Product Research

Overview: The BoraGear hole saw, made by Bahco, is a 4-1/2" (114mm) diameter heavy duty hole saw for cutting an opening in an equipment cabinet for installing one of the BoraGear cooling fans. The hole saw comes assembled, and includes the round saw blade, a pin-type arbor with a 7/16" drive shaft, and a 1/4" drill bit.

Sandflex Bi-metal Hole Saw: The Bahco Sandflex bi-metal hole saw works excellently on most materials, including wood, plastics, non-ferrous and ferrous steel, including stainless steel. It has 4/6 teeth per inch, and a maximum cutting depth of 1-1/2". Four knockout holes allow you to easily remove the cores, once the hole is cut.

Operating Speeds: The speed (RPMs) of the drill depends upon the material being cut. For this 4-1/2" diameter hole saw, the following speeds are recommended:

  • Mild Steel: 75 RPM
  • Tool and Stainless Steels: 35 RPM
  • Cast Iron: 50 RPM
  • Brass: 100 RPM
  • Aluminum: 105 RPM
  • Wood: 900 RPM

Precautions: The following precautions should be followed:

  • Always wear safety goggles.
  • Cutting oil should be used when sawing steel. (Do NOT use cutting oil when sawing cast iron.)
  • Cutting pressure should be high so each tooth cuts deep.
  • Apply the hole saw perpendicular to the workpiece.
