Speakers with precision clarity and depth
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
It's hard to believe these are bookshelf speakers. They have an expansive realistic sound. I listen primarily to chamber, keyboard music, and jazz - forms of music I consider acid tests of a speakers ability to produce detailed sound. I'm a very critical listener and have multiple recordings of the same pieces of classical music. I differentiate between subtle nuances in musical performances. So, when I say these are outstanding speakers, know you are reading the opinion of a very critical listener. Piano pieces are generated the clear sound manifest to the nature of that instrument - something I have rarely heard in any sound system - and string quartets are given natural, highly defined instrumental separation and coloration. The treble and mid -range of these Martin Logan bookshelf speakers is exceptional. I find the bass response perfectly adequate for the music I listen to, but if you'd require a deeper or more resounding bass response you can always add separate woofer.
Pros: Their clearly articulated natural sound, and their extraordinary treble and mid-range. They're currently moderately priced, and they have the same specs. their replacement, the MartinLogan Motion® LX15.
Cons: None really, except an apprehension that I may scratch their stunning black piano finish.
