Great sound

Very good ear buds, neutral sound quality with solid middles. The interchangeable ear pieces attach in a solid fashion. I have some more expensive earbuds from a competitor(Rhymes with nose) They don't sound as good and the ear pieces fall off the unit.

Pros: Great for the price. I can not bring myself to pay much more for earbuds.

Cons: Still earbuds.

I was really impressed with these headphones. Sound quality is great especially in the mid-range. The lack of bass can be adjusted with proper ear slips. I changed one to the smaller size and have much better bass together with surprisingly good noise reduction. The build quality is outstanding and a free pouch is very convenient to keep my iPod shuffle together with headphones.

This Paradigm product truly does not disappoint. Every sound is pure, detail and clear, same as with the Bass (it has a very deep real bass sound with a true hard punch). Overall, well tuned just as their other speaker products.

Historically, I haven't been a big earbud user, but I recently decided to start using them and picked up the Paradigm Shift E1's. At first, I wasn't getting enough bass and had to use a bass boost to help (listening mostly to jazz on a BlackBerry Torch). However, after a couple weeks, the earbuds seemed to really warm up. I turned the bass boost off and now get plenty. They sound great!

I confess I don't have much to compare them to, but I have no complaints about the sound coming out of these. I get a little too much thumping distortion sound from the cord movement, but I usually use while sitting, so no big deal.

If you want any low end frequencies, you need to boost them drastically on your equalizer.

Pros: Comfortable. The cable cord seems to be nice quality.

Cons: You have to insert the ear buds "upside-down" (that is, from the way you intuitively would) , otherwise they sound very tinny.

Product Research

Paradigm Shift In-Ear Headphone Design: The Paradigm Shift series in-ear headphones are the result of thirty years of sound research and product development. Paradigm's unique understanding of what makes a speaker sound great in a listening room is applied to the design of their in-ear headphones. Paradigm uses sophisticated measurement tools and proprietary algorithms while accounting for the psycho-acoustic effects of the ear structure in developing its design. This allows Paradigm to faithfully reproduce the performance of Paradigm's freestanding loudspeakers in an in-ear headphone.

E1 In-Ear Headphones: The Paradigm Shift E1 in-ear headphones are voiced matched to Paradigm's Monitor Series speakers. They employ a single 8mm super-neodymium driver in each earphone. These in-ear headphones deliver the full audio spectrum with unbelievable clarity and perfect tonal balance.

Multiple Ear Tips: The Paradigm Shift E1 in-ear headphones come with 3 size of silicone ear tips (s/m/l) to ensure a tailored fit that further maximizes overall sound quality and comfort.

Tangle Resistant Cable: The Paradigm Shift E1 in-ear headphones feature a tangle-resistant, cloth exterior cable terminated by a gold-plated 3.5mm connector for excellent signal transfer.

Carrying Pouch: The included carrying pouch helps to protect the in-ear headphones during storage and transport.

Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs

Amazing performance

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 8/20/2012 4:06:00 PM

When I try out headphones in the Crutchfield Labs, I adjust my expectations to the price of the product. I don't expect headphones priced at $49 to perform at the same level as those priced at $499. So I was pleasantly surprised by the audio quality of the E1 headphones.

The bass was nice and tight, and really seemed to reach far down into the lower register. The mids and highs came through clean and clear. Overall the sound was finely detailed, and had a fullness I seldom experience with in-ear headphones — especially at this price. The E1s are among the best in-ears I've auditioned in quite a while.
