My favorite in ear headphones

These are my favorites. I own around 20 different brands of earbuds and out of all of them (including- LSTN, sennheiser, hifiman, etc) These have the most balanced and clean sound, comfortable fit of all of them. The flatness of the earbud itself make them great for laying around or sleeping. I don't feel them at all.

Pros: Great design Clean, strong sound Decent price Excellent value

Cons: The only negitive thing I can say about these is that the cord of the right side earbud developed a 'snag' in the fabric covering and has exposed about a three inch section of the white plastic that contains the wiring. It is probably just a one in a thousand kind of occurrence and hasn't caused any change to the sound, so to me it's not that big of a deal. I would buy these again even with the one negitive.

Pretty good

Bought these for my wife. I was not all that impressed although they are pretty good sounding, they do not seem very well built but time will tell. I just don't like them as much as the Bose ie2 in ear phones which I greatly prefer for both sound and apparent build quality. In any case they were for my wife and she likes them very much, so this purchase was a success.

Pros: nice sound quality, in ear, easy to pack

Cons: not as good sounding or soundstage as others, in my opinion.

Coming from a person who had paradigm speakers throughout house and loves them.....Build quality is solid however brings issues w comfort....Housing has sharp edges if you are moving around at all or any strain on cord housing digs into ear. I use for commute on train/walking was unbearable. Noise reduction was pretty decent. On to the important thing sound. If you are a basshead these may be for you. For the standard listener these are WAY to unbalanced and they bleed like a stuck pig right into mids. Read more detailed reviews from professionals but beware. Lastly and I did not count this against paradigm in review but the mic had a loose connection in it and headphones would "skip" when it tapped against my zipper on jacket. I returned and bought hifiman re 262 and they are 50x better.

I am impressed. the comfort level and sound quality is by far the best i have heard. i can only say that for the price, it beats Bose, B&W's and all other imitations. These earbuds make listening to music fun again. i can hear so much more and the sound evenly balanced. hands down I would recommend these to anyone looking to enjoy their music better than before. The B&W's are very good, but heavy and uncomfortable after only a couple of songs. The sound quality is still great, but again for the price and comfort the paradigm shift e3 are my favorite.

Pros: Comfort, cord is not a rubber or a plastic (This is huge for me) It helps make the cord last longer and will not melt or break off exposing the wires.

Product Research

Paradigm Shift In-Ear Headphone Design: The Paradigm Shift series in-ear headphones are the result of thirty years of sound research and product development. Paradigm's unique understanding of what makes a speaker sound great in a listening room is applied to the design of their in-ear headphones. Paradigm uses sophisticated measurement tools and proprietary algorithms while accounting for the psycho-acoustic effects of the ear structure in developing its design. This allows Paradigm to faithfully reproduce the performance of Paradigm's freestanding loudspeakers in an in-ear headphone.

E3m In-Ear Headphones: The Paradigm Shift E3m in-ear headphones are voice matched to Paradigm's Monitor Series speakers. They employ a single 8mm super-neodymium driver in each earphone. These in-ear headphones deliver the full audio spectrum with unbelievable clarity, extended bass response, and perfect tonal balance.

Multiple Ear Tips: The Paradigm Shift E3m in-ear headphones come with 3 size of silicone ear tips (s/m/l) to ensure a tailored fit that further maximizes overall sound quality and comfort.

In-Line Remote + Mic: The in-line remote gives you Play/Pause control for your music and answer/end control for your phone calls from various manufacturers of smartphones. The integrated omni-directional microphone lets you carry on your side of the conversation, while listening to the caller's voice through the earphones. The in-line remote + mic also supports voice control for hands-free music playback and communication (device also must support this function).

Tangle Resistant Cable: The Paradigm Shift E3m in-ear headphones feature a tangle-resistant, cloth exterior cable terminated by a gold-plated 3.5mm connector for excellent signal transfer.

Carrying Case: The included carrying case helps to protect the in-ear headphones during storage and transport.

Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs

Small and simple

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 7/22/2013 3:55:00 PM

I really liked the shape of the earbuds. They're contoured to fit snugly in the ear, and form a much more effective seal than earbuds that are basically cylinders. With the sleeves also filling the ear canal, I basically had two seals between the outer world and my eardrums. Ambient sounds were virtually eliminated — which meant I could listen at much lower volumes than I usually need to with in-ear headphones.

And the E3m's delivered at those lower volumes. My music sounded full and detailed, with a nice bass presence. And for bass-heavy genres like rap and dance, the low-end kicked without becoming muddy — even at higher volume levels. Great headphones for on-the-go listening.
