Product Research

The Equalizer Rearview Mirror Removal Tool (for Ford type-2 mirrors): Spring latch rearview mirrors, such as the Ford Type 2, have become common on many vehicles. A small spring clip located inside the mirror base is pressed down as it slides onto the windshield button mount. When properly seated this spring latches into place and locks the mirror to the mount. This spring is very difficult to release because it's hidden inside the mirror base, which is against the inside windshield glass. Our removal tool compresses the spring so the mirror can slide up off of the mirror mount. Just place the tool against the glass at the bottom of the mirror base and push the tool up into the opening. It compresses the spring clip and allows you to slide the mirror up off of the mount button. (The mount "button" is a block of metal permanently attached to the inside windshield glass.)

Note: The tool is made of high impact plastic.
