About the AKG C535 EB
Professional grade performance
Professional grade performance
AKG designed their C535 EB condenser microphone to handle the most demanding vocal recordings and live performances — and it has. The C535 EB is regularly used by professional recording studios and touring acts. The microphone delivers transparent, extraordinarily accurate sound reproduction from lead vocals and solo acoustic instruments.
Professional grade build quality
The C535 EB features a high-quality transducer in an elastic suspension. This virtually eliminates noise from handling and cable shifting from being transmitted. The extremely thin diaphragm is ultra-responsive, able to pick up the most subtle sounds.
The microphone is housed in a durable metal body with a steel mesh front grille that holds up to rough handling. The grille contains a foam lining to negate pops and wind noise. For live concert use, all controls can be disabled easily so settings can't be changed accidentally.

Features
Overview: The AKG C535 EB Cardioid Condenser microphone is designed for live performances, especially hand-held vocals. It is also ideal for acoustic guitar, percussion, and wind instruments. The switchable low-cut filter and pre-attenuation pad let you tailor its output to different uses. Its all-metal construction can withstand the rigors of live performance for years. The mic comes with an SA61 stand adapter, thread adapter, and a zippered storage pouch.
Polar Pattern: The C535 EB has a cardioid polar pattern that is more sensitive to sounds directly in front of the element. This pattern helps control feedback, and reduces the pickup of unwanted sounds from the sides and back.
Phantom Power: This condenser microphone requires phantom power of 9-52 V DC / 2.5mA.
Mode Switch: The C535 EB's mode switch lets you change the microphone's frequency response and sensitivity, based on the situation. The 4-way slide switch is recessed into the shaft of the microphone to prevent accidental adjustments, and requires a small screwdriver to set the desired position. The four positions include:
- 0dB/Flat: The microphone's output is un-attenuated and the frequency response is flat. The maximum SPL (sound pressure level) is 130dB.
- 0dB/Bass Cut: The output is un-attenuated, with the 100 Hz bass cut filter activated (12dB/octave). This is best for mainly instrumental recordings, and reducing unwanted low-frequency noise or feedback.
- -14dB/Flat: The mic's output is attenuated by -14dB, and the frequency response is flat. The maximum SPL is 144dB, ideal for recording high sound level instruments, or preventing the overloading of a mixer or amplifier input which is set for dynamic microphones.
- -14dB/Bass Rolloff: The mic's output is attenuated by -14dB, with the 500 Hz bass rolloff filter activated (4dB/octave). Applications for this setting include mainly vocals, and suppressing the proximity effect. It can also be used for instrumental recording and other close-miking situations.
Mounting: The C535 EB comes with an SA61 stand adapter, which tilts approximately 110°. The adapter has 5/8"-27 threads, and comes with a metal thread adapter, so you can mount it to stands with 3/8"-16 threads.
