About the iDatalink K150 Dash and Wiring Kit

Bob Bihlmayer

Put a new radio in your F-150

Your 2013-14 Ford F-150 with its 4.3" "My Ford" screen is a great truck, but the console makes it tough to upgrade the factory radio. This iDatalink K150 dash and wiring kit allows you to install an aftermarket double-DIN (4" tall) receiver in the dash panel. The kit is a perfect match for the color, texture, and contours of your dash, and features climate controls with a factory look. You'll get a convenient pocket with flush-mounted HDMI, auxiliary, and USB inputs that connect to your new radio.

Module required for this installation

You'll need the Maestro ADS-MRR module (not included) to complete this installation and retain your steering wheel audio controls. The K150 comes with simple plug-in connectors for the Maestro adapter and your F-150's factory wiring harness.

Retained features

With any car stereo, this package retains your factory amplifier (if equipped) and your backup camera. Install an iDatalink-compatible car stereo from Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony, and you'll also retain your truck's SYNC features, including hands-free calling and music streaming.

With an iDatalink-compatible receiver, you'll be able to use your receiver's touchscreen to check your tire pressure, battery voltage, and "door ajar" warnings. You'll also be able to choose which gauges you'd like to appear on the screen, and you'll even be able to check the engine codes when a warning light comes on.

Features

Ford F150 OEM Integration Dash Kit & Vehicle Harness: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-F150 consists of an OEM integration dash kit and vehicle harness designed specifically for 2013-2014 Ford F150's equipped with the 4.3-inch "My Ford" factory radio. The KIT-F150 lets you replace the "My Ford" factory radio of your 2013-2014 Ford F150 with an iDatalink Serial Port compatible head unit or other aftermarket head unit using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module (sold separately).

  • Click here for a list of compatible Ford vehicles.
  • Click here for a list of compatible aftermarket radios with an iDatalink Serial Port.
Note: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-F150 requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately) and the download of a vehicle specific firmware from iDatalink's Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac).

Head Unit Connection: The KIT-F150 supports iDatalink's Direct T-Harnesses (sold separately) for direct connection to select iDatalink Serial Port compatible head units (including Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer radios) - replacing the wiring harness that comes with your aftermarket stereo (some hardwiring may still be required). If connecting to an aftermarket head unit that does not support an iDatalink Direct T-Harness, you'll need to cut off and remove the 20-pin black connector from the KIT-F150's harness and splice each wire directly to the aftermarket radio's corresponding wire.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR or RR2 with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

OEM Grade Fit & Finish Kit: The KIT-F150 OEM integration kit features a factory grade fit & finish to match the contour and color of your vehicle's dash. The kit features integrated, customizable climate control buttons. In addition, the dash kit provides recessed-mounted dual USB ports (one USB-A and one USB-C), one HDMI input, and one Aux 3.5mm input for your head unit (if applicable).

Retained Features: The follow factory features (if applicable) are retained when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer, or Sony using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and KIT-F150 installation kit.

  • Ford Sync: Retains the Ford Sync system; including Bluetooth hands-free communication and audio streaming, as well as USB media player.
  • Factory Amplifier: Retains factory amplifier with amplifier turn-on, fader, DSP settings, and gain adjustment.
  • Climate Display & Control: Climate display and control can be done through the aftermarket radio's touchscreen monitor. Climate control buttons and dials are also found on the dash kit.
  • Steering Wheel Controls: Retains factory steering wheel controls with standard or expanded radio functions, plus two functions on each button.
  • Advance Camera Features: Factory backup camera is retained with parking guidelines with visual park assist. The factory 360 camera is also retained for cargo bed and trailer hitch viewing. If you add an aftermarket front camera (sold separately) to your idatalink compatible head unit that is equipped with multiple camera inputs, the vehicle's factory auto camera switching feature is also retained.
  • Secondary Vehicle Display: Secondary vehicle display is retained (if factory equipped) with internal navigation information.

Note: When installing an aftermarket head unit without the iDatalink Serial Port, only steering wheel control and amplifier turn-on on are retained.

Extra Features: The following Extra features are added when replacing your aftermarket head unit with a compatible iDatalink Serial Port head unit from Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Sony, or Alpine using the Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module and KIT-F150 installation kit.

  • Vehicle Info: Tire Pressure Display, Battery Voltage Display, Read/Reset Engine Codes, and Door Open Status with Warning.
  • Gauges: Selectable Performance Gauges, "Track Pack" Gauges, and Read/Reset Check Engine Codes.

Outputs: The KIT-F150 provides Navigation, Accessory Power, and Illumination Outputs to make installation simpler.

  • Navigation: Parking Brake, Reverse Light, and VSS (Vehicle Speed Sense).

Customer Q&A

Q
I have gone through 3 of these and the installer keeps replacing them when the temperature controls stop working. Any advice?
chris  Feb 13, 2024
1 answer
A
We are always here to help, Chris. Maestro includes 2 different cables for the connection of this kit to the aftermarket radio. If the wrong cable is used the HVAC controls will not work. I would first make certain that the red 4-pin cable provided is connected to your Maestro module. If you continue having issues with the replacements, I would contact us directly on our Technical Support team with your order number handy and we can assist in troubleshooting. We provide lifetime Technical Support for all products purchased from Crutchfield and would be happy to help!

Q
What are the dimensions of the pocket in the kit?
robert  Sep 17, 2023
1 answer
A
Internal dimensions on the storage pocket are not listed, Robert. This pocket would be very similar in size to a "DIN-style" universal pocket with dimensions listed in the reference link below. There is no way for us to determine the exact size in the iDatalink pocket, but the pocket measurements provided for the universal option below should be a good way to estimate if you need to determine whether your phone or other planned gear will fit. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_003UPK750/Universal-DIN-Pocket.html

Q
Will need the iDatalink Connec HRN-RR-FO2 if I purchase this?
maulder  Oct 15, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Maulder, and thank you for your question. The vehicle specific harness is included with the K150 dash kit recommended for the 2013-2014 F series pickups. What you need additionally is the Maestro RR, or RR2 programmable modules. Part numbers 794ADSMRR, or 794ADSMRR2. Both are compatible, the RR2 has more features.

Q
Why do you have to plug it in to OBD? Does it stay plugged in? What happens if you take it in to get serviced and gets unplugged to run diagnostics?
pascual  Feb 24, 2022
1 answer
A
It uses the obd port for some of the vehicle communication features depending on the radio you choose it can display engine data on the screen it does not have to stay connected and if the vehicle has to go in for service it will just be unplugged so they can do there work and then plugged back in
harley  Feb 24, 2022

Q
I flashed this to work with my truck and with my new radio but the hazard lights do not work now. How would I fix this?
chris  Aug 11, 2021
1 answer
A
I am not sure what you mean by (flashed) but if you're hazards do not work now you may need to go to someone that can access the trucks computer and see if the hazards were possibly disabled when it was flashed. A Ford dealer can access the different modules and turn features on and off. Hope this helps

Yes, but it will not be an exact fit and make sure you buy the module for the aftermarket radio to plug into the vehicle or it will not work
brett  Feb 20, 2019

If your Truck has the 4" screen this will work perfect. I have it in my 2014 F150 and it looks factory. Great product

Does your heater controls look like those controls, if so it will fit
scott  Feb 16, 2019

It fit my 2014 f150 xlt screw like a glove. Not sure of differences in limited. I also bought the module to keep steering controls and factory sync functioning. When matched with a stereo that supports its perfect.

Q
How do you get the USB's built in to the dash to not push in when you try to plug something in?
ejn  Jan 11, 2019
4 answers
A
I installed mine almost a year ago, but I don't remember having any trouble clicking the USB ports in place and they do not "push in" when I plug something into them - they remain firmly fixed to the dash kit. One of them has my 64 GB music drive always plugged firmly into it. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
david  Jan 12, 2019
A
I have not had that problem. I plugged in all the harnesses and all works as it should.
clyde  Jan 11, 2019

Sounds like you got a faulty one.
christopher  Jan 11, 2019

what happens to the little 4.2 screen where the factory radio diplayed ?
robert  Jun 16, 2017

The 4.2" screen is removed. The head unit that you install will be your display. Also, you may be able to pick up a few new OEM features like tire pressure display and additional guages.

It is removed.

You take it out.
bryan  Jun 17, 2017
A
You remove it and replace it with a double din unit.
nicholas  Jun 17, 2017
A
Gone. This replaces that
nicholas j  Jun 17, 2017
A
It comes out as a unit. The large screen then takes the place of that smaller one.
ronald j  Jun 17, 2017
A
This replaces that screen entirely. When I installed mine with a kenwood 5902 double din I retained all the functions that the 4" screen had using the idata link meastro module and wiring harness. You can maintain sync but I honestly disabled sync 2 months after because it was laggy.

They move to the group of buttons with the climate control. If you zoom in to the picture you can see the hazard button is the bottom left and the passenger airbag is on the bottom right.
