When word spread through the Crutchfield offices that we were bringing in Westone headphones, it definitely generated some buzz. Why the interest? Well, many of our crew moonlight as musicians, and in the pro audio world, Westone's name stands out.
The Colorado-based company builds in-ear monitors with stellar performance and top-notch noise isolation. Their UM Pro10 headphones use a single balanced-armature driver that smoothly delivers natural sound with a wide-frequency range. They particularly excel in the mid range, where most music lives.
Built for live sound
Things get loud on-stage, and it's crucial to be able to focus on your specific instrument or vocal. Westone has spent decades making custom in-ear monitors so professional musicians can do just that. They've used that knowledge to create the UM series of universal earpieces, which provide terrific noise isolation for live music events and church worship services. With the ten included eartip options — five foam and five silicone — you should find a comfortable, secure fit that can block out up to 25dB of external noise while providing clear, detailed sound.
Detachable, wrap-around cable
These earbuds may be lightweight, but the included cable is heavyduty. It's a thin yet durable braided cord that detaches from the earpieces. Coil the stiff top part of the cable around your ear for a snug fit. This keeps the cord out of your way as you perform and stops sound from escaping and being picked up by live mics.

Overview: The Westone UM Pro 10 in-ear monitors are built in Colorado Springs, CO for musicians. Equipped with high-performance balanced-armature, full-range drivers, the UM Pro 10s deliver clear, detailed sound. Ten pairs of ear tips in assorted sizes and materials provide comfort for all-day wear.
Balanced Armature Drivers: The UM Pro 10 headphones are equipped with balanced armature drivers, which are smaller and more efficient than traditional dynamic drivers. Westone combines multiple balanced armature drivers with sophisticated crossover networks to provide enhanced detail and extended frequency range.
EPIC Cable: The UM Pro 10 has a 50" replaceable braided EPIC cable, made of bifurcated, high-flex, ultra-low resistance tensile wire, and reinforced with a special aramid fiber. The proprietary audiophile connector allows you to easily replace the cable, if necessary.
True-Fit Technology: Five pairs of patented STAR Silicone Tips and five pairs of True-Fit Foam Tips are included with the headphones. The Up & Over cable routing helps keep the ear buds in the proper place and prevents the headphones from falling out. The STAR Silicone Tips and the True-Fit Foam Tips come in five sizes each, ensuring a superior fit and maximum comfort. With a proper fit, these in-ear headphones shut out external sounds, boasting a 25dB passive noise attenuation. For convenience, a wax removal tool is included to keep your ear tips clean and working at top efficiency.
Mini-monitor Vault: The UM Pro 10 in-ear monitors come with a waterproof mini-monitor vault to help store and protect your headphones and spare ear tips. The case has two loops that enable you to attach it to a backpack strap or belt loop with a carabiner or other device (not included).

These earphones are use by the pros for monitoring music but are great for personal use with an MP3 player or hi res player. Sound is sharp and clear and ambient noise is controlled well. Good quality at a comfortable price.
