Crisp highs and punchy bass from an in-ceiling speaker
The Speakercraft AIM 7 Five Series 2 (or AIM275, for short) uses time-tested materials to get a performance boost out of a very solid speaker design. The speaker's aluminum/magnesium tweeters deliver crisp, detailed highs, and a high-tech, 7" Kevlar® woofer ensures accurate mids and deep bass. The speaker handles a muscular 150 watts and delivers low-end response down to 35 Hz. Speakercraft has gone the extra mile to make sure that when you install this speaker in your ceiling, you'll be happy with the results.
Aim sound where you need it most
It's called the AIM275 for a reason — this speaker lets you aim sound where you need it. The woofer tilts up to 15 degrees each way, and each of the four 5/8" tweeters built into the ARC Tweeter Array can rotate and tilt. That means you can mount the speaker where it looks best, or where it has proper support, and then direct the sound waves toward your favorite chair. WavePlane™ technology helps further focus high-frequency sound dispersion, providing maximum clarity for music and home theater sound.

Features
ARC Tweeter Array: By incorporating four 0.625" aluminum/magnesium dome tweeters in a line array, the AIM Series 2 in-ceiling speaker delivers focused high frequencies farther into the listening area than standard tweeter configurations. The ARC Tweeter Array lowers the crossover point to increase the sound pressure level at the critical mid-range frequencies so that acoustically, listeners enjoy a much larger sweet spot.
WavePlane Technology: Complementing the ARC Tweeter Array is SpeakerCraft's updated WavePlane technology that acts as an acoustic lens, focusing the high frequency audio energy into the listening environment for a cleaner, wider, and richer sound. Ordinary speakers only sound their best when you are directly underneath them, but the WavePlane assures optimal high frequency dispersion throughout the listening area.
7" Woofer: The SpeakerCraft in-ceiling speaker houses a 7" Kevlar cone woofer with a butyl elastomer surround for midrange and midbass frequencies.
Aim-Ability: The enhanced aim-ability of the AIM Series 2 in-ceiling speaker provides flexibility for installation in home theater and whole home audio applications, so you can aim the sound exactly where you want it. The speaker housing design allows for a +/-15° pivoting woofer, totaling 30° of adjustment. Once the woofer is positioned, you can pivot and rotate the ARC Tweeter Array and WavePlane to further adjust the direction of the sound into the room toward the listening area. The ARC Tweeter Array and WavePlane rotate as one unit up to 359°. You may also further pivot the ARC Tweeter Array an additional 12°.
Acoustic Compensation Switches: The SpeakerCraft in-ceiling speaker employs two acoustic compensation switches to adjust treble and midrange frequencies.
- Treble Adjustment Switch: The switch labeled "Treble"
allows for 6dB of tweeter adjustment. The factory setting is set at 0dB
(neutral) of treble. If you desire less treble, slide the switch to the "-
position" for -3dB of
treble; if you desire additional treble, slide the switch to the "+ position" for +3dB of treble. - Voice Adjustment Switch: The switch labeled "Voice" provides for additional definition at critical midrange frequencies. This is typically activated for home theater center speaker applications. Select the "+" position to enhance the vocal range of the actors or select the "o" position to keep the frequency at a neutral level.
Vortex Eliminators: The AIM 2 in-ceiling speaker's Vortex Eliminators disperse sound as it reaches the outer edge of the speaker baffle. Acoustically, this moves the speaker closer to the surface of the ceiling, improving the overall dispersion of sound and eliminating any tunnel effect found in ordinary ceiling speakers.
Treble Adjustment Switch: The acoustic compensation switch labeled
"Treble" allows for 6dB of tweeter adjustment. The factory setting is set at 0dB
(neutral) of treble. If you desire less treble, slide the switch to the "-
position" for -3dB of
treble; if you desire additional treble, slide the switch to the "+ position"
for +3dB of treble.
Speaker Terminals: The SpeakerCraft in-ceiling speaker is fitted with spring-post speaker terminals that will accommodate bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual).
Paintable Grille: The in-ceiling speaker comes with a perforated metal grill finished in white. It can be painted to match the color of your ceiling.
In-Ceiling Applications: The AIM Series 2 in-ceiling speaker can be used in a wide variety of home theater and distributed audio installations. These in-ceiling speakers have been crafted to support sophisticated installations, demanding sonic performance, and advanced object-based surround audio platforms such as Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and DTS:X.
In-Ceiling Installation: Its round shape and low-profile speaker grille allow the AIM Series 2 in-ceiling speaker to mimic the look of a recessed lighting fixture. The speaker requires a cutout of 8.4375" and a mounting depth of 5.5". The speaker frame has a diameter of 9.625". Once the hole is cut, the speaker can be dropped in and the rotating cams can be tightened, allowing you to secure the speaker to the drywall without any extra assembly.
