It's all thanks to Westone's quad-driver design. Each earpiece features four balanced-armature drivers and an advanced crossover network. The result is a huge frequency range that's rarely heard from headphones so small.
Impressive sound isolation from the in-ear pros
Sometimes, it's nice to shut out the world and listen to your tunes. Just like Westone's professional monitors isolate noise so musicians can stay focused during live performances, their W-series earbuds help reduce everyday intrusions like the clanks of the train or a co-worker's tuneless whistling.
With ten sets of included eartips — five foam and five silicone — you should be able to find a comfortable, secure fit that can block out up to 25dB of external noise. A tight seal also helps you get the clearest sound.
Two detachable cables and removable faceplates
You get two wrap-around-the-ear cables with the W40. One is braided and extra-durable. The other includes a rubberized three-button remote that gives you convenient iPhone® control. A built-in microphone also lets you take calls. Three sets of interchangeable faceplates let you change up the color whenever you feel like it.

Overview: The Westone W40 in-ear headphones are built using the same advanced technology as the iconic ES series. The W40s deliver clear detailed sound from the Quad Driver design. Ten pairs of ear tips in assorted sizes and materials provide maximum comfort for all-day wear. In addition, you get two interchangeable cables, including one with an in-line remote/microphone for music and phone call control.
Quad Drivers: The W40s are equipped with Quad Drivers (four balanced armature drivers with a 3-way crossover network) for high fidelity sound. These super-efficient in-ear headphones (118dB sensitivity) deliver more power and control than traditional dynamic drivers. Because the drivers are smaller, the ear buds fit snugly into your ear for comfort and in-ear coupling for best sound quality.
Two Cables: The W40 comes with a 55" MFI G2 cable with a 3-button remote control and microphone. The remote is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch for volume, tracking, phone answer/end, and Siri activation. Some functionality with other smartphones is possible. In addition, a 50" braided EPIC cable is included. The EPIC cable is made of bifurcated, high-flex, ultra-low resistance tensile wire, and reinforced with a special aramid fiber. The EPIC cable contains no remote or microphone. The proprietary audiophile connector on the ear buds allows you to easily exchange the cables whenever you like.
True-Fit Technology: Five pairs of patented STAR Silicone Tips and five pairs of True-Fit Foam Tips are included with the headphones. The Up & Over cable routing found on both cables helps keep the ear buds in the proper place and prevents the headphones from falling out. The STAR Silicone Tips and the True-Fit Foam Tips come in five sizes each, ensuring a superior fit and maximum comfort. With a proper fit, these in-ear headphones shut out external sounds, boasting a 25dB passive noise attenuation. For convenience, a wax removal tool is included to keep your ear tips clean and working at top efficiency.
Exchangeable Faceplates: The W40s include three pairs of interchangeable faceplates: black (installed on the ear buds out of the box), blue, and red. Each faceplate has the W40 logo on one side and the L or R designation to indicate the proper channels. A special tool is required to remove and attach the faceplates, and is included in the box.
Monitor Vault: The Westone W40 in-ear headphones come with a waterproof monitor vault to help store and protect your headphones, tools, and spare ear tips. The case has two loops that enable you to attach it to a backpack strap or belt loop with a carabiner or other device (not included).
