About the BOOM Swimmer

Ralph Graves

The waterproof speaker that really can go anywhere

The BOOM Swimmer is not afraid of the water. This durable little Bluetooth speaker can be immersed to a depth of 3 feet for up to 20 minutes, and it plays music wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet, or other Bluetooth-compatible device. Use it anywhere there's a chance of getting soaked — poolside, in the shower, on the slopes (but don't take it scuba diving). Not only is the Swimmer waterproof, but its rugged casing is also shock-resistant and dust-resistant, too. Perfect for a day at the beach.

Use the Swimmer's flexible tail to mount it just about anywhere.

Flexible tail for endless mounting options

The Swimmer's flexible tail means you can mount the speaker just about anywhere. Twist it around a pole, loop it around a shower head, or around handlebars — and lots more.

Lose the tail, add more bass

The tail is detachable, so you can just set the Swimmer upright on a flat surface. The Swimmer also comes with a suction cup. Just screw it into the back and pop in on the wall. And here's a bonus: the wall reinforces the low tones. You'll notice stronger bass when the Swimmer's wall-mounted.

Convenient charging

The built-in battery lasts for up to eight hours of continuous use. Its USB charging cable can either be connected to its AC power adapter, or plugged directly into your computer for easy charging.

Features

Bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP: The Boom Swimmer is a portable Bluetooth speaker which lets you listen to stored music and music apps wirelessly streamed from your Bluetooth-enabled device, such as your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, or computer/laptop. The Boom Swimmer supports Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP for wireless audio streaming and control. Basic playback controls include Volume up/down, Play/Pause, and Track Forward/Reverse. This speaker pairs with your Bluetooth-enabled device with a single press of a button. Once paired, the Boom Swimmer will automatically re-connect with your device when in wireless range (up to 33').

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Boom Swimmer.

Water, Dust, & Shock Proof: The Boom Swimmer is IPX7 rated, meaning it can be immersed in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes with its tail on. Feel free to take it with you in the pool, the ocean, or even the shower. It is also dust and shock proof for extra durability.

Full-Range Speaker: The Boom Swimmer waterproof Bluetooth speaker employs a single full-range speaker powered by a built-in amplifier for surprisingly big sound from such a small speaker.

Multiple Mounting Options: On the back of the Swimmer is a flexible tail, that can be looped, twisted or snaked for endless mounting possibilities. You can also unscrew the Swimmer's tail and screw in the included suction-cup, so you can attach the Bluetooth speaker to any flat surface.

Aux Input: The Boom Swimmer is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting almost any portable audio device with a headphone output. The speaker's flexible tail must be removed to access the aux input.

Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery: The Boom Swimmer waterproof Bluetooth speaker is powered by a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery that gives you 8 hours of playback at maximum volume, or 16 hours at half volume. The Swimmer features a micro-USB (type-B) port and comes with a 48" USB charging cable so you can charge the speaker's Lithium-ion battery via a free USB (type-A) port on your computer/laptop or a USB/AC power adapter (sold separately). Completely recharging the battery takes approximately 2 hours. The speaker's flexible tail must be removed to access the micro-USB charging port.

I have no idea how many "watts" it is. I bought for my daughter. She uses it at home/work and when she is riding her bike. She says she really likes it. Several of the girls at the hair salon she works at have also bought.

I purchased this for my daughter who loves to sing in the shower and she did enjoy it but doesn't use it now because the O ring between at the end of the speaker keeps coming out. To answer your question she said that it does not shut off when not being used. Hope this helps.

Q
If I use the suction cup, is it still waterproof? It says on the manual in tiny letters: **waterproof: IPX7 ONLY when tail element is attached So i'm worried that if i use the suction cup mount, it won't be waterproof.
leona  Jul 07, 2015

A
There is a o-ring gasket on the speaker itself. It's waterproof with the suction cup too. I use it in the shower that way. Dropped in a tub that way too. If neither is screwed on the USB band Aux input only have a rubber flap that is best described as splash resistant.
chad  Jul 08, 2015
A
I have use it for the shower, with both attachments and work great, it's been over a year and still working great
alejandro  Jul 08, 2015
A
I have had no problems with the suction cup while using outside when it has rained
michael  Jul 07, 2015
A
I Use it in the shower with suction cup not sure if it covered by warranty but works great just make sure to get it to suction good likes to fall off if not attached well
kyle  Jul 07, 2015
A
No it is not water tight with the suction cup attached. You can see as you apply the suction cup that it does not create a tight seal on the rear of the speaker. However, if the speaker will not be submerged or make dorect contact with water it can still be used around water without concern. For example, I have not experienced any issues from steam exposure from a shower or anything like that.
tanner  Jul 07, 2015
A
No suction cup. The tail is a separate section that is screwed in to hide the charging area. I have mine hanging off the shower head. Tail is flexable so you can hang it anywhere . You only unscrew to re-charge. Wrap it around shower head or shower curtain rod.
william b  Jul 07, 2015
A
I have had a boom swimmer for 2 years now. I don't think you really sit around listening to music in the rain but that's just me. The suction cup really doesn't get used much because the tail is so versatile and it sounds great regardless. The suction cup does provide a little more bass when put on a glass top but that's really the only advantage. And it's really not waterproof it's water resistent because it's not supposed to be submerged.
kris  Jul 07, 2015
Q
Can you use multiple swimmers at once to get a surround sound effect?
jill  May 20, 2015

A
We only have 1 so I am not sure.
bradley  May 22, 2015
A
Sorry i have not tried multiple speakers .Only own one. Speaker is good for small room and great for a bathroom/shower. Connecting to multiple speakers at once would depend on your device and you probably would want to go to a bigger speaker for better sound output.
william b  May 21, 2015
A
I am afraid I only have one and cannot try it,I would imagine that you could not do as you asked.Best guess
michael  May 21, 2015
A
Assuming your device can stream to multiple devices you'll get sound from both. The sound will be the same sound though. No actual surround affect and no tethering for stereo between multiple speakers. I know on my cell phone it makes you pick which BT device to send audio to. So theoretically maybe, but its not a specific design of the Boom Swimmer.
chad  May 21, 2015
A
No, you can not
tanner  May 21, 2015
Q
If you were using it in the shower, can you physically adjust the volume at the speaker?
shayne  Jun 18, 2014
13 answers
A
Shayne B, yes you can use any button on the swimmer while in the shower, it has your basic volume up, volume down, song skip functions. Till now the only problem is that the plastic inside the tail of my swimmer broke but other than that, this swimmer can pack a punch. Definitely amazing sound.
fabian  Jun 21, 2014
A
Yes
john  Jun 20, 2014
A
Yes there is a simple adjustment on the device for the volume also a power, pause & bluetooth sync button. I use mlne in the shower everyday.
william b  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes, however this does not adjust the volume on your phone if that's what it's paired to. You can also skip songs by holding the volume plus button down for a few seconds.
jeremy  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes. There are two buttons ( + and -) for volume control.
elizabeth  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes, volume is adjustable by clicking the + or - buttons on the speaker.
richard  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes you can, it has a power button, bluetooth sync button and volume up and down button on the speaker. It will only sync with one device at a time, so if you have more than one device, you have to resync a new device, it only remembers the last one you used, the last one you used yiu can use repeatedly without re-synching
obeid  Jun 19, 2014
A
The speaker has volume buttons (+ & -) on the side, so you can adjust the volume as needed. BTW, this is a GREAT SPEAKER, that produces very nice sound!! Enjoy!
sean  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes the speaker can be adjusted at the speaker while in the shower. We love this speaker and plan on buying a couple more.
gary  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes u can, however, it is not synced with the bluetooth decive. So just know that the volumes are separate. I typically turn the volume up high on one device and control the actual sound from the other device depending on which way you plan to use it. So in that case u would just use the speaker to actually control the sound. Hope that answers your question
tanner  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes. There are + and - buttons on the side of the speaker as well as the bluetooth and power buttons.
david  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes you can adjust the volume.
ashley  Jun 19, 2014
A
Yes, there are volume controls on speaker.
