Track makes for the smoothest of moves

Portable and expandable, SkateTrack comes in four-foot assemblies that break down to a form that can easily fit in a backpack, making this one of the easiest-to-transport track systems available today. These twin rails with outrigger legs provide the smooth, stable surface upon which any of Cinetics' V wheel dollies ride. Additional SkateTrack sections can be added to expand your movement range.

Why Cinetics?

Smooth moving shots are one of the primary building blocks of fine motion picture production. They put us into the scene on the screen, because they mirror how we experience the world. Our bodies act as a big shock-absorber for our eyes, plus our brain does internal image-stabilization along the way. So it's no wonder we like stable, even moving shots in our on-screen entertainment and no surprise that we can feel distracted by shaky handheld footage. A tripod often isn't enough for convincing movement, because it can only help for shots where your camera stays in one place. And moving the camera does more than make the experience seem real; it makes your camera a character, a participant, a narrator.

So consider what Cinetics gear can bring to the table for your next video project. Whether it's a simple home movie, a film school exercise, or a full-blown professional production, good camera mounting can make a world of difference in how your audience will experience what you've captured.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i'm new at this, but it is an awesome product, works as described. love the portability and flexibility of the track system and with the rest of the cinetics line, makes for an affordable, professional glide system.

Pros: easy to set up, break down, smooth glide, sturdy

Cons: with the rest of the cinemoco motor, cannot do 90 degree verticle slide shots, or steep incline

Product Research

Overview: The Cinetics SkateTrack is a 4' long rail assembly that provides a smooth stable surface for a Cinetics CineMoco system, or a SkateTrack with V-wheels. It includes four 24" long rails, three Rail Connectors, and two Outrigger Legs. The Rail Connectors hold the rails securely 180mm apart. Additional rails and Rail Connectors can be purchased, and fitted together end-to-end to make longer sections, if needed. The SkateTrack is made of anodized aircraft-grade aluminum, and easily disassembles and folds for convenient storage in the provided pouches.

Outrigger Legs: The included Outrigger Legs are adjustable so you can set up the SkateTrack in almost any environment. They screw onto the Rail Connectors, and provide a stable lift for the SkateTrack.

Solid, portable track system for Cinetics dollies

Written by Zak Billmeier, Staff Writer - Creative, on 9/27/2013 10:46:00 AM

I used these tracks in conjunction with the Cinemoco time-lapse computer and the SkatePlate. They are lightweight and strong, and you can break them down into two-foot segments so they're super easy to carry. Cinetics includes a handy carrying bag.

The included legs are great, too, because you can easily level the tracks on uneven ground. I was able to level them on a roof while shooting a time lapse video, and I found it helpful to carry around a small level while shooting.

You can also mount these tracks on a pair of tripods if you need them up higher. For a film crew on a budget, they're great tracks.
