Overview: The HomeMonitor outdoor camera, made by Y-Cam Solutions, is a network-connected security camera that allows you to monitor what's happening around the exterior of your home using an internet-enabled computer or your smartphone. It is equipped with a wide angle lens, infrared LEDs that allow you to monitor in the dark, and a microphone. It sets up in minutes, and because HomeMonitor is network-compatible, you can monitor at home or away from home.

Video Camera: HomeMonitor has a wide-angle lens with a viewing angle of 50° horizontal and 40° vertical. The 310,000-pixel 1/4" CMOS image sensor outputs a video signal with 640 x 480 resolution at 30 frames per second. The built-in microphone picks up any sound in the vicinity. Surrounding the lens are 12 large infrared LEDs that provide a viewing distance of up to 15 meters (49 feet) in total darkness. The camera includes a sunshield, and is waterproof to IP66 standard.

Network Connection: You can connect HomeMonitor to your home network, either with Wi-Fi or plugged into your router with the supplied network cable. You will need to connect the camera to your router for the initial setup, even if you plan on using it wirelessly. HomeMonitor will work with HomePlug/Powerline technologies, so you can use it in areas in the home where Wi-Fi isn't available.

High Speed Internet: HomeMonitor will work with virtually all forms of high-speed internet, including Broadband, ADSL, DSL, Cable, FiOS, and if you have a suitable router, 3G and 4G. A minimum upload speed of 256kbps and 0.2Mb per second per camera is recommended. Download speed will only matter when watching or downloading from the HomeMonitor portal.

Smartphone Compatible: There are apps available for iOS (5.1 and higher), Android (2.3.1 and higher), and Roku. You can access HomeMonitor with your smartphone, tablet, or SmartTV. In addition, you can turn the camera on or off, control recording and notification email settings, or watch recorded clips or live video and audio over Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G. Archived clips stored on your iOS device can also be transferred for viewing on your Apple TV via Airplay.

Online Account: Once you have connected the camera to power and your home network, you will need to set up a free personal online account (no subscription required). The camera records audio and video automatically to your your own secure account in the cloud. An unlimited number of clips is stored on your account for 7 days at no charge. You can access your account from anywhere on your PC or smartphone. You can add multiple cameras, including cameras at different locations, onto the same account.

Motion Detection Alerts: When HomeMonitor detects motion, it triggers recording, and, if desired, can send you an email alert. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detector to prevent false alerts caused by active pets or children, moving cars or headlights, sunlight, or reflections of light.

Mounting: HomeMonitor comes with a versatile mounting bracket that allows you to mount the unit on a shelf or mount it to a wall. It can also be inverted and mounted under the eaves of your house. Once the monitor is mounted, you can adjust the camera angle and tighten the ball joint to lock it into position.
