1 works with the Pioneer although that unit requires some wire splicing. Crutchfield sells it. Don't know if I can get my money back on the iDatalink, it's been 6 months since purchase. But I will try the Metra ASWC-1 in hopes that the fader setting will stay set.
Great little device to retain factory features and wiring. I used this gizmo to retain the steering wheel controls and use of the factory Infinity amplifier and speakers in my '11 Wrangler when I installed a Pioneer head unit. For my application a couple of the wires were Very difficult to access, but they are unique to my vehicle and I may have approached them from the wrong panel. The iDatalink Maestro must be programmed before you use it and you will need to do some soldering on the harness. Once installed it worked perfectly as advertised.
Pros: Does what it says. It let me keep using my steering wheel controls and factory installed amplifier after installing my Pioneer head unit.
Cons: It takes some work to install, but it is easy work if you can solder wires and apply some heat shrink.
Part of the recommended install kit for the JVC KW-V11 I purchased. The instructions provided for the Maestro from their website led to a support call with Crutchfield. The support tech was able to diagnose and resolve the issue quickly.

Cons: Crap instructions for wiring. Misleading flashing instructions on their website led to re-flashing the device once.
I was pleasantly surprised how much integration the kit provided to the factory APIs on my Charger. It allows my Kenwood 9702S to display feeds on the engine and tire pressure that I didn't realize the car could do. And the steering wheel controls are everything the kit promised.
Hookup was easy with this, the required ford harness, and a pioneer unit. Wiring diagram was pretty simple to follow, and once the harnesses were all wired together it was pretty much plug-in ready, then a few simple steps when first powered up to complete the programming setup and it was done. All the steering wheel controls work great, and are even customizable. I can return to using Sync if I want to re-flash the module (am currently not using Sync) and factory amp is still used for my amp with this unit.
Pros: Everything works great, is customizable, and can be re-flashed if you want to change which factory features to retain later.
Cons: Instructions seem a little outdated, as it showed splicing into a couple of wires for the OBD-II connection but the harness actually came with an OBD-II plug on those wires, so it just had to be plugged into the OBD-II plug in the vehicle.

Lets me keep my Sync - Steering Wheel controls etc.. now with their newer version (and new harness version) dont even have to cut into any wires for the OBDII link or the Sync module link. Its completely plug and play after you do the initial software install from your PC. Only thing Ive seen that I would call a negative is it sometimes gets a little buggy on the stereo controls when you try and make configuration changes to the OBDII settings - have to reboot radio as it will lock up from time to time. but not sure if that is this module OR the Stereo.. The other issue would be their directions for my F150 and stereo combination were a little off.. as their new harness has you connect the speaker leads (which now have RCA jacks on them) to the amplifier output jacks -- well of course with no amplifier feeding those into the factory harness... you get only a whisper of sound..easily remedied by cutting off the RCA jacks and connecting to the stereo high power output leads. Other quirk I noticed as I have two of these modules on two vehicles -- on my F150 it doesnt allow you to pull trouble codes from the ECU or any data for the gauges screens other than RPM.. same module / same stereo on my 2013 Mustang - will read trouble codes and clear them if I want -- gives me almost 35 different engine conditions I can monitor on the gauges screen.. not sure why they would be different .. but they are - All in all though makes an aftermarket stereo install VERY simple.
Pros: Keeps Sync, Steering Wheel Controls, Sync Bluetooth with nothing but snapping on the correct harness plugs to the module. Also allows you to see the TPMS data, Battery Voltage, and in some cases trouble codes -AND definitions for them - and reset them too.. If you can follow simple directions VERY quick and easy to install.
Cons: sometimes communication with the ODBII gets a little quirky. If module cant be reset from stereo when it locks up you have to take your dash apart again to reset it manually. (Both of those instances only happened 1 time in 18 months) - Froze up - unable to reset or control from stereo - had to pull it out and do manual reset with button on housing.

I've used harnesses before but I didn't like this one. My chimes were retained, but I don't like that onstar and oem bluetooth comes through the chime speaker. There's also a wire for the parking brake to hook to your stereo so you won't have to tap your car wire, but that didn't work. I called idatalink, they said the car sends data through that tells the radio its in park and nothing I can do about the chime speaker situation thats how it works. Maybe it's just my car? You have to flash the module, and everything else is easy if you follow directions after that.

The iDatalink Maestro will allow you to retain all your factory settings with your receiver. I have a Kenwood DDX5902 installed and was able to retain my steering whell controls, backup camera and able to bpyass the Ford Sync and use the receiver to control my cell phone.

I was able to find all of the wiring diagrams online and printed the pages to a file as recommended, then reviewed the instructions on my phone while crimping all of the wires in the harness. If you are familiar with crimp connects and working with thin gauge wire, then this installation will not be a challenge. Be sure to flash the device prior to installation.

Chose the IDatalink Maestro because it promised the most when paired with my Pioneer AVIC-7000NEX, I was wrong. Per IDatalink's own latest manual for my Grand Cherokee SRT8 "retains steering wheel controls, Uconnect, Uconnect Bluetooth, and more!". More? Do tell because all I got was the steering wheel controls, nothing else. The install instructions were outdated "latest from their website" and I later found I didn't need to hook up one supplied cable or splice in the OBD2 connections.. Two stars for keeping steering wheel controls and factory amp (which I don't need). Also being that it was their harness they could've supplied backup cam and gps adapters. Please note Crutchfield isn't responsible for these issues and they did throw in the IDatalink and harness at quite a discount with the head unit.

I installed this myself and it was not really that hard to do. Just follow instructions. Crutchfield advisers and the support from idatalink made this rather easy. Kept all of my factory settings with this product. I would add that one must have some basic electrical and installation experience to do this.

This product is amazing, and it's the primary reason I chose to install an aftermarket radio into my brand new F250. All of my Sync features and steering wheel controls were retained, with plenty of bonuses provided by the Idatalink Sync combination. The only drawback was the sheer volume of wires that the harness marriage produces. I personally couldn't fit it into my dash, and had to have my set up professionally installed. I flashed the module and wired the harnesses together, but couldn't fit the radio and harnesses into the radio cavity. I can't say if that's a problem for other vehicles, but it was for mine. It took someone with experience to run that stuff through my dash.

Second it asks for the pioneer radio serial number which it needs to communicate to the radio, that is incorrect it needs the access PIN number from the radio, which you need to power up the radio to access.

Not the easiest thing to install. First of all, required Windows 7 running Internet Explorer. I have never used a Windows computer before (sorry, lifelong Mac person). Finally borrowed a computer and my car was not listed in the options. Called to iDatalink and they said "just pretend you have last year's model and that should probably work." Really, are you kidding me? Finally got it flashed and installed but took more effort than it should have. However, I do like that not only did I keep my steering wheel controls, I got to program them to do exactly what I wanted them to do.

So far my experience with this device has not been the greatest. I bought this along with the gm5+ to work with my ahv-x4700bs. i have an 078 silverado ext cab ltz w/ bose system. So far after flashing the firmware on the head unit and downloading the programmer for the unit and putting the right profile on it, half the time the chimes dont work, not just the door open chime or open with key in chime. it also effects my back up assist chimes and blinkers. The steering wheel controls work as they should half the time, the other half they do the opposite of what they should. Sometimes when i play music via bluetooth i can no longer hear phone audio through my speakers afterwards, im not sure if that is part of the rr problem or the head unit though. I also have an android phone with mirrorlink abilities and half the time it doesnt work right either.

The set up states that you need to flash the module with a computer running windows 7 or earlier. All my computers are older then 3 years old and none of them have that old of an operating system on them! I spent day looking for a friend that I could borrow a vintage computer from with no luck. I ended up using my windows 8 computer and it seemed to work fine. It's not a perfect fit and solution if you want everything to work like stock but it's acceptable! customer service is 9-5 m-f so if your installing on a weekend there will be no support!

Lots of wires to work through. However, all wires are color coded and if you take your time and follow the installation instructions carefully all steering wheel functionality remains intact as it was from the factory. I had to call iDatalink's customer support concerning the plugin that has to be installed before you flash your unit. The technician was very helpful and was able to resolve my plugin installation problem within 5 minutes.

As other reviewers have pointed out, the iDatalink is a decent product in concept, not necessarily in practice. Note that this review encompasses both units I've had to tear my truck apart to install. Basically, interfacing the phone functionality between the Pioneer and factory Sync properly is a mystery to tech support at Crutchfield, Pioneer, and iDatalink. Once the install instructions are followed (and even reflashing the unit two to three times) the radio is incapable of answering calls from the steering wheel and will display "unknown" to any contacts associated with Sync phone commands: (call John Smith; "calling John Smith" - radio display shows "unknown" and all call commands have to be initiated from radio screen. God bless Crutchfield for trying, but their tech support is ill-prepared to deal with all the nuances of all the products they sell. Calling Pioneer or iDatalink results in a blame game as to whose interface is causing the problem and neither offers meaningful support. Good thing the radio is smarter than all of us and rebooted itself at a stoplight yesterday and NOW my phone works like a charm! Apparently this last step should be added to the instruction manual? The only remaining issue is that trying to skip a song on my iPod/iPhone from my steering wheel results in it skipping through the song and not over it. Irritating, but at this point - I'll take it!

It does what it says it will do for the most part. instructions i received were incorrect though. but a quick call to Crutchfield and they confirmed i did indeed need to cut the RCA's off the speaker wires since i was not going to an amp with the doors even though the instruction sheet said that there were separate wires for that function. SYNC pretty much works always. It is a little slower starting and responding than before and has developed an issue staying paired with my phone since adding the idatalink. but i haven't been annoyed enough with it to do anything about it. I could have sworn the compatibility matrix said my factory sat radio would be retained. it was not though. not that big of a deal, but something for future buyers to double check if they are interested in keeping sat radio,.

Apparently this is a necessary piece of equipment to use when installing an aftermarket radio. Especially when my 07 RAM 1500 has an Infinity 7 speaker sound system with its own Infinity amp. After stumbling thru the online instructions and a call or two to Crutchfield tech support, I completed the installation. It works fairly well as far as steering wheel controls, but the MAESTRO will not let me fade the music from front to rear. Called again to Crutchfield tech support and was informed that it only received two channel input. Kinda wierd, but not terrible. All 7 speakers still get powered by the Infinity amp, but by only 2 channel feed, not 4. Still sounds really good in truck because I added an amplified subwoofer and there is no need to fade the audio. My subwoofer uses the sub signal from the stereo, so the MAESTRO doesn't effect it. Overall a good unit. Couldn't use factory amp without it. If it allowed me to fade the audio then I would have given it 5 stars.

First took about 2 hours and 2 calls to IDatalink customer service to get the box to flash. Then my installer could not get the Maestro to interface with my Mustang's SYNC system (tried every single wire), another couple hours wasted. Fortunately my installer had an extra steering wheel control unit or I would have wasted the entire day, and I get more features from my new head unit (Pioneer NEX8000) than I get from SYNCH anyways. Anyways, had to return it, 1 star for the Maestro, but as always Crutchfield service was great -- they get 5 stars.

Allowed for me to keep the steering wheel controls and Ford Sync in a 2011 Ford Focus. When adding it to the Crutchfield Cart, they claim it will retain Satellite Radio, when in fact it does not. Not a big deal for me, as I do not subscribe to sat radio, but it is misleading. I like the simplicity of programming the individual steering wheel keys, and ability to choose which OEM features to keep. I opted to not use the OEM bluetooth, and was able to switch the steering wheel buttons to integrate with the aftermarket radio bluetooth. Slight hiccup when installing, as it requires spicing in to the OEM and Sync wiring. OEM was no issue, but the wire colors going to Sync were difficult to tell apart. The grays and blues were very similar. Would have preferred a pin number on the Sync wiring harness connector. That would have saved some time spent pining over the colors. Called Crutchfield tech support to see if they had the pin numbers, but they were no help. They told me it should be obvious by the color. I would have provided the pin number here, but as tech support suggests, it should be obvious, so I won't bother.

This product is great along with the additional wire harness and It was recommended by customer service. Once received, I thought oh boy because of all the wires. But after an easy "flash" on my computer, it was pretty much idiot proof after that. The product controls my SWC just as designed on my 2008 F350 with a Jensen V7020 head unit.

Easy to hook up and use. Wired right into the radio and truck with only a little confusion with the wiring. The Stock AUX did not work with this system and had to be wired into the Radio's second Audio input. The directions were a little vague regarding this and what was required and not required. After a few phone calls it was worked out. Now, AUX is wired as an extra plug and the Audio is connected to my stock AUX. It seems to be a bypass for proper set up. Now I don't have the video in hooked up that goes with the audio in so I don't know if that causes issues if a second video player is hooked up and needs both the vid/audio to play on the unit.

What I did not like and was VERY disappointing in was the Maestro RR interface. This was supposed to give me all the original functionality of my in car unit, plus all kinds of looks into the gauges and stuff like temp and oil pressure. I also thought it was supposed to simplify the hook up of the car stereo.Don't believe ANY of that! First off, the instructions DID NOT match the unit I have. Connectors were different (changed) on the unit shipped from what the instructions show. No explanation on how to hook up the new wires. Second, I still had to solder a LOT of wires. It may have simplified SOMEWHAT the soldering, but there is still a LOT more to do. I thought this was going to be plug and play. It is NOT. I contacted iDatalink and got NO RESPONSE. Crutchfield responded quickly, but ended up saying for me to get the mic function that is built into my car, I would have to hard wire in a whole new mic... All in all this unit was a lot of broken promises and expectations...

This setup worked with my existing factory setup but needless to say if I didn't have a friend who is well versed in stereo install I would of been lost. It works though but not until after much troubleshooting with my Pioneer head unit. What frustrates me the most is that after flashing the module with my exact head unit, the module didn't work. Only after a suggestion from Crutchfield to flash the module with a generic Pioneer firmware did the box work. Why allow you to choose your specific unit if it won't work? Strange. Still missing the turn signal sound from my vehicle.

This product is a must for anyone wanting to retain the original vehicle features (such as OnStar, warning chimes, steering wheel controls, etc) with their aftermarket stereo receiver. It is actually pretty easy to install and enables you to print very detailed installation instruction (for your vehicle) from the Maestro website once you complete the required online setup (called flashing). However, don't miss the fine print. This unit can only be setup to work with you specific vehicle, via the use of a PC with internet access. You will need administrative rights to the PC you use for this so you can download the required Active-X file. No Mac computer allowed for this process.

Steering wheel controls are the only retained item for 2005 Grand Cherokee limited. Uconnect isn't a big deal but the parking sensors no longer work when the maestro is in the system. The product is sold with the belief you retain all features that were factory until you install it and then begin the task of troubleshooting only to find that for a given software download and your make/model/year that only some features work.....Painful

Firstly, both Crutchfield and iDatalink have been extremely friendly and helpful throughout all my questioning and research. However, it stops there... I've spend at least the past 3-4 days troubleshooting my so called "retained" OEM features just to find out that iDatalink's firmware, well actually the module itself, doesn't support 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee with UConnect. Granted the steering wheel, amp fader, and other audio features are supported. This still doesn't change the fact you're paying for a feature that doesn't work and sold as if it does. I spoke to a rep at iDatalink, and she apologized about the delay on the front page of their website. Crutchfield may not even be aware of this, but it's definitely something to note if you were indeed looking to keep that stuff going.

Opened box read instructions and all went well. No real complaints. Only issue was my reading of MasterSheet and the difference between using factory amp and not using. A quick 5 minute to Crutchfield and my doubts were gone ant proper harness connections were made. So far so good.

I installed this unit with a Kenwood DNX891HD in a 2006 Chrysler 300c. I couldn't find a lot of information specific to my car, so I figured I would add some notes here: 1. You can go to the iDatalink website and run a simulator for your car that will show you what will work once you program it. This was very helpful. 2. I had to call customer service because the additional harness that is necessary had been wired incorrectly for the ODBII connectors. They were very helpful and knew exactly what the problem was, and they sent me directions on how to re-pin it. 3. This does allow for gauges to show up on the 2006 300c. It also would have allowed me to keep my uconnect. I bypassed the factory amp, and you can turn the factory amp back on from within the Kenwood interface. If you bypass the factory amp, it bypasses the factory speakers, making it unnecessary to cut all of their connections when adding all new amps. You can change many of the other parameters as well. 4. Be careful if you zip tie it inside the car. The reset button protrudes out, and my zip tie got stuck over the button, causing it to continuously reset, which made my system not display.

Very nice product to retain steering wheel controls and Ford Sync for aftermarket HU's. Installed along with a Kenwood DNX691HD and so far i'm happy with the results. Installation was pretty straight forward especially since I used the vehicle specific Ford wiring harness that I purchased separately. Works very well.

It took 3 hours to flash it. It uses windows only!! Tech rep was awesome!! The controls worked but has static when you the steering wheel controls... And after a week, they dont work. The ding still works, but no response from the radio. Simply not worth taking it all apart again to send it back.

This is a must buy for GMC SIERRA. Allowed me to keep everything factory even SiriusXM. These made the installation simple. I didn't have to hunt or look for wires. I'm still able to use the steering wheel controls and was able to program them to however I wanted them. The flashing was simple and quick with their online interface.

Used to retain factory chimes, SW controls, onstar, and backup system features. Easy install into vehicle. Programming was easy with the idatalink site. I had to get use to new chime sounds but no big deal...was like driving a new vehicle.

Navigating the set up was confusing but finally figured it out. Went to the FAQ's on the web site to determine that the internet address provided for actually programming the device options was not correct, and other consumers had the same issue so I guess it was not just me. Overall a great and highly recommended product if you want to use your vehicle's external steering wheel controls. Worth the money no doubt!

Installed in my 09 Silverado with the Kenwood DNX891HD head unit. This unit work as advertised, fairly easy to flash the Maestro to match your vehicle. Just make sure you flash this little unit with the correct parameters. For example if your vehicle does not have any digital displays ie.(speedometer) then don't tell the Maestro you want gauges displayed on your radio, it locked up my radio and resetting did not even work had to disconnect battery to reset radio. Thanks to a call to Crutchfield and some trial and error got system to perform as expected.

This unit integrated my Pioneer 4000nex into my 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT8 almost perfectly. I did loose fade capabilities, because the factory amplifier only accepts inputs from the rear speakers. I also have to switch the rear with the front speaker wires in the harness to be able to hear phone calls. I wish the Maestro could compensate for this. However I was able to retain my advanced EVIC display which I am thrilled about!

It took me some time before I purchased this product. Maybe that is why I only rated it 3 stars. Advertised: purchase this product to "retain steering wheel controls and factory amp" This is not accurate at all. I should have listened to some of the lower rated reviews, but you always think some people are just upset. I had this professionally installed by a certified Kenwood Dealer along with a Kenwood 691HD head unit. The steering wheel controls do work but have been altered to do different things other than what the factory settings were. The turn signals and hazards have been altered to some annoying clank and the timing is completely off. So, basically my personal opinion: is that if I knew I would have to listen to the generic fake chimes that this unit is producing, and the controls this activates on the steering wheel, I would have never bought this thing and lost the controls and chimes. Shame on Crutchfield for what I believe is making this unit seem better that what it is and not being forth coming with the information that it is basically a toss up on the interaction at feature when properly installed.

For other people in this situation, the button assignments can be re-programmed to suit your needs. The installer could've "re-flashed" the device to change those settings for you. There's not much to be done about the sound of the chimes and turn signals, but repositioning the chime speaker might've helped decrease the delay. What's more, since you have an iDatalink compatible Kenwood receiver, in the stereo's Setup menu, you can adjust the door chime volume directly. This also might help alleviate the delay.
Use this unit in our 2014 GMC Savana Van. It was the only one that assured we retained all of our door chimes and lighs on warning signals.

If you have any kind of factory hands free/steering wheel controls, you absolutely MUST get one of these. The ease of integration and programming, plus the added features and of course retaining the factory controls and SYNC in my case, is invaluable.

This adapter works great and the customer support is awesome. I installed this in a 2006 Ram and still having problems with it not tuning my factory amp on every time. But, this thing will integrate your factory bells and whistles very nicely. It is highly customizable and seems to be very stable even in the N. Ca summer heat.

The device has numerous options with the programmable interface, but does not have any additional features over the competition in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler. Several desirable features do not work from the device despite complete, correct connections as per the instructions and correct harness (sold seperate)

Does not translate speed pulse, making problems with A/V and GPS Navigation. I installed this on a 2011 Silverado and everything worked except the Truck Bluetooth. I'm very happy with this purchase. I did not have to cut any wires on my truck.

Cons: Factory Bluetooth didn't work and I didn't like the factory sirius interface with the Kenwood. The station or title didn't show up on the screen. The only information was the channel number. I installed an aftermarket satellite tuner and it worked much better.

The idatalink Maestro worked as advertised. I had to do a little soldering and what not but no problems. Installed it and it worked. The only thing that was an inconvenience was the lack of Apple support. But luckily the neighbor came through and let me use his (PC) laptop to do the programming. Other than that, I had no problems and would recommend this product.

Great product for plug and play and allows my to view a lot of the gauges for my Silverado and see ce codes when thrown. The current model that I have does have a few annoying factors with one of the ways it gets hooked up. Whenever the blinker clicks it cuts out the front left speaker which is annoying. I found out how to turn off the alarm but other alarms from car like low gas or seatbelt also cuts off the speaker.
Pros: Can see lots of gauges from truck, very programmable.
Cons: Sound cut off is very annoying however this model is now discontinued so the replacement may have fixed that.

I bought this to integrate a Kenwood DNX691DX into my 2010 GMC Sierra XFE and while it did integrate most of the functions, missing were some of the chimes (door open for example) and reasonable integration for the OEM XM receiver. If you select the XM receiver from the main menu then you will get a message to check the receiver. You have to go to the first sub menu, select "My Sierra", then XM radio from that screen to get the XM radio to work. Very distracting while driving!! Another quirk is the chimes that do work... If you adjust the chime volume so it doesn't blast you out of the car then you cannot hear the turn signal reminder.
Pros: Makes connecting a radio to your car/truck somewhat easy and it will pass some of the vehicle's data to the radio.
Cons: Finding documentation and connection (maestro - radio - vehicle) data is difficult. iDataLink's WEB site isn't easy to navigate but with patience you will eventually find the info you need to install their device.
This is a great product. I was able to integrate the Maestro Rr with my new Kenwood DNX891 head unit and keep my Steering controls. I am able to view gages and ODBII Engine diagnostics on the Kenwood until. I was able to easily link the Kenwood until the factory Bose amplifiers / Speakers
Pros: Easy instructions for connections based on vehicle type. The firmware flashing process for vehicle was easy to follow. Nice having the ability to view vehicle info on my head until Read/Reset Check Engine Codes. I can view dash gauges. My steering wheels controls work great and can be reprogramed to accommodate different functionality.
Cons: I had to call Crutchfield connection points for reverse and parking brake as they were not provided in the harness. The Crutch filed web site said the Maestro Rr was not compatible with my 2011 Nissan Maxima even though it's fully supported by ADS Idatalink.
I'm on day 5 and the unit still does not work. I installed the Maestro RR with the suggested GM harness, a Pioneer AVIC-6000NEX, in a 2007 Chevy Avalanche. After the initial install, the steering wheel controls worked, but I could not get my dash lights to turn off, even when the vehicle was off. The speaker output was almost nonexistent and the amp turn on was blowing fuses. After several hours of going over the wiring, and in fear of blowing up my amp and head unit, I put the install on hold. I called IDATA in the morning and the tech told me that the pink and white wire was seated incorrectly on their harness. I removed the wire and put it into the correct pin placement. The tech also told me to remove the "blockers "(an inline series of caps) from the speaker wire. These steps seemed to do the trick. However, after about 5 minutes the volume began to increase and decrease all on its own. I had to turn the volume down manually. Then the steering wheel controls ceased to work at all. I called tech support again and they told me that I needed to solder a 47 ohm resister on the red wire of the control plug. I performed that task. The volume still has a mind of its own and the steering wheel controls do not respond. I'm not certain what they will suggest next. I'm incredibly frustrated. IDATA seems to desire to place blame on Pioneer. I have three letters for you, if you are planning a Pioneer head unit install with the Maestro, PAC.

Normally, the MRR does not require this kind of headache. We're reviewing this application and will document things accordingly so the next Avalanche owner knows what to expect.

Great product. Installation was a pain but keep your cool and you'll get through it. Glad I got it from Crutchfield, because they have awesome tech support. The product does exactly what it says. Make sure you buy the maestro wiring harness for your vehicle (sold separately).

Seems to work great. Here's my problem. I'm an enlightened Mac user. It's all I use. I pay extra because their products work. I have a several years old iMac. Works like a boss. I have three iBooks. Awesome. iPods, iPhones... All of my friends are enlightened Mac users. I get this thing in the mail and it not only requires a PC to flash software for my application, IT REQUIRES INTERNET EXPLORER! Ok, maybe you use PC's, you're forgiven. Do you honestly have the latest version of internet Explorer? You will, if you buy this product. I was not happy when I had to start calling people asking if anyone would mind me using their PC's so that I could install my new sound system.

Cons: It only works with PC and Windows Explorer 7 or higher. Plus you have to install a third party software to flash the thing.
It worked after I called and got another one sent. Flashing the module on my 08 GMC required me to turn off turn signal click in order for it to not shut off all the speakers on the left side of my truck when the turn signal was on. If you have a GM and use this good luck.
