About the Celestron Omni XLT 150

A serious scope

The Celestron Omni XLT 150 is a serious telescope for the dedicated amateur astronomer. You won't see a lot of gadgetry on this scope, just careful craftsmanship and optimized performance. The lenses and mirrors are hand selected and made from high-grade optical glass, so they provide sharp, well-lit images of deep-space objects. The equatorial mount features setting circles and slow-motion controls for manual tracking of your target over time. A pre-assembled tripod with 1-3/4" stainless steel legs provides a rock-solid base for the entire assembly.

More light for clear viewing

The 150mm aperture on the XLT 150 gathers plenty of light. That's crucial when you want to look at dim and distant objects like galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. Celestron's StarBright XLT coating on the primary mirror makes sure that light reaches your eye, so you see stars, planets and deep-space objects in their full glory. This scope is versatile enough to allow detailed photographs of the moon and colorful images of Jupiter and Saturn. The sky's the limit.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Omni XLT 150 by Celestron is a high-quality Newton Reflector telescope, designed for intermediate astronomers. The XLT 150 comes with an Omni CG-4 Equatorial mount, a 25mm multi-coated eyepiece, a 6x30 finderscope, a center leg brace that doubles as an accessory tray, and a heavy-duty tripod with 1-3/4" diameter stainless steel legs and a built-in bubble level.

Newtonian Reflector: Newtonian Reflector telescopes replace heavy lenses with mirrors to collect and focus the light, providing much more light gathering power than refracting telescopes. It uses a single concave mirror as its primary element. Light enters the telescope and travels to the mirror in the back end. The mirror bends (focuses) the light forward to a single focal point. A flat mirror (diagonal) intercepts the light and points it out the side of the tube to the eyepiece. A Newtonian Reflector telescope offers such impressive light-gathering characteristics you can view some deep space objects, even with a modestly-priced unit.

Optics: The XLT 150 features high-quality optics with each lens and mirror being hand selected. Only the finest grade of optical glass is used. The premium Celestron StarBright XLT optical coatings provide maximized light transmission, contrast, and image sharpness.

Eyepiece: The telescope comes with a 1-1/4" diameter, 25mm multi-coated eyepiece (30x magnification) with 20mm eye relief and a 50° Field of View. Higher power eyepieces are available for the XLT 150 to give you a closer look at your chosen object. The unit comes with a 1-1/4" eyepiece adapter installed on the unit. If you wish to use 2" diameter eyepieces, you can replace the 1-1/4" adapter with the supplied 2" eyepiece adapter.

CG-4 Equatorial Mount: The included CG-4 equatorial mount allows you to manually adjust the telescope and fine-tune the motion on both R.A. and Dec. axes. There are slow motion knobs on each axis to make small adjustments. The mount is equipped with ball bearings on each axis for smooth performance. You can also make adjustments in altitude and azimuth alignment with separate adjustment screws. To eliminate undue stress on the mount, the telescope includes two counterweights to balance the unit: one is 7 pounds, while the other is 4 pounds.

Finderscope: The telescope comes with a 6x30 finderscope which mounts to the outside front of the telescope tube to help you aim the telescope at a distant target. The finderscope must first be aligned with the telescope before use.

Included Software: Included with the telescope is "TheSkyX -- First Light Edition" astronomy software on CD-ROM. The disc contains a 10,000 object database with printable sky maps and 75 enhanced images.
