About the Celestron Trailseeker

Eric A.

The TrailSeeker is stable, easy to operate and lightweight; just what you want out of a tripod. It's also versatile enough to work with spotting scopes, binoculars, cameras or small telescopes. The tripod's pan head moves smoothly and features a quick-release plate so you can go mobile at a moment's notice. The aluminum legs are independently adjustable in length and angle, so your view can be level even when the ground underneath is not. Attention to detail is the standard: the tripod comes with non-slip rubber feet, a retractable hook for adding a stabilizing weight, and bubble levels to make sure your view is perfectly horizontal. It weighs less than 4 lbs. and comes with a convenient carrying case, so it can easily go wherever your day takes you.

Features

Overview: The Trailseeker Tripod is designed for multiple uses, including spotting scopes and binoculars, cameras, or a small telescope. It features sturdy 1" diameter four section aluminum legs with flip lever leg locks. Two of the legs are wrapped with foam padding to give you extra comfort when carrying over your shoulder. Each leg has rubber feet to provide a good grip on slick or wet surfaces. The tripod has a two-way fluid pan head, two bubble levels (on top of the tripod and on the side of the pan head), and a compass. It comes with a handy carrying case with a shoulder strap for easy transport. The tripod weighs less than 4 pounds, yet holds up to almost 9 pounds of equipment.

Pan Head: The Trailseeker tripod has a two-way fluid pan head with a quick release plate. It has a single oversized knob that adjusts the tension, both horizontally and vertically. The quick release plate has a standard 1/4-20 thread mount, which will accept most cameras, spotting scopes, or binocular adapters. The plate snaps into place when inserted into the pan head.

Note: To mount any of the Celestron binoculars, you will need to purchase the optional tripod adapter (item #93524), available directly from Celestron.

Center Column: The tripod's one-piece center column has a manual range of motion of 12.5". At the end of the center column is a spring-loaded balance hook that allows you to hang your backpack or gear bag, or to add weight for additional stability in windy conditions.

Leg Angles: The legs of the tripod can be set at three different angles. This allows you to lower the height of the tripod, or to accommodate placement on uneven surfaces. The leg angle adjustment latches pull outward to allow the legs to open at the widest angles. When pulled out halfway, the latches prevents the legs from being opened beyond the middle angle. With the latch fully pressed in, the legs are prevented from pivoting beyond the narrowest angle. The latches do not prevent the legs from being pushed inward toward the center post.

Note: When the legs are angled out to it's widest position, you will need to raise the center column to allow all three legs to touch the ground/floor. The minimum operating height with the legs at their widest angle is 18.5".
