About the JBL LSR308
History meets innovation
History meets innovation
JBL approached the design of the LSR308 with new ears, but they built the monitors on solid, proven technology. Each speaker matches an 8" long-throw woofer with a 1" damped woven composite Neodymium tweeter to reproduce powerful transients and microdynamics in your mix. JBL's LSR Linear Spatial Reference design criteria requires seventy-two measurements yielding more than 1,200 times more data, enabling JBL to engineer a speaker that ‘sounds right' in any working space. The patented Slip Stream™ bass port uses a double-flared shape for greater low-frequency extension and less internal turbulence. That's crucial when you need to hear accurate low tones from the 8" woofer.
JBL's 8" 2-way LSR308 powered monitor provides big-time sound in a compact design.
Built to deliver accurate sound — and to last
Separate 56-watt Class D amplifiers drive the woofer and tweeter, so highs, mids and lows are delivered with dynamic accuracy for even the most demanding production styles. Durable balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors ensure that pure, high-quality signal flows from the source to your ears. Just using quality materials and sturdy craftsmanship isn't enough for the engineers at JBL. Before each speaker leaves the factory it must pass a torture test: playing at full output for 100 hours without failure. And each is backed by a five-year warranty. Rest assured: your LSR308 monitors will deliver years of reliable, responsive performance.
A high-tech pedigree
JBL has been building speakers for over 65 years, and they continue to push boundaries in pursuit of great sound. Their Linear Spatial Reference (LSR) design process measures output in a field 360 degrees around the speaker and engineers the entire system to ensure accurate off-axis response. They also adapted the Image Control Waveguide from JBL's flagship M2 Master Reference Monitor to the compact design of the LSR308. That means you're getting the best mix, and the truest sound possible, no matter where you're sitting.
You're in charge of what you hear
In your studio, you're the boss. The LSR308 allows you to fine-tune the sound to fit your room's acoustics and your personal preferences. Boost or cut frequency response as needed with separate three-position low- and high-frequency trim switches. A -10 dB/+4 dB sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect high output professional gear without any danger of input overload.
It's your mix. JBL has gone to great lengths to make sure you hear what you need to hear when you're sitting in the sweet spot.

Features
Two-Way Design: The JBL LSR305 powered studio monitor employs a two-way driver design with an 8" long-throw woofer and a 1" soft-dome Neodymium tweeter. These drivers deliver impressive deep bass and smooth high frequency response beyond the range of human hearing.
Image Control Waveguide: The studio monitor's 1" soft-dome tweeter is coupled to JBL's Image Control Wave Guide. The patent-pending design of the Image Control Waveguide precisely controls the sound emanating from the speaker in the vertical and horizontal planes ensuring the presentation at the listening position is neutral and accurate.
Slip Stream Port Design: The LSR305 features a bass reflex enclosure with a unique rear-firing port. JBL's Patented Slip Stream low frequency port design works in concert with the woofer to produce deep bass response at all playback levels. The double-flared shape of the port is precisely engineered for greater low-frequency extension and reduced turbulence.
Class D Amplification: Two efficient 56W Class D Amplifiers (one for the lows, the other for the highs) provide abundant power to deliver the output and dynamic headroom needed for the most demanding production styles.
Balanced Inputs: Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs give you the options you need to connect the powered studio monitor to any signal source while maintaining professional signal quality.
Select Input Sensitivity: The -10 dB/+4 dB sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect the LSR305 to high output professional gear without any danger of input overload.
LF (Low Frequency)/HF (High Frequency) Trim: Trim switches for both the Low and High Frequencies give you excellent control over the studio monitor speaker's sound in your type of application and room environment. Use these switches fine-tune the amount of bass and treble you hear to compensate for room acoustics, program material, and your personal taste.

I am using them as Computer speakers to my Laptop with iso acoustics stands, and a Dragonfly DAC w/jitterbug attached. The Sound is what I consider Full Range and play as loud as I want. These JBL's are nice and clear fed with 24/96k High Definition FLAC files. No grilles on these units.
