Never bounce your camera on your chest again

The BlackRapid Curve can be worn under or over a jacket.

The BlackRapid Curve can be worn under or over a jacket.

Once you experience the simplicity and elegance of a BlackRapid camera strap, you'll never, ever want to go back to the old neck or shoulder strap your camera came with again. BlackRapid camera straps are designed to help your cameras hang in a logical location, upside down and down by your hip. Simply screw the FR-3 FastenR screw/washer hand-tight to your camera's tripod mount hole, then use the included ConnectR carabiner that's attached to your strap as a lever to securely tighten the FastnerR. Now you can grab a camera by its gripping surface, glide it up along the strap's surface, and have it ready to shoot in under a second. BlackRapid straps can be worn with backpacks or under a jacket, and the included bumpers quickly slide and snap into place to restrict your camera's movement when you're running, climbing, or otherwise being active.

The Curve is BlackRapid's simplest yet most versatile strap. The ergonomically designed curved shoulder pad is designed to stay put on your left shoulder, so the strap stays optimized for gripping your camera with your right hand. Trick out your Curve strap by adding extra accessory storage with the "Joey" bags, or make it even more reliable and secure with the Brad or Buck modifications.

Product Highlights:

  • strap sits on shoulder so you can carry your camera at the ready upside down by your hip
  • logical placement means having your camera ready to shoot in a second
  • included FastenR and ConnectR hardware provide secure, gliding connection to the strap
  • easy-locking "bumpers" restrict camera movement when you're active

OK not Great

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not worth the retail price but a ok buy at the sales price. High quality materials but it is a relatively expensive camera sling. Carrying the camera upside down takes some getting used to but I kind of like it now.

Pros: Well constructed and high quality materials

Cons: Not as comfortable as expected when carrying camera with larger lens

2nd one!

This was a gift for a friend. I own one myself and love it! I have carpal tunnel syndrome & this strap took away my struggle w/ache & pain. I like that it's at my hip when I want to shoot & don't have to reach into my bag anymore. The only thing I don't like is that I can't easily switch from strap to tripod but it's not a huge deal.

Pros: Comfortable, convenient & secure

Cons: Have to take it off to use tripod (unless an adaptor is used)

Great Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great idea and very useful. However it's a bit more difficult walking with this configuration

Pros: Very handy to retrieve your camera from your side

Cons: make walking a bit difficult with the camera banging into your side

Was skeptical at first but after taking some long walks the Black Rapid performs well. No more neck strain and the camera comes up smoothly and is placed nicely at arms reach.

Nice camera strap

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The BlackRapid curve camera strap is an excellent replacement strap for the generic, branded camera strap. With this strap the camera sits off to the side just below the waist (adjustable), and when you want to take a picture, you bring the camera up to eye level as the carabiner clip slides up the strap. Awesome design, and very well made, too.

Pros: Ease of use, design, quality materials

Cons: Price

Product Research

Overview: The BlackRapid Curve (RS-7) is a simple sling camera strap. The shoulder pad has a slight curve that ergonomically fits over the left shoulder for added comfort. The Curve is compatible with the MOD-series of accessory pockets and supports.

Sling Strap: The sling strap concept makes it easy to carry your camera by your side, and quickly bring it up to the shooting position. When not in use, the camera hangs upside down at your hip. A threaded FastenR screws into the camera's tripod socket, and is held secure with a rubber washer. The locking ConnectR on the sling strap clips onto the camera via the FastenR, allowing it to glide up and down the strap. Two adjustable locking bumpers on the strap will limit the range of the camera's gliding motion.

Materials: The Curve's pad is made of Ballistic Nylon on the top, with a 1/2-inch thick polyurethane foam pad with Knitted mesh. The sling strap is 1" wide and the length can be adjusted to nearly 63". The strap includes a zinc alloy ConnectR (CR-2) and a black nickel-coated stainless steel FastenR (FR-3).

MOD-Compatible: The Curve is equipped with a loop on the pad for adding the Joey 1, Joey 2, and Joey 3 clip-on storage pouches. For large users, the Bert extension strap clips on to give you an additional 15" of length. If you need extra security, the Buck buckle covers help deter would-be thieves from unbuckling the strap and stealing your gear.

Perhaps my favorite camera accessory

Written by Woody Sherman, A/V Writer, on 11/7/2013 3:38:00 PM

Ever since I got the BlackRapid Curve camera strap, I've been telling people about it. My wife has actually asked me to stop talking about it, but the other day I caught her telling a friend who's a photographer about it too. Yes, it's that cool.

Essentially, BlackRapid has redefined the act of carrying one's camera. The Curve sits on your right shoulder, and the strap goes across your body. Cleverly designed hardware slides easily up and down the strap's webbing, and a combination of carabiner and tastener hooks into the bottom of your camera at the tripod mount.

Two securing "bumpers" keep the camera from moving much if you're really active, but for me the design is so elegant that I left the bumpers unrestricted during a 3 hour hike and never found my camera to be in the way. Plus, the camera hangs out by my right side, ready to be grabbed by its grip and brought to a ready-to-shoot position in less than a second.

Get this strap. It will change your photographic life. You won't believe how comfortable it is not to be carrying your camera around your neck or by the wrist strap. Plus, your camera is actually more secure and out of danger when sitting by your side.
