Best of all, you'll retain the use of your steering wheel audio controls, climate controls, and the Ford SYNC™ system, plus add some very cool features along the way.

Made for your Mustang

You've got your heart set on a new touchscreen GPS receiver, but you really want to keep your Mustang's dash looking good. Now, iDatalink's KIT-MUS1 factory integration package (along with their Maestro RR adapter, sold separately) gives you everything to need to install an iDatalink-ready car stereo in your dash and wire it up to your Mustang. Best of all, you'll retain the use of your steering wheel audio controls, climate controls, and the Ford SYNC™ system, plus add some very cool features along the way.

A fit in the dash

iDatalink's KIT-MUS1 integration adapter includes a dash console that matches the fit and finish of your Mustang's dash. You'll retain the use of your Mustang's LCD display, which provides song and title information, station information, and caller ID for hands-free calling with Bluetooth®. You can operate your climate controls from your receiver's touchscreen and the customizable buttons built into the iDatalink dash console. This kit also includes two integrated USB ports that work with your receiver.

Wire it up

First, you connect the iDatalink Maestro RR adapter to your PC using its included USB cable, visit www.idatalinkmaestro.com/plugin and follow the instructions. Once you've indicated you're using the KIT-MUS1 kit and the Maestro RR has been "flashed," you're ready for the installation. Next, you'll either solder or crimp the wiring adapter that's included in this package to your new receiver's wiring, just like you would with any wiring harness or wiring adapter from Crutchfield.

The KIT-MUS1 integration adapter comes with simple plug-in connectors for the iDatalink Maestro RR adapter and your Mustang's factory wiring harness. You'll also get a mono subwoofer RCA connection which directly plugs into the subwoofer channel of your Mustang's amplifier. With Mustangs that don't have the SYNC™ system, you can use the adapter's AUX IN RCA connectors to link the Mustang's factory auxiliary input to an auxiliary input on your receiver.

The coolest part

Once you've installed the new receiver in your Mustang, you'll be able to use your receiver's touchscreen to check your tire pressure, battery voltage, and "door ajar" warnings. You'll also be able to choose which gauges you'd like to appear on the screen, and you'll even be able to check the engine codes when a warning light comes on.

Compatibility Notes: The iDatalink KIT-MUS1 factory integration adapter must be used with the iDatalink Maestro RR adapter and an iDatalink-ready car stereo (sold separately). This adapter is only compatible with 2010-2014 Mustangs without the factory navigation radio.

Features

Ford Mustang OEM Integration Dash Kit & Vehicle Harness: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-MUS1 consists of an OEM integration dash kit and vehicle harness designed specifically for the 2012-2014 Ford Mustang equipped with a factory non-navigation radio (including Shaker systems). In combination with the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 Car Radio Replacement Interface module (sold separately), the KIT-MUS1 lets you replace the factory non-navigation radio of your 2010-2014 Ford Mustang with an aftermarket Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Sony, or Pioneer receiver equipped with the iDatalink Serial Port.

  • Vehicle Compatibility: Click here for a list of compatible Mustang vehicles.
  • Radio Compatibility: Click here for a list of compatible aftermarket radios with an iDatalink Serial Port.
Note: The iDatalink Maestro KIT-MUS1 requires the purchase of the iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 (sold separately) and the download of a vehicle specific firmware from iDatalink's Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac).

Head Unit Connection: The KIT-MMUS1 supports iDatalink's Direct T-Harnesses (sold separately) for direct connection to select iDatalink Serial Port compatible head units (including Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, Sony, and Pioneer radios) - replacing the wiring harness that comes with your aftermarket stereo (some hardwiring may still be required). If connecting to an aftermarket head unit that does not support an iDatalink Direct T-Harness, you'll need to cut off and remove the 20-pin black connector from the KIT-MUS1's harness and splice each wire directly to the aftermarket radio's corresponding wire.

Flashing Module via Weblink Desktop: The iDatalink Maestro RR or RR2 will need to be loaded with correct firmware before installation. The included USB cable plugs into your computer and allows you to "flash" the Maestro RR with the appropriate firmware to prepare it for installation. Simply download Weblink Desktop (for Windows and Mac) onto your computer to access the appropriate firmware. System requirements include -

  • Windows PC (10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP/2000) or Mac OS X (Mojave [10.14], HighSierra [10.13], Sierra [10.12], El-Capitan [10.11])
  • Available USB port (version 2.0 or 3.0)
  • 4GB RAM or more
  • 200MB available space on HDD
  • Internet connection

The kit also features integrated, customizable climate control buttons and lets you adjust your climate controls from your compatible Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Sony, or Pioneer head unit's touchscreen. In addition, the KIT-MUS1 OEM integration dash kit comes with a convenient pocket for storage. Q
Will this unit support heated seats?
thomas  May 30, 2022
1 answer
A
When used in conjunction with and iDatalink ready radio, and the appropriate Maestro modules and harnesses (sold separately), this kit does support the retention of heated seats if your vehicle is equipped. :) You can check to see if this will fit your vehicle by using our Outfit My Car tool: http://www.crutchfield.com/car/carselector.aspx For additional details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
Are all climate functions retained with this, and how do I program for the buttons I choose?
jeff  Jan 16, 2022
5 answers
A
Yes, climate control works via the compatible head unit. Also, programming the physical buttons and steering wheel are programmed with a usb and computer.
gregory  Jan 17, 2022
A
All the climate buttons will be visible on your new stereo's touch screen. In the picture you will see the 'Climate' (quick access) button. Pressing this will switch the display to the climate control screen. You will get a bag filled with 'quick access' buttons and you can choose which ones to have. You will program the buttons during the iDatalink setup (when you have it connected to a PC). Choose your buttons carefully as you don't want to have to pull it all out later, just to change and reprogram different buttons. In reality you will need the 'Climate' and 'Rear Defrost' buttons so that just leaves 3 to choose.
chris  Jan 17, 2022
A
Yes, all functions are retained on the on the climate control screen. The control module is programmed through a website and plugging into your computer. It is very easy to do with step by step instructions. You choose which buttons you want and in what order. The online program functions ties functionality to button location, including the steering wheel. 2 years later and I've my install kit.
matthew  Jan 17, 2022
A
Yes you do retain all functions, however you will need to purchase the maestro box and that will allow you to program the buttons you choose.
ronnie  Jan 17, 2022
A
It does not retain the current selection for temp or fan speed. You always have to re-select those. When the buttons are placed in the bezel, with the idata link, it will always know where the buttons are. I just use my Kenwood headunit to control all that thou, if i turn on the unit.
anthony  Jan 17, 2022
Q
If there is not ODM2 connector, how can I connect to the vehicles computer to have the diagnostics appear on the radio screen?
andrew  Mar 16, 2021
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
What is the size of the cutout for the radio? What is the largest aftermarket screen size that I can get?
garrett  Dec 08, 2020
2 answers
A
The Cut out is essentially a Double DIN in the Mustang Kit. It comes with a new Dash Bezel, an assortment of buttons for you to select what functions you want to control with a physical button vs the on screen display, a open storage slot underneath the radio cutout with two USB ports and the factory integration adapter that fits underneath a storage area. You will need to program the adapter and buttons. On mine I had the sync system with steering wheel controls and to was not particularly easy to get everything tidied up fitting in the dash
brent  Dec 09, 2020
A
The screen opening is approximately 6.75" wide by 4"tall and about 7.75" diagonally. I'm running a Pioneer AVIC-W8500NEX that I picked up on Crutchfield and it fits perfectly. If you want the largest screen possible, you might want to look for tablet interfaces.

A
I believe it only comes in gray from idatalink for the mustangs. I got mine a few years ago for a 2014 . I don't know what year you have. There might even be other companies that offer one in black. If not You might be able to paint it or even get it wrapped black.

Q

scotty  Dec 27, 2018

A
I connected my phone via BT using the head unit function.

Q
does this keep the sync functions? like on the steering wheel when you press the voice command button
bryce  Jul 04, 2018
1 answer
A
It sure can! There is a wire that must be spliced from this kit to the stock wiring to make it happen. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101
jason  Jul 11, 2018 (Staff)
Q
This kit retains the green single DIN display at the top, correct? Can anyone tell me if the clock and radio/song info are synchronized with the touchscreen unit that is installed? In other words, if I change to time on the touchscreen, does it automatically change at the top?
shannon  Dec 15, 2017
5 answers
A
I installed a 'Pioneer AVH-2550NEX' and had no problems with top display. The time does sync with the head unit, and it displays information like source, track, station, etc.
chris  Jan 17, 2022
A
I used a Kenwood head unit in mine and it did. When playing something it would show source and song title (for example, "Bluetooth" or "USB").
brian  Dec 15, 2017
A
Yes, Yes and YES! It's awesome. The more expensive Scosche verson just says "mustang GT" or "V6 Mustang" when it's playing - so annoying. But this beauty will display the song name and artist when you're on MP3s and it'll show the date and time on start up. In other words, it works the way Ford always intended the screen to work stock.
kendall  Dec 15, 2017
A
Yes, it's synchronized
dillon  Dec 15, 2017
A
Yes they are connected and do sync with each other.
john  Dec 15, 2017

nicholas  Apr 02, 2017

Yes. Not sure about dimming but they do turn on/off with the dash lights.
