Paradigm BD1

Overview

Our take on the Paradigm BD1

Use this compact adapter with your Paradigm A2 powered speakers, or any sound system with a minijack input, for convenient wireless audio playback with Bluetooth-enabled devices. Listen to music from your laptop or tablet computer on your home audio system while you surf the web, or enjoy your favorite MP3 tunes from your Bluetooth-enabled cell phone. You won't need to physically connect either device to your speakers, thanks to the BD1's 33-foot wireless range. The BD1 can be powered up by plugging the included AC adapter into the A2 speaker's back-panel convenience outlet for a clean, hideaway setup. A built-in rechargeable battery even allows it to operate if there's no AC outlet handy.

Disappointed

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This device was difficult to sync with my iPad and it turned off automatically in a short period of time.

Pros: None, that I could tell!

Cons: Did not conform to standards!

Works as advertised. Maybe expensive

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

5 starts for working well. But it seems overpriced for what it is. Many competitors are much lower priced--including one that looks exactly like the BD1--which made me suspicious that it may have been the same product relabeled. Hopefully not. I paired it with my iphone6+ which has retired my ipod. It worked great.

Pros: works great

Cons: high priced

Awesome!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Use this to Bluetooth my IPod to my dune buggy radio. Works great in sandy and hot conditions!

Pros: Ease of use

Cons: Red light hard to see in sunshine

Almost perfect

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have only been using this for 2 days now - but here is my initial assessment. Out of the box, this was very easy to install. The receiver was quickly recognized by both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. My MacBook sits about 3 feet away, and the sound quality and clarity is quite good, plugged into a Class-T amp which is driving Paradigm Micro Monitors. Just what I needed for my office system. Quite pleased thus far. As the other review said, have to re-sync every time, which knocks the rating just a bit. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.

Pros: Ease of Use Sound Quality

Cons: Have to re-sync

Works but doesn't automatically connect

Device works well and sound is great. I bought two units. I would give it 5 stars but neither my iphone or Samsung Galaxy automatically connect to the device after being paired. Instead, each time you want to listen to music you need to press and hold the button on the device for about 6 seconds to put it into discovery mode and then the device connects with your smartphone and works great until you leave the room and return - then you need to manually initiate the connection again.

Features

Overview: The Paradigm Shift BD1 is a universal Bluetooth Receiver (v2.1) which allows you to wirelessly stream music from your Bluetooth-enabled device to the A2 powered speaker (819A2BKASH, sold separately) or any other home audio system which features a minijack (3.5mm) input. The Paradigm Shift BD1 Bluetooth Receiver lets you stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device supporting A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) or AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile). This includes the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry smartphones; as well as other Bluetooth enabled devices such as your computer, laptop, or tablet.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Paradigm Shift BD1.

3.5mm Connector: The BD1 Bluetooth Receiver connects to the Paradigm Shift A2 powered speakers rear-panel 3.5mm input. It can also be connected to a 3.5mm audio input on any home audio component.

Rechargeable Battery: The Paradigm Shift BD1 Bluetooth Receiver features an integrated Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery (250mAH). The built-in battery has a battery life of up to 12 hours (operating time) or 230 hours (standby time).

Battery Charger: The BD1's integrated Lithium-Polymer battery can be recharged using the included AC power adapter. This AC power adapter can be plugged directly into the Paradigm Shift A2's auxiliary AC input, or into an AC wall outlet when connected to a home audio component other than the A2 powered speaker. A 48" USB charging cable is also included, which allows  you to charge the built-in battery from a free USB (type-A) port on your computer or laptop.

Q & A

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The Paradigm BD1 receives Bluetooth from a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, but it won't transmit audio to a Bluetooth speaker. You could potentially use the Sony HWS-BTA2W Bluetooth Audio Adapter in "Transmitter Mode" to wirelessly send audio from your receiver/amplifier into a Bluetooth speaker. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Sep 11, 2015 ]  Staff
