Unwind with warm analog sound

If you've never experienced the warm and natural sound that vinyl is famous for, the MMF-2.2 is a great place to start. This solidly built Music Hall turntable makes an excellent choice for seasoned audiophiles and vinyl newcomers alike who want to get outstanding sound quality without spending a fortune. Music Hall's minimalist design philosophy focuses on the features that benefit sonic performance — no unnecessary bells and whistles here. With its simple, elegant appearance and high-gloss piano black lacquer finish, this table will look and sound fantastic atop your audio rack.

High-quality construction for top-notch performance

The MMF-2.2's sturdy MDF chassis rests on vibration damping rubber feet that provide a solid, low-resonance foundation. Its heavy steel alloy platter spins on a high-precision stainless steel and bronze bearing assembly for excellent speed stability and smooth, silent rotation. The motor mount and belt drive system effectively isolate the motor's vibration from the chassis to prevent noise from being transferred to the cartridge. An external AC power supply helps further reduce any traces of interference or hum. Finally, the table's rigid, one-piece aluminum alloy tonearm provides superb tracking ability to faithfully follow the grooves of your albums, and includes a silicone-damped lift for gently raising and lowering the arm — protecting both the stylus and your records.

Quick and easy to assemble

Music Hall knows that turntable setup can be a challenge for the novice. That's why the MMF-2.2 comes out of the box virtually ready to play. Its pre-matched, factory-mounted phono cartridge and tonearm take the guesswork out of installation, and give you optimized sound quality with minimal effort. A few simple steps to dial in key settings like tracking force, anti-skating, and platter speed are all it takes to get this player primed and ready to deliver spacious, detailed music.

Buy This Turntable!

Written By Stove, Bel Air, Maryland on Saturday, June 13, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this as a scratch and dent and nearly returned it. The needle was bent and I couldn't find all the parts at first. But I got everything straighten out and replaced the OM-10 stylus that comes with the MAGIC 2 cartridge with an OM-20 and I couldn't be happier. Had I received the deck with the Tracker cart., I would have replaced it anyway and spent much more money than I did for the OM-20. I also replaced the felt mat with a cork mat. If you're on the fence about an entry level TT or spending a little more for the next step up, definitely spend the extra $100 or so because it is worth it . In my case I was replacing a dept store Pioneer that I bought 20 years ago.I have a lot of vinyl from the the 70's and 80's that I took care of and nearly all of it sounds amazing. Now I see why people say vinyl sounds better. I bought a nice NAD cd player earlier in the year and the TT does sound a few ticks better. Even if your records are not the in the best of shape, the improvement in sound will more than make up for it. The realism, the attacks of the notes, the timbre of the instruments, and the space between them makes for an very enjoyable listening experience.

Pros: I read a review where someone said that the cuing wasn't damped, but mine is. The upgrade to the Magic 2 cartridge (made by Ortofon) is BIG plus because the stylus can be upgraded. Never got to hear the OM-10, but loving the OM-20! So long as you like the cartridge, you may never need to replace it. Great value for the money. Easy to set up.

Cons: I get a slight mechanical vibration (I guess) which seems to vary from one record to the next, and sometimes I don't hear it all. I don't know if it's from the deck, the motor, or maybe even electrical in nature, but it is very slight when I can hear it and not really a nuisance being that I listen open air. Maybe it's just another level of surface noise I haven't been able to notice before. Some would probably not like the hardwired audio cables, but they are fine for me.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Elegantly simple with great sound! I bought this turntable to replace a 10-year old D.J. style table that developed pitch control problems. I shopped with several specific features in mind. First, I didn't need all the switches, slide controls and lights my previous record player had. I just wanted to play LPs at 33-1/3 on a quality turntable that didn't cost $1,000.00. I also looked for one with belt drive to isolate the motor from the platter. The DC motor with separate AC power adapter design of the MMF-2.2 virtually eliminates any extraneous noise, like 60Hz hum. All I hear is what the stylus and cartridge pick up from my vinyl collection. Also, at 17lbs, the turntable is solid and stable. Setup was fairly straight-forward. Just need to be cautious around the business end of the tone arm. The anti-skate device is sheer genius.

Love the pure, rich sound!

Pros: Audiophile sound, well designed, good looking, solid.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first received a my Music Hall MMF-2.2 turntable, it had a serious hum in the right channel. After making sure the problem was not caused by improper set up or a faulty ground I called Crutchfield support and was quickly shipped a product and given a return authorization for the defective unit. When the second unit arrived it set up perfectly and I was playing my old vinyl from the 70s in no time. Problems will arise from time to time, but Crutchfield did a fine job of making sure I was satisfied in a timely manner.

Pros: Great Service! Beautiful sounding product.

Cons: Defective product the first time out. Alls well in the end though!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am 53 and became an ardent classic rock listener in the mid 70's. Vinyl records were my favorite medium and amassed a large record collection. I contiuned listening to vinyl throught the 80"s up until the advent of CDs. I was reluctant to switch to CD, but like most people I was intriqued with something new. So I turned to CDs, sold my turntable at a garage sale and gave away all my records. Thankfully, I did keep my Sansui stereo receiver.

About five years ago, while visiting a local CD store, I noticed used vinyl records for sale. I looked through the records for sale and began to reminiace. At that point, I thought how great it would be to start listening and collecting albums. I still had my receiver but I needed a turnatable so I bought an inexpensive turntable and began collecting records. As my records collection began to grow, I decided to upgrade my turntable.

After reviewing as much information available, I decided to purchase the MMF 2.2 because it fit my price range and was supposed to have quality sound The MMF 2.2 was easy to setup and took about 30 minutes after carefully following the user's maunal. After completing the setup, my first impression before playing a record was Music Hall's "minimalist design philosphy" was accurate. This is a basic turntable with no frills. The sound quality of this turntable is amazing. The sound was crisp and clear. I played the song "Royal Scam" by Stealy Dan and could hear every instrument. Clearly amazing.

Pros: Amazing sound quality and easy setup
