Celestron's Evolution line is the next step in computerized control for telescopes. Where other computerized telescopes use a wired controller for choosing an object and pointing the 'scope, the NexStar Evolution 8 turns a compatible smartphone or tablet into a wireless controller, connected via integrated Wi-Fi. The free Celestron SkyPortal mobile app with planetarium interface and SkyAlign technology helps you locate objects you want to explore, then automatically slews the Evolution 8 to the right point in the sky at the touch of a button, or a tap on your device's screen.

Great for stargazing and astrophotography

The 8-inch NexStar Evolution offers bright, sharp views with StarBright XLT optical coatings that gather and focus plenty of light. It's excellent for direct viewing, and a great way to get started on the rewarding hobby of astrophotography. Thanks to its brass worm gears and precise, quiet motors you can track and photograph deep-sky objects like the Orion Nebula by simply attaching your DSLR camera with an optional T-ring and adapter. For longer exposures and more detailed photos add the optional Pro HD Wedge. The 'scope also comes with two eyepieces so you can choose the right level of magnification for objects near and far.

Plenty of power

Keeping a motorized telescope powered up when you're at a dark-sky location can be a challenge. The NexStar Evolution 8 packs a built-in lithium-ion phosphate battery that allows up to 10 hours of observation on each charge. There are also four auxiliary ports that allow you to keep your mobile device up and running for the duration of your evening of stargazing.
