It's small, simple, and sounds way bigger than it looks. That's the Beacon Audio Blazar portable powered speaker. If you have room for a coffee mug on your desk, then you have room for the Blazar. Pair it wirelessly to your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device, and you're ready to party. The Blazar has two full-range drivers that team up with a down-firing passive radiator for clear, full sound spread out in a 360° area.

You can actually connect 2 Blazars together wirelessly, and assign the left and right signals to the 2 Blazars to create true stereo sound.

Good companion on a long road trip

Written by: Steve from Andover, MA on October 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased this as a companion on a lengthy road trip as an upgrade to the poor quality speakers in the cr and a way to use bluetooth with the phone. I have enjoyed the acoustic and compact size of the speaker and its portability. I highly recommend it for its value and versatility. While the controls on the top are not very precise it still is functional for volume control and advancing music. If you can get by with a single speaker system this works well in a car. I purchased two for two cars and think the stereo pairing is a better option .

Pros: Excellent value and versatility

Cons: Controls on top not very precise.

Nice, but could be louder

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I already was a happy owner of the Beacon Phoenix. I was looking for an upgrade -- namely something a little louder and with more bass. From what I read, the Blazar seemed like the ideal choice.

Sound quality is very good. There is noticeably more bass than the Phoenix, but I could use more. It's certainly not bass heavy. (I just got it, so maybe it will open up more). As for volume, it gives me what I need indoors, but I need more when I'm outdoors. I don't have a large backyard, and with a just a few friends over it doesn't quite do the job.

Pros: Design, compact size, and overall sound quality

Cons: Volume

As advertised

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Performs as described and advertised. Was looking for a high quality, simple bluetooth speaker to put on the deck while dining during summer evenings. Fits the purpose perfectly. Sounds is quite full for the size of the unit (which is about the size of a big coffee cup). Bass sound is decent (again, given the size), but it is not deep. I would like a deeper bass given the use outdoors, but it is adequate, and the range more than makes up for the slight shortcoming at the lower end. Bluetooth connectivity performs as expected, although my iPad and iPhones don't connect automatically as one would expect (as they do with the BT in my car). Only a minor annoyance.

Pros: Small packaging that delivers a fairly big sound.

Cons: Lack of auto connect bluetooth.

Awesome Little Speaker.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this speaker after looking at a few reviews and when I got I took it on a trip to Italy with us. It worked perfect! No problems. The case that it comes with protected it great. And most of all amazed at the sound that comes out of that little speaker!

Pros: Love it!

Cons: None

Blazar blows my mind

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I first heard the Blazar on my friends' kitchen counter I could not believe what I was hearing and insisted on knowing where the sub woofer was hiding. Unbelievably it was all packed into this beautiful cube emitting the sound in front of me. Needless to say, I ordered one immediately from Crutchfield and the rest is aural history. I highly, highly, highly recommend the Blazar. You will not believe your ears when you hear it. Oh, by the way, I am getting another one soon.

Pros: Beautiful Sound, deep bass, very smooth over the frequency spectrum, great casing

Cons: That I don't own several more of them.

  • Bluetooth Audio Streaming:  The Beacon Blazar supports A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile). You can wirelessly stream music from your Bluetooth-enabled iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, laptop/computer, or other device to the Phoenix Bluetooth speaker. It even allows you to control Play/Pause & Next/Previous Track functions of your Bluetooth-enabled device. You'll be able to listen to stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled device through the Beacon Blazar.

Dual Stereo Pairing: Not only can you connect two Blazars together wirelessly via Bluetooth, but you can separate the Left and Right signal between the two Blazars for true stereo sound.

Aux Input/Analog Output: The Blazar by Beacon is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting an external audio source which features an audio or headphone output. The Blazar is also equipped with a 3.5mm analog output for daisy-chaining an additional powered speaker with a Aux input.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

very displeased with speaker loud if you are in a 10x10 room but that's about it I thought by reading the reviews this was a great speaker I was at a local store today and they had a ar for 99.00 and it will put this speaker to shame I will never trust the reviews from here again. [ LISA  May 12, 2014 ]
Thanks for the info. I did order one for use on my Lanai and will order a second if it works well. [ MURF  May 11, 2014 ]
I don't know the output wattage but two of them are sufficient for a large room. They both output the same volume. I use mine as speakers to link to my iPad in a vacation home so I don't need a separate hi if system.. [ David  May 10, 2014 ]
