The PreSonus Music Creation Suite is a complete recording solution for classrooms or labs.

Turn your classroom computer into a recording station with the PreSonus Music Creation Suite. Capture song ideas or create a podcast while learning the basics of recording and production. This versatile bundle makes a helpful teaching aid for a school, music lab, church, or even at home.

A simple USB connection from the PreSonus AudioBox™ interface to your Mac® or PC gets you started — there's even software on-board for mixing and editing.

Here's what you get:

  • AudioBox USB recording interface: An interface with the right number of connections for a student or someone just starting out. The front panel has two combination mic/instrument inputs. You can plug in the included M7 mic and add another mic or an electric guitar. On the back, there's a MIDI input for the included keyboard.
  • Studio One® Artist 2 Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software: Easy-to-use music production software that lets you tweak and fine-tune recordings right on your computer screen. Create several tracks within a project and apply effects like compression and reverb just by clicking and dragging the mouse.
  • PS49 USB 2.0 MIDI keyboard: A great tool for somebody learning music production, MIDI keyboards like the one included here let you unlock your creativity. Rather than recording audio signals, the computer actually receives data from the keys, buttons, and dials. Think of it as "performance instructions" that can later be manipulated in the editing process — corrected, changed, sped up, or slowed down. Using the included Notion music-notation software, you can even substitute an entirely different sound or instrument.
  • MIDI keyboard

PS49 USB 2.0 MIDI keyboard included

M7 condenser microphone: Designed specifically for studio use, this mic is great for capturing clear-sounding vocals.
  • HD3 studio monitoring headphones: These around-the-ear headphones are adjustable to fit both adults and children. The semi-open design provides accurate response along with enough sound isolation for monitoring your performance as well as mixing and editing.
  • cables and desktop mic stand
  • powered USB hub: Connect up to 4 USB cables via a single open USB port on your computer.

Share your recordings

Once a recording is complete, make it available online for friends and supporters. A membership to Nimbit®, PreSonus's music-sharing service, is included in this bundle. Nimbit is integrated right into the included Studio One software, and it lets you upload and share music, promote your music programs, and raise funds. Tools are provided to easily add a "storefront" page to Facebook or your website.

    Hardware

PreSonus Music Creation Suite: The PreSonus Music Creation Suite recording kit is a complete solution for classrooms, school labs, churches, and home studios. This special all-PreSonus system combines an AudioBox USB interface with Studio One Artist music-production software, Notion music-notation and composition software, the PS49 USB MIDI keyboard, HD3 monitoring headphones, an M7 large-diaphragm condenser microphone, a free Nimbit account, a powered USB hub, and all necessary cables and mounts.

AudioBox USB Interface: The AudioBox USB utilizes high-grade components to ensure optimum performance that will last a lifetime. Loaded with two high-headroom, Class A, microphone preamplifiers; a built-in 2x2 USB 1.1 recording and playback engine; and MIDI I/O; the AudioBox USB offers excellent music performance and production.

    • 24-Bit/48kHz DAC: The AudioBox USB employs a high-definition 24-bit/48kHz analog-to-digital converter for exceptional sound quality and recording with up to 108 dB dynamic range.
    • XMAX Preamps: The AudioBox USB is equipped with PreSonus XMAX microphone preamplifiers for use with all types of microphones. The net result of the XMAX preamp design is high headroom, low noise, wide dynamic range, extended frequency response, and most importantly, musicality and transparency, with smooth highs, solid deep lows, and everything in between. XMAX preamplifiers are built with three key elements.
      • High Voltage: The XMAX preamplifier runs on power rails of 30V. Most off-the-shelf, op-amp-based designs run on power rails of 10V to 18V. Higher-voltage power rails deliver more headroom, deeper lows, smoother highs, and a richer overall sound.
      • Discrete Components: XMAX preamplifiers only use genuine transistors, resistors, and capacitors. Other Op-amps add noise, coloration, and harshness to a signal. This discrete design delivers ultra-low noise and transparency.
      • Class A: Class A circuits have no crossover distortion and deliver purer, clearer, and more musical results than the Class AB designs that are found in many preamps.
    • Mic/Instrument Combo Inputs: The AudioBox USB offers two convenient front-panel mic/instrument combo inputs with global phantom power. Active instruments are those that have an internal preamp or a line-level output. Active instruments should be plugged into a line input rather than into an instrument input.
      • Microphone Inputs: Both channels of the AudioBox USB have Mic/Instrument combo jacks. This convenient connector accepts either a 1/4" phone plug or an XLR plug.
      • Instrument Inputs: The 1/4" TS connectors on channels 1 and 2 are for use with instruments (guitar, bass, etc.). When an instrument is plugged into the instrument input, the mic preamp is bypassed, and the AudioBox USB becomes an instrument preamplifier.
      • 48V Phantom Power: The AudioBox USB provides 48V phantom power for the microphone input on each channel. Press the 48V button to enable phantom power for all microphone inputs.
    • USB 1.1 Port: The AudioBox USB's USB 1.1 port is where you connect the included USB cable from the USB to your computer. The AudioBox USB is bus-powered via this connection and does not require an external power supply.
    • Controls: The AudioBox USB provides the following front-panel controls.
      • Mixer: The Mixer knob allows you to blend your input signals with the playback streams from your computer. This allows you to monitor your input signal with zero latency. If the knob is positioned at 12 o'clock, the input signal and the playback stream will be equally balanced. Turning the knob to the left will increase the level of the input signal relative to the playback stream; turning to the right will increase the level of the playback stream relative to the input signal.
      • Phones: The Phones knob controls the volume of the headphone output on the front of the unit.
      • Main: The Main knob controls the output level for the Main Outputs on the back of the AudioBox, with a range of -80 dB to 0 dB.
    • Main Outs & Headphone Out: The PreSonus AudioBox USB features two 1/4" main outputs. The output level of the Main Outs is controlled by the Main volume knob on the front of the unit. The AudioBox USB is also fitted with a 1/4" headphone jack for connecting a set of headphones for monitoring privately.
    • MIDI I/O: MIDI stands for "Musical Instrument Digital Interface". MIDI inputs and outputs allow connection to, and communication with, external MIDI equipment. One function of these ports is MIDI sequencing but the MIDI protocol can be used for much more than instruments and sequencing. MIDI is not audio but is frequently used to trigger or control an audio source (such as a plug-in or synthesizer). It's important to ensure that your MIDI data is correctly sent and received by the appropriate hardware or software devices. If the devices generate audio, you may also need to return the audio to an AudioBox USB input channel.

PS49 USB MIDI Keyboard: The PS49 USB MIDI keyboard gives you seven assignable controllers, including pitch and modulation wheels, a volume slider, and four control knobs, plus a sustain-pedal jack (pedal not included). the PS49 keyboard auto-configures with Studio One, so no setup is required. Quickly tweak all plug-in parameters using Studio One's unique Control Link feature, control virtual instruments with no setup hassles, easily map volume automation, and more. An Octave Shift button lets you transpose the keyboard up to +4 or -3 octaves. And of course you can send Program Change commands and change the MIDI Out channel. A USB cable is included.

    • Keyboard Action: 49, unweighted, velocity-sensitive
    • USB Port: USB 2.0 compliant
    • Memory: Nonvolatile, retains settings on power-off
    • Display: 3-digit red LED
    • Sustain Pedal jack: Polarity-sensing

M7 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone: Condenser mics are the overwhelming choice of recording studio professionals, due to the very small mass that must be moved by the in-coming sound wave. This means you can capture musical details, harmonics, and subtle nuances that would get lost with dynamic mics. From vocals to acoustic guitar recordings, you'll hear the difference. Large diaphragm microphones like the M7 tend to "warm up" a sound and are a great choice for recording vocals and for recording instruments when you want a "deep" sound. The M7 can be phantom powered from the AudioBox USB interface and comes with a mic-stand adapter, nine-foot (three-meter) mic cable, desktop mic stand, and soft carry bag.

    • Element: Electret
    • Polar Pattern: Cardioid
    • Frequency Response: 40-18kHz
    • Sensitivity: -39 dBV/pa (12.2 mV/pa)
    • Rated Impedance: 200-ohm
    • Equivalent Input Noise (EIN): 20 dB
    • Maximum SPL: 136 dB
    • Phantom Power Required: +12 to +52 VDC, 3mA
    • S/N Ratio: 74 dB
    • Dynamic Range: 11 dB
    • Current Consumption: 3.5 mA

HD3 Monitor Headphones: PreSonus' HD3 headphones take advantage of a patented, semi-open sound chamber to deliver extended low frequencies. Lightweight and durable, they feature a comfortable design for extended use in class or at home and are adjustable to fit adults and children.

    • Acoustic Design: Dynamic, semi-open
    • Driver: 54mm
    • Frequency Response: 15-22kHz
    • Sensitivity: 98 dB SPL (1mW, +/- 3dB)
    • Maximum Power: 400mW
    • Rated Impedance: 32-ohm

USB Hub: Connect your interface and keyboard with ports to spare, using this powered USB hub. Four USB 2.0 ports and a dedicated power supply help ensure that your USB devices receive the power required for optimal performance.
